    I am a Criminal Justice major and after watching all these videos of Danny, I started looking into isolation in prison and how they are treated and I truly thinking about having my career path helping those individuals in prison and talking to them and working with them on whatever. I feel like the US prison system is corrupt and no good. I would like to start a rehabilitation program for all prison in the U.S. to make a change because this system is set for them to fail. I know it’s a true long reach goal but I got spark the fire to start it.

      @JackBarrett7 6 років тому +17

      Idk how many prisons you've been inside of, but, as far as being "tough", American prisons are a joke. The reason America has the highest population of incarcerated people isn't because of a corrupt court system, its because there's no real punishment involved in the event of recidivism. As the name suggests, they're no longer "penitentiaries" , they're "correctional facilities". Like a corner you send a child to. The U.S. should look to Europe, or Russia, for models.

    • @teergeret
      @teergeret 6 років тому +44

      @@JackBarrett7 europe? Really? A european prison is in no way any tougher than an american prison. But we've got education programs and things like that. Plus we don't send em to prison for decades for non-violent offenses basically making them real criminals because they spent so much time with murderers

    • @JackBarrett7

      @@teergeret which European prison have u been in?

    • @ReyOfLight
      @ReyOfLight 6 років тому +26

      Most European countries, at least in Western Europe is all about rehabilitation and giving people a new chance in life (unless they’re in for life of course, in which case they still have access to education) people can even get university degrees while incarcerated in many European countries. The punishment of prison in European countries is mostly just the loss of freedom. While European prisons are better there’s still a lot to improve here as well. But it’s not nearly as bad as USA where it’s all about punishment and wanting people to fail, not to mention too many are treated very badly by both prison staff and fellow inmates. If someone wasn’t bad when they went in, you bet they might be when they get out because of the lack of rehabilitation and access to education in USA, and how people are treated. Joe, Dave and Danny are very lucky to have made it out into the free world and actually doing well again. Especially Danny who was locked up for so long and in such terrible conditions for so long. I’m so grateful that Danny has the APS peeps supporting him and helping him manage in the free world!
      I have not been to prison myself, but a very good friend of mine has been, and my friend is another of the lucky ones, partly because he’s in Europe so he had access to various programs while incarcerated that increased the chance to succeed in the free world, and partly because he has people around him that loves him to bits and doesn’t judge the past, and that too helps with doing well in the free world.

      @@ReyOfLight I can say I saw tiny yellow elephants in prison, and you may have faith in me, that doesn't make it true. The prisons you're referring to are largely in Northern Europe, in Scandinavian countries. I don't know why otherwise intelligent people believe these sociopaths when they talk about the harshness of U.S. prisons. 30-40 years ago, they were a lot harsher. But the federal statute that mandated maximum allowable time in solitary confinement was well in place when Danny here was incarcerated. What's being missed here is that hes expressing his anguish, and ascribing actual events to it that simply are not factual. There isn't one corroborating account from any other prisoner at any of the facilities he was in that even vaguely resembles what hes saying. You're forgetting that hes uneducated, and spent the majority of his adult life in custody. He cannot understand the principles and standards to which the rest of society adheres to. Perfect example: a case study at Brown. Two groups were blindfolded, and put in a locked room. They were given an identical list of rules, with the exact same wording. Group As 'handler' spoke the instructions. Group B heard the same instructions shouted angrily at them. When asked about their experiences, which remember were identical, Group A reported nothing unreasonable. Group B developed anxiety, anger, and fear, and said the instructions and NOT the handlers, were nightmarish and unreasonable, with 95% exaggerating the 'verbal abuse'. The only difference was that Group B internalized it. He may have been tortured, but no one subjected him to torture. To an athlete, a five mile run is a warm up, to a couch potato, its torture IF HES FORCED TO DO IT.

Stop wishing him "over react" just because he opens up and tells evrth straight about himself on public .ppl with negative mind like urs shouldnt comment on his video !he is open so others can learn to NOT make same mistakes he did when he was younger and over reacting! I have to be honest, at first I had strong feelings of mistrust and looking down on ex-cons, with time and watching your videos I can see that you're all very much the same as anyone else. I think a lot about how life hands people a set of circumstances and it's really very easy to start with a few bad decisions that snowball into a lifetime lost to incarceration and people hurt connected to those choices.
    I'm proud of you guys, Joe, Dave, Danny, and others that have managed to begin turning things around. You're good people, and you care about doing right for each other. Your example and attitude give me hope when the world wants us all to believe everything is just going to hell... It's really not, and we need more positive videos like yours. Im watching this video in June 2020. Danny comes across as a guy that found himself whilst in those shit holes. It doesn't happen to many of us but those that take the time to turn their minds inwards and use the time to become a better person can achieve miracles. Prison can be a negative experience or a positive one, its totally up to the individual. I did half of what Danny did and think that I came through the other end a better person than what I started out. I read, I worked out, I educated myself, I did all of those things that I never had time to do on the streets. Danny comes across as a mild mannered, educated and self aware person that found himself whilst away. I hope that he is still out, I hope that he is doing well and I hope that he continues to grow.
    Good for you man.

    I’m from Florida an dealt with hurricanes and tropical storms..I got out of prison in ‘02 and I was doing well two jobs going to school getting my life together. About 1 1/2 years later we had hurricanes that hit back to back to back hurricanes it was crazy but the thing it did was,it’s hard to explain but it was like an inter balance they threw off. I wasn’t the same afterwards. I dropped classes lost a job and just didn’t have the fire I had once I got out. It was soon as the the last hurricane hit.........learn from me , stay strong, talk to people daily about what’s going on in your head, keep busy.. I wish I could go back in time because things took a turn right there.. I haven’t been back however.

      Sauron The Great if he's out of jail and is currently working then how does he not deserve everything he has gotten? I get that you don't like the current content. To each his own but its not "sucking his dick" it's congratulating him on a life well turned around. Everyone needs that support factor prisoner or not.

    Idk if a bike/scooter is the best vehicle for a guy who hasn't even driven a car on the regular for 30-40 years or whatever. Two wheeled vehicles take some practice to not get yourself killed. Glad he didn't get hurt worse.

      Cars are overrated. Scooters are the best and saves you hell of money

      Here in Kentucky, scooters that are 50cc, you don't need a license, with Joe, he had all of these charges that kept him from getting his license.

      Lmao your an idiot. A moped is absolutely nothing to drive. There's a difference between a moped and a Harley, bud.

      Danny needed transportation and it's the only thing you can drive without a license. So there's no choice.
