Keith once said, "Buddy could write songs, he could produce them in the studio, and he could play them live on stage. He could do it all, lucky devil." This performance is a tribute to Buddy's tremendous talent.
Arizjoe totally agree 👍 bought the Blu ray version for this song alone love keef 🔥
I wonder if the crowd at that moment realized what greatness they where seeing! Keith singing a Classic Buddy Holly song and I think it was one of his best live singing performance of a song ever!
I was there. I didn’t know the origins of the song at the time, but it still plays in my head as the best part of the show, that’s why I come here to watch it.
Outstanding performance of this Buddy Holly classic.
This rendition of a Buddy Holly song is beautiful. I've never heard the Stones sound sweeter. Keith's singing is so soulful, he really means it! Buddy was the best, ever.
So cool that the Stones are still honoring Buddy after all these years. Their first big hit was a cover of Buddy's song "Not Fade Away" and of the first two songs the Beatles recorded, long before they were the Beatles, was a cover of "That'll Be the Day". Buddy's influence cannot be overstated.
Through thick & thin, for better or worse, they played together stayed together and showed us all the game of love & life.No excuses,a lot of blood, sweat & tears along the road the Stones have shared their ups & downs, their ins & outs. They gave us down & dirty raw, gritty, emotional songs that have stood the test of time. A whirlwind of pure, honesty simple, uncomplicated reflections of power, politics, religion, revolution, sex, love & friendship...God bless my boys.
One for Buddy, pals! Classic Keith. From the heart and with so much soul.
It doesn't get better than this! Masterpiece. I've watched this video a hundred times, it never gets old! Thanks for posting.
First time hearing Keith singing full. Love how he projected the song with his personality! Awesome!
Well done Keef. You always were a Buddy fan
He makes it his own!
TEXAS IS A GOOD PLACE TO PLAY A BUDDY HOLLY TUNE !!
Awesome! From a major Buddy Holly fan
Just wonderful!!! Fantastic tribute to one of the greats! RIP Buddy Holly.
The Rolling Stones have the best taste. All of their influences were great like them! I loved discovering this rendition!
I love the Stones...and Buddy too!
Wish Buddy could have been around to have joined them in this.
One of my favourites of all time, Buddy Holly's version was very different but this has real grit that only KR could give
Ray Coxon You should check out Leo Kottke's version.
I still think Buddy Holly's version is better.
Keith blows us all away. What a brilliant guitarist !
Sandeep, you're right. That opening sequence of chords played on downstrokes and upstrokes is mesmerising. Ronnie Wood also providing joint lead guitar, but generously leaving Keith to shine. It's a great tribute to Buddy Holly. Regards.
How are you going to miss those drum beats, without a doubt with the presence of Charlie Watts to make the band go further, a legend is gone, but his legacy remains forever!
Never heard this song before that I can remember....love the beat and instrumentals.
What a great song!
THIS is unreal!
GREAT VERSION !!
Hot damn! Dis here is ROCK N ROLL. Keith da King o' da Worl!!!!!!!!!!!! Hail! Hail! Indeed.
Buddy Holly lives!! Thanks Keith! Great version mate! But please learn the words! Thanks for keeping his music alive though! God bless ya👍🕶🤓
My personal Buddy Holly favourite, And the Stones were always in my "Top 5". Cheers from Germany
There aren't many examples of Keith Richards (nee Richard) singing. He could easily have fronted his own band. I am around their age, and am more in awe of what they have done now than ever. Lost in the gossip and fanfare about the Stones is that they made a lot of incredible music, and it took a lot of work to pull it off. I stayed at a ranch a couple of decades ago for a wedding, where Mick Jagger also vacationed from time-to-time, and said to the foreman that no matter what you think of Mick Jagger, he knows how to do a show, from start to finish, pretty seamlessly. That takes talent. I saw them only once. It was one of those larger-than-life experiences that I could use right now.
Great song Keith!
Awesome ! He should sing it more in concert!
This wonderful Buddy track coupled with Keith Richards great personality. It doesn’t get much better than this...🎸👍
It really doesn't!!
So happy they played it in Buddy’s Texas
True respect displayed here. Long live Buddy Holly!..the WORLD KNOWS KEITH OUTLIVES US ALL!!!
I love Keith's singing. The world needs more Keith!
It sure does!
A very honest voice.
Konstantinos we definately do
We need a planet inhabited by only 7:7 billon Keef's!
Surprised that Keith ever picked up this song! Great honest version with a smattering of that Keith Richard humour.....God bless you Keith
He really sells this song great version!
Great! How great it would have been to see Buddy Holly and the Rolling Stones doing this fantastic song!
A great tribute indeed! I love it! Cheers from Australia.
You are all correct. Buddy Holly had a massive influence on the British invasion and everyone else who saw him. What he left us is such a short time will never be matched. Biddy Holly is THE GREATEST - THE KING OF ROCK N ROLL... Hands Down. He started playing music very young but by the time he entered "the music business," he had 4 or 5 years max. And to leave such a legacy in such a short time and to have influenced literally hundreds of Famous Musicians worldwide. The world was robbed on Feb 3rd, 1959, of a True Musical Genius.
I named my little baby girl Holly, in honour of you, Buddy. I will love you for all time.
Keith sounds awesome covering this song by Buddy Holly. Keith his talent just always makes him the epitome of cool
Great work Keith , never herd this classic before today.
Outstanding Mr. Richards!

So true Nicole! Love it when women, (especially beautiful girls like you) acknowledge Buddy xx👍👌
I love him so much!!!😍😍😍😭😭😭 he’s so adorable, I want him… I need him to be my Grandpa!!!!
The Rolling Stones put such a great spin on songs that they covered by other musical artists from Motown Chuck Berry Reggae Funk and this Buddy Holly cover that I just heard for the first time. 12/18/2019 One of Decembers Children Keith Richards Just turned 76 years young today And The Stones Keep Turing Us On Rolling Those Bones. The Day The Stones Stop Playing Music I Think Time Will Stop And I'll Look @ That Clock And Feel Old, But As Long As They're Here I'll Still Get To Enjoy Hearing New Music Made By The Greatest Rock n' Roll Band In The World !!
One of my favorite Buddy Holly songs by one of my favorite bands. Who could ask for more?
I learned the game Buddy!! Thanks for your advice 👍
one day Keef will go on stage and and play one chord and one cord only. Exactly at the moment he feels it's the right one. And the audience will cry. Because he has found the basic true about music. Love how he reduces his play over the years and on the same side makes every song he plays bigger and better. Genious.
Good Song and Brilliant, Keith :) Very Nice !!
Rolling-Stones-Fan 14 On Fire. The Srones are the greatest rock -blues band in the world. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for keeping Buddy’s music going, lads!
Thanks be to Keith Richards and Ron Woods for performing Learning the Game in Texas 2005. Who wrote it?
That would be the late great Buddy Holly
Buddy did of course 👍
I tried using this as a ringtone but found that I didn't answer the phone!
I like it Charlie, I'd be the same too😀
i wish we would have had 2 more years of Buddy Holly. 2 years of Buddy was like ten years to other artists some a lifetime.
I think Keith has well and truly learn the game
Stones always have had amazingly good & often surprising choices of songs to cover! This is obviously Keith's but Mick does it too!
They rock as well in '13 as they did in '63.
I roll from black forest all down the line to greenwich, O2 arena, UK, london, 25 of november,
to enjoy the most unique n historical show of rock n roll in this universe for the eternity....

Great tribute - Keith does blow the lyric though- "then you find out you are not the one shes thinking of " is correct and is actually the key line in the song
I thought his change was intentional. I'll ask next time I see him :)
Happy Birthday Keith Richards for your 75 today 🎊🎈🎉🎀🎶🎼🎵🎤🎸
