One of the most well-known places of worship, "Thirukazhukundram," is situated 70 km from Chennai and is bordered on both ends by Chengalpattu and Mahabalipuram. Shiva lingam, the main god of this temple, sits majestically atop a mountain in this town, "Vedagireeswarar," one of the oldest Shiva temples. Lord Shiva is seated atop the mountain, while his wife, Lordess Thirupurasundari, resides at the "Thaazakoil" temple at the foot of the mountain.
