Which pair of Maui Jim fishing sunglasses floats your boat? Let us know in the comments below!
I have the Local Kine in several color-ways. Probably my favorite non-metal frame ever.
Thank you for an awesome video.
The Local Kine's just can't be beat. Great vid!
Yes, they're such great sunglasses. Glad you enjoyed the video, thanks so much for watching!
The SFW of the Local Kine is stated as 135mm on your website, but here you say it’s 142mm. Which one is it?
Great informative video. I’m a recent convert to Maui Jim as my wife bought me a pair of Red Sands for Father’s Day recently and I absolutely love the comfort and clarity and use them for driving or going out. I have a bigger face and have a pair of Oakley split shots that fit great and I really like them. I’d like to get a Maui Jim frame in a wrap style for fishing and spending long periods of time outside coaching to rotate with my split shots.
Which of these frames do you think would fit most similar to the Oakley split shot? Thanks and thanks for having the most informative videos out there.
Love to hear that you like your Red Sands! Those are a great pair of sunglasses.
The Oakley Split Shot measures at an SFW of 131. The Makoa and Kanaio Coast are both a 132, so very close in fit.

Thanks for the reply! I’ll look into those and check out your videos with those models.
cuál lente Maui Jim recomiendas para uso casual diario, saludos exelente canal.
¡Hola a ti Jose! Realmente depende de las preferencias individuales, pero no puede equivocarse con su Gris Neutro o Maui HT para uso diario general. 😎
This is kind of apropos of nothing, but I either own or have tried on all of these except the Equator and Peahi. I have a large to extra large head, but apparently it is also oddly shaped. Of those remaining models there is only one that absolutely would not fit: the World Cup. It goes against the SFW, others’ user experiences, and Maui Jim’s own descriptions. But, there it is. Granted, the Makoa and especially Kanaio Coast were snug. But I literally couldn’t get the World Cup all the way onto my face. I got to the hinge area and it was like hitting a brick wall.
What’s my point? No idea. Certainly not to bash the SFW, I find that a very useful and practical measurement to compare frames. I guess it’s just to say that frame shape/design can influence fit as much or more than the actual frame size in some RARE circumstances. There’s really no way to quantify that, of course. Just trial and error when it comes to trying them on. Luckily, SportRx has a great return policy if someone runs into this (I don’t work there and am not being paid).
Hey Wallace. Graham here!
First off, thank you. We really appreciate customer feedback. One of the perks of working here, is getting to field test all these sweet frames. With that said, everyone's head is different and we're bound to miss things here and there. That's where you come in.
We'll take another look at the World Cup and see if we need to update our SFW and fit guide for this frame. There are rare instances when a frame's design can make measuring the SFW a bit tricky (Pokowai Arch is a good example of this). If all else fails, I'll go see how this fits Sunglass Rob's face. He has a large head.
@@sportrxeyewear Thanks for the reply! No need to go through that trouble though, I don’t doubt the measurement at all. It’s definitely a case of me having odd features that don’t fit with the frame. I feel like it is probably the extra beefy temples (vertically) on the World Cup. I think they end up “pinched” between my high (and fat) cheekbones and my lowish, somewhat prominent brow. It’s hard to put into words what I think is happening, but hopefully that makes sense.
Thank you for the response, and the great content and customer service!
surprised to see kawai channel not on the list. Any particular reason?
Great frame but not one that we carry, unfortunately. Maui produces hundreds of great sport specific frames. We choose which ones to include based on function, popularity, and in this case preference among Anglers.
Who make the best prescription sunglasses for fishing? Maui or Costa I have a Stigmatism
Hey Matthew! I wouldn't place one over the other in terms of which brand is 'better' for fishing as it ultimately comes down to the culmination of preferred features and fit. I will say that Costa has put alot of consideration and care into their Pro Series of frames designed specifically to benefit serious anglers. it's pronounced Local "Kai-n" not "Kee-ne" Hawaii peeps will look at you weird if you say "Kee-ne"
