This stuff immediately time warps me back to that wonderful time in the 70s when everything was about music, and good pot, and hanging out and having sooooo much fun together peacefully all the time. I am so grateful I was part of this time, We were blessed with magical music,
In 1970 Steven Stills had it all. He had the Look, the Voice, the Guitar licks and he shined brightly. He became a legend of his generation. I thought he would become a musical God. He sang it, "Don't let the past remind us..." I apologize, I'm nobody but I wanted to be Him.
Heartbreaking news. The passing of David Crosby at age 81. That 1st CSN album was a watershed moment. It took all the best from the bands through which its members passed. ♡ Harmonies & guitar skills that are non-pareol. Lyrics that linger in everyone who ever listened to them. And to think the beautiful spirit of Cass Elliot was instrumental in bringing them all together. The heavens must be singing at his arrival, even as we mourn his loss to our midst. David Crosby: Composer, Guitar (Acoustic), Guitar (Rhythm), Performer, Producer, Vocals. ♡ R.I.P. David. We're the better for your songwriting and the masterful collaboration between you, Graham & Stephen. ♡♡♡
While babysitting my 2 year old cousin for a few weeks, many years ago, I'd sing parts of this song while doing whatever. By the time I went home, my little cousin was singing it also. Her mom was is disbelief, wondering how she knew the song. I never told her till years later. hehe
Too cool. I loved CSN's and Jefferson Airplane's versions of this song Great to see Paul join his co-writers on stage. And, unfortunately, this tune will be relevant for years to come.
In Memoriam: David Crosby. Fly away, where you might laugh again, your soul is wandering into eternity now. God I love ya, man! You live on in the heart of love.
Kantner and Crosby, two towering legends within that era. Only Young had the artistic propulsion to go far beyond or as he said, get "a million miles away from that helicopter day."
We covered this song on our channel a few days before David Crosby's death although its not nearly as good as the original. Personally, I love CSNY and is one of my all time favorites to perform. RIP David Crosby.
I like this one , we get to hear more of Crosby singing , he has such a strong voice... I look at the other video's when they have gray hair just like me lol...
This is not true, I saw them play this together in a small dive bar in San Francisco in 1986. Paul was in the crowd and just got up on the small stage with David and played this together. It was Rock n Roll history.
@@beardocuba maybe David could not remember from all the coke he was doing back then. Just a couple of months earlier I ran into David in a super market in Mill Valley. He was asking people in line to check out for spare change. He said he wasn't broke he just needed some spare change. My friend asked him over for dinner but he declined and went on asking people for spare change. Sad. Then I saw him in that after hours dance dive bar. Not even 100 people there. His breathing was terrible because he was so fat, but his voice was like silk. He played everything from "If I Could Only Remember My Name". Good stuff.
@@joesmoker3378 That's pretty obvious. There are still people fighting for people that the rich would love to have disappear or, at best, fall through the tracks
while the airplane 1969 release on volunteers is cool and full of emotion it is not even close to the world renown version on crosby stills nash of the same year. it's like comparing a bottle rocket to the space shuttle.
ALWAYS that faster than speeded up GARBAGE after all those "refrains," NOT even allowing for time to catch breath! The WHOLE selection should be performed at identically "relaxed" pace to its "verses" and "refrains" and should enable performances of EVERY lyric.
Never gets old. Doesn't get much better than this.
I will never tire of these icons of harmony. Amazing doesn’t even touch it 👏👏👏

Wonderful version! Stills is one of the era's greatest guitarists.
Love his voice so magical!!!

Paul Kantner. True son of San Francisco. You did our city proud, Paul.

Paul, you'll never be forgotten.
wonderful vid. rip paul kantner
Kantner without a guitar! Rare indeed. great version of an absolute classic.
I lived by Boulder age 16 when they were recording at caribou ranch. Driving my alfa Romero around town. Magic !
I saw Crosby and Nash do an acoustic duo concert at The Vogue in Indianapolis about a month before this video was recorded.
RIP Paul listened and loved you since 65
Thanks for all your so wonderful Music!!!
R.I.P. Paul Kantner. Great performance presented here.

Great song! RIP Paul.
Rip Paul Kantner ....
Just amazing
Is not this song unbelievable full of elementary inner power ?
This was from the Earthquake relief show. I was there
To have been there...whoaa...special.

Had caught CSNY at Altamonte .Very sad that David Crosby passed away this week. He was a founding member of the group. He will be sadly missed
What a great show. ..
so much love
thank you!

but then we all grew up together:).
Pure, talent, just good as good gets
Great work Baron Von Tollbooth.
great album
I'd've been his chrome nun any day!
I have the promo copy from 73 , soo good! Love Sunfighter also!🇺🇸
Time flies...
A true Gemstone song!
RIP David Crosby 1/19/23

2 thumbs down are not musicians or just plain music lovers.
Great. 🇩🇪
too humble to even comment on this
when Paul leans in to David, bet he's saying"look at Stephen, he hasn't lost one bit of his talent"...
Stll and a wonderful

Perhaps all those purple pills caused them to forget that.

And the album, lp, it was obviously on vinyl in my young teen days, is called Dejavu. One of the greatest ever.
This IS very cool, but needs Grace and Jorma too.
Rip David
😁 Just a big, "terminal grin" here. Wow
Who else on this stage? Graham Nash?
Why does Nash always dress and groom exactly like the year he was in? It's comical now looking back.
It's called being trendy. 😉
Because he feels like it.
Exactly.
Paul didn't do the "sail away" bridge :-(
No he didn't, such a beautiful vocal by Paul on the original. So underrated as a vocalist and songwriter. RIP Paul 🙏
You don't need us.
Its Half as good as AIRPLANE'S version
Who are these old folks?
group we all used to listen to. changed their name to "the grampaws" .
Now, they 30 years older.
Paul McCartney silly little love song
Unfortunately Paul Katner Passed On Jan 28th 2016
CSNY And The Jefferson Airplane Were Amazing
Joe Rogan lives !!
Have u had your Joe today?
What the hell was Stills thinking? He doesn't need these backup singers.
No credit for one of the Queens of Rock and Roll (along with Ms. Janis Joplin ;-) Grace Slick?
This band reflects back to when the Left was glorious: when they channeled all their angst and anger into art, not into throwing public tantrums.
@PimpMaster maybe, but it sounds like your ready to throw that tantrum now, and it sure sounds like your from the right !

Lol. Oh well. It coulda happened. Would have loved more Paul--he seemed lost, poor guy, but that's not his fault. Doesn't hold a candle to Volunteers.
The Jefferson Airplane version of this song is much better. Paul Kantner said in an interview that Crosby only wrote the bridge.

Maybe he was referring to the lyrics. Musically it's mainly Crosby.
