I totally agree with you on the acoustic bass It's really cool to hear somebody else share those exact sentiments, for bass on a system ,I love to listen to the track how high the moon from the Sonny Rollins album with a contemporary jazz leaders, It's a trio track cuz I think they were waiting on Hampton Hawes and Shelly Manne to show up. The bass player was the amazing Leroy Vinnegar, along with some of Barney Kessels best playing, unbelievably dynamic recording of Rollins too. But on a great system you can just soak in the walking base solo. Another underrated album for acoustic bass is Branford Marsalis' album trio jeepy, especially the tracks with Milt Hinton, for a late '80s recording it's amazing, Delfaeyo marsalis always had a line in his production notes that this recording was recorded without the dreaded use of " bass direct

Great video! I'm new to the vinyl community and posted my first video about 7 weeks ago, even have a video about my journey into Jazz. I came across your channel last week. I liked what I was seeing and learning and subbed to your channel immediately. This post is another great one turning me on to artists I don't know. Thanks for that. Cheers

Johnny Hartman and John Coltrane together are an unbeatable combination especially for ballads.

Ron McClure’s latest album has been great getting great reviews and seems to be very popular. Ron is great on his upper register playing.

I've got the Max Gerl. I've got all the J. M. I. recordings. IMHO they haven't produced a clinker.

CTI is not so much about smooth jazz to me as the actual sound quality of their recordings which amazes me with Rudy Van Gelder at the helm.

I second that. My CTI jazz records still sound great. They are all keepers.

@@kenmicallefjazzvinylaudiop6455 OF COURSE. I GOT EVERYTHING by him besides 2 rare nip ones, plus the 2 Perception lps I threw outta my window in 96. They cracked when they hit the asphalt 8 stories below ..in the wee wee hrs. The Musicor lp also suxx, discoishly so.
      2) didya know the entire VOA archive has been sold to a private operator who intends to scrap-split it ???. I ve suggested to the ch TEN MINUTE RECORD REWIEWS that is connected to approach FRED C 4 a consultation. Have you heard anythjng about it ? They should start a Smithsonian type of museum of recorded music history, not tear it apart. $135 000 was the win price @ a gov auction, they claim @ the ch . Lots of Lex Av duplicates, but covers / lbls marker-tarnished. O er

Hey Ken don't know if you have ever heard "Hands" by Brian Bromberg, but if you like solo stand up bass you'll dig this one. I believe it was originally a Japanese only release, but it have been reissued. Cheers!

    2) Didya know the entire VOA archive has been sold to a private operator who intends to scrap-split it ???? I ve suggested 2 mos ago to the ch TEN MINUTE RECORD REVIEWS that is connected to approach FRED C for a consultation. Have u heard anything about it. The buyer seems to be a middleman front. They shoild start a Smithsonian type of museum of recorded music history, NOT TEAR IT APART. $135 000 was the win price @ a gov auction site, the channel claims. Lots of Lex Av duplicates included, but covers/lbls marker-tarnished = semi-trashed. Tell Fred. Check the channel. O er
