It always makes me happy to see companies flourish that do clean+helpful business and simply deserve their success. Such as you, Aaron. Very happy to see you making this next big step into a great future. Very nice studio!
Hey congrats Phlearn team! You have been very persistent in your quest to become a successful photoshop/ photography tutorial channel and I wholeheartedly believe you deserve every bit of the new studio. Enjoy it :)
Aaron - I've been watching since your "living room" days and have appreciated the massive effort you and your team have made and continue to make teaching, demonstrating, and sharing a love of creativity through photography and Photoshop. Thank you SO much!
congratulations guys, i´m a graphic designer from colombia and my english is not that good but i follow and enjoy every single video of yours. Thanks for everything and i hope i can meet you some day. Bye.
Congratulations PHlearn team, excuse the bad translation, I'm from Brazil, and I follow your work, is a source of inspiration for me. Dream of someday becoming a professional just like you. Big hug!
Just discovered you guys. Been meaning to improve my Photoshop skills and revamp my branding and y'all have already helped me do so much of that! Thanks guys, hope you enjoy your new studio!
Aaron the natural light through those windows is amazing! Congratulations to the whole team. I've been following Phlearn since it began in your living room and is very motivational to see how far you've guys grown. Kudos!
thank you Aaron. these will help me out a lot. also I forgot to say congratulations you moving into your new studio. hope everything work out well for you and the phlearn staff.
photoshopCAFE Colin, nice to see you here... Your tips are working out also, thanks... Aaron stuff great, he has an easy approach to understand and implement. :)
Today I'm gonna show you how to make a studio from scratch in Photoshop... Congrats on the new studio, i like that you're actually doing stuff yourself, its awesome!!
Awesome studio! It's been a great upgrade from your previous studio which I thought was very nice! Well let's see what this studio and Phlearn has to bring us :)
You guys are awesome ! i really like your tutorials, i learn so much from them. thank you so much and keep on because what you're doing here is just magic !!!
Vector shapes in photoshop would be a more effective and efficient method of making similar illustrations; It has the same color changing capabilities plus it's easier to edit the actual shape if needed.
Really nice video as always. Aaron you totally knows the deal when it comes to Photoshop. Thank you so much for your content, I am always looking forward to see what you'll upload next... And btw, love the new studio! Looks great!
Great, great tutorial! I always wanted to work with images and stuff, but I've never found (until now) a good channel as good as yours! I started watching your videos today and I've already learned a lot! Thank you and keep doing a great job!!!
Congratulations Aaron and the Phlearn family. It is fun watching you grow. Enjoyed the graphic demonstration and looking forward to more graphic applications to photo work. I do have a class that would be dear to me. How to reduce flash reduction from my macro photos? I think its going to boil down to the proper masks (luminosity masks?), however a class on this would make life much for fun for me. I don't get around for nature shoots like I used to in my younger days and macro is within reach; so-to-speak. At your own time and convenience of course. Thank you Nick
thanks man for all tutorials .. u are awesome! i have a quick question.. please teach us how to export small small logos for web .. I'm so confused about making 30p × 30p icon .. how can i do that without losing its quality? pleas help and big thanks.
You people look like you would be so fun to work with! Congrats on the new home. I remember the living room days. Your videos have only gotten better over the years. Can't say that about all UA-cam content creators. Rock on!!!!
***** Believe me, it has been my pleasure! Your videos have helped me have so much fun expressing my creative ideas. Simply put, I could not have done it without your guys at Phlearn!
Congrads on the new studio and looking foreward to all the content you guys will be pumping out. I do have to say though that photoshop in not the tool for this kind of work. Illustrator is the way to go for these kinds of things for so many reasons.
I always wondered what the axis point was for....It makes so much sense now. BTW congratz on the new studio, it's awesome. I also like the new video editing style.
Another good video! I have some supplementary notes for anyone watching: This is really a great tutorial for layer masks, which are Photoshop's most useful feature. Their real power, however, is in what we call "non-destructive workflow" - a subject that would have to be covered in its own video. Layer masks are raster images that allow you to modify the opacity of its target, which can be anything (even an effect layer or smart object!), without having to use "destructive" tools like the eraser. It's not uncommon to see nearly every layer in a professional photoshop file have a mask for this reason - if you ever have to "un-erase" something later, layer masks are your only hope. Regarding graphic design, it's worth taking what you learn from this video and seeing if you can apply the lesson with vector tools, such as the pen and shape tools. Creating this same target using vectors would be the more industry-standard approach for one big reason: scalability. Making circle selections to define a mask is a raster operation, meaning you're working in finite pixels. If you wanted to print this target on a shirt or a poster, there wouldn't be enough pixel data for a clean image when blown up to standard printing sizes around 600dpi. Regardless of your tools, there are a couple extra tricks I'd like to pass on. 1) Smart Guides are always on when you have the selection tool (the arrow) in use. When you move a layer near or inside another layer, Photoshop will try to guide you perfectly to its edges and center. This is incredibly useful, especially if you accidentally lose your selection while following along to the video. Which brings me to... 2) Regaining your selection is easy. Any layer, even masks, can be quickly converted into a selection by holding CTRL when you click on the layer's thumbnail (Mac users, hold Command instead).
Hello from Latvia! Congratulation on the new office! Why didn't you use shapes and vector principals to do this? Graphic art would be more modifiable, or there is a some hidden rocks beneath this technique? Thank you!
Hey dudes, love the Phlearn HQ already! Also, I'd love to see more advanced compositing videos. Like movie posters, book covers, advertising pieces etc. I bet you already have some in the queue so thanks in advance.
Hey guys! I'm so glad you guys are getting this upgrade, I hope one day is the future I can work with you guys :D my little big dream! Thanks for all the knowledge you've given us (:
Hello Mr. Nace, You make it look so easy! I haven't grasped the function of the layer masks and how it makes them different from other layers. Did you already cover layer masks on a separate video? If so, where can I find it? Love your videos!
I think this would be much easier in Illustrator, but still. Nice to know how you would do it in Photoshop. Congrats with the new studio! I love this channel
Hey Phlearn. Could you explain the color dodge blend effect? I've seen it being used to make accent glows but i want to know how it reacts to the layers underneath so I can understand how to use it efficiently.
Great video Aaron! But my question is, why would one choose to do graphic art in photoshop instead of illustrator, which is basically made for this? Are there any significant advantages of doing it in photoshop over illustrator or anything? Anyone? :)
Hi... I was wondering why you would chose to do masks with color fills vs using shape layers... except for the background, of course? Thanks... I am learning tons from your episodes!
OMG. Great job, guys! From a living room studio to such a big company - awesome :) I am pretty sure this will inspire so many artists our there :D Keep it up guys!
Hey I like the videos. I'm a speed artist and I usually run my speed art in Photoshop. However, why aren't you using Illustrator for this graphic art tutorial? Vector vs Raster. Vector bullseye and arrows with a raster shadow would be appropriate.
Aaron, I think you should explain the difference between pixel and vector art and why you should almost always use Illustrator for this kind of graphic rather than Photoshop. There is nothing worse to a new designer than designing for hours in Photoshop and then realizing that you can't enlarge your graphic for other uses.
Hey guys! First of all huge congrats on the new studio, it looks awesome! Now as a high end Windows user I'm kinda struggling with the hotkeys because you guys use Macs and all. Any chance you could provide the hotkeys for both platforms in your future tutorials? Other than that I am thoroughly enjoying myself and making cool stuff in the process. Keep it up!
Video starts at 2:33 for those who either have watched a few times, or just want to skip the intro to the new studio.
Jec thanks mate.
