do you happen to have any buddies who have a CFMoto? Between the reliability & turf mode unlocked diff, I'm thinking about biting the bullet & getting one of these, but holy smokes the CFmoto machines present a good value. I wonder how much one of those would eat grass
Have had both Polaris and Honda ATVs on the farm now for over 35 years, had over 10 of them now... back in the 90s when they were trikes even lol, all the old Hondas are now used by the grandkids, the Polaris are wrecks in my back yard. Since 2011, I only buy Honda's now, they are simply the best, Yamaha's too.
I own a farm, but like to play in the mountains. I had done all my research on the fun uses and was impressed with the drive shaft there also. You did a great job answering my farm questions. Reliability to me is money and time. And I don't like losing either. Thanks
Being its an older Pioneer, check to see that the free clutch basket and cover upgrade has been done. Also extend fuel tank and trans vent lines under seat. Love my Pioneer, also had a RZR. Honda is 100 times more reliable.
@@JMfarmandcattle More oil holes in the clutch basket, and larger oil supply in the cover. More oiling and clutches run much cooler after upgrade and dont burn up. Was an issue with 16-17. Free from Honda and way less chance of future issues.
The transmission is a huge advantage over the belt drives. They just drive so much better. But the bed/box on these machines isn’t as work ready as a gator. We traded in our gator on a pioneer 1000LE. The gator had a single tailgate release like a truck and the electric dump bed which was nice.
Just bought one this year myself, and agree with everything he is saying. I don't need full cab enclosure, so can't comment on that. But these are strong, durable, reliable UTV's, and 4 drive modes cover anything you need to do with it. And I love the Transmission! I have a friend with John Deere, his tranny squeals in downhill descents..............sounds god awful. He says he wishes he had looked at the Honda!!
Nice job on listing detailed info on pros and cons. I too have been comparing Polaris and needed real life experiences inform the Honda. I think I am sold on the Pioneer now, but the price is a deterrent for sure. Thank you!
The Dual Clutch Auto Trans on the Honda is sick... much much better.. But probably one of the main reasons it costs so much. You get what you pay for though!
Seems to me Honda is the working mans buggy. The Polaris videos are awesome for drag racing and playing but your a part time mechanic. I’m leaning toward Honda Thank you
Listen to multiple reviews and was surprised there was no mention in cab noise comparison. How did you rate the noise level inside the cab?.....I have driven the Rangers and noise/dust would be my main complaint especially when fully enclosed.
No I did not I hear good things about them but the one I priced was more expensive. I will say if you ever want to "play" around the Honda has amazing suspension!
Excellent review but I don’t think that you mentioned the price, which would have been helpful. But I guess if you need to know the price, you probably can’t afford it anyway. Good job, thanks for posting…
The transmission is a good concept but needs to be refined. The throttle surge and bucking over rough slower terrain is terrible. I bought one because I liked the transmission and my Polaris general has a small bed. Like everything about the pioneer BUT the herky jerky throttle surge caused from weird throttle pedal angle and transmission design while going over terrain that causes the driver’s led to bounce and move throttle pedal up and down like and old truck in granny low.
None of his cons were mechanical in nature. That says a lot. I have a 1980 Honda Civic that still gets 30 mph and is way fun to drive. Honda makes good stuff that lasts.
the gears are all shitty in automatic mode on this thing. its like it stays in gear 1 for too long and all the gears are designed to wear out parts faster(higher rpm) what a scam ride. i cant find anyway to reprogram them either currently.
Daniel Thomason actually you would not be better off. Honda is way more reliable and wont break belts. I plowed with a ranger and it only lasted 4 years and it was in the shop 3 times a year. Polaris sucks
The turf mode unlocks the rear differential so you won’t tear up your yard. Good review thanks for sharing

I appreciate your sharing your experience, exactly what we need to know. Thank you.

Good honest walk round Jesse, I've never liked belt drive transmissions either, good choice 💪💪
Being its an older Pioneer, check to see that the free clutch basket and cover upgrade has been done. Also extend fuel tank and trans vent lines under seat. Love my Pioneer, also had a RZR. Honda is 100 times more reliable.
What's the benefit of the clutch upgrade?
@@JMfarmandcattle More oil holes in the clutch basket, and larger oil supply in the cover. More oiling and clutches run much cooler after upgrade and dont burn up. Was an issue with 16-17.

Don’t worry you will be riding while the Polaris is in the shop 8 months out of the year.
Turf mode is open rear differential. Normal mode will force one wheel to slip when turning. Some models don’t offer turf mode.
Turf makes it 1 wheel drive the rearend isnt lock unless you havd in diff lock

A Honda will always get you home where as other brands with fancy stuff leaves you walking home when something breaks.
Thanks Jesse for the great info

I like how the dog comes before the wife for seating.

Can’t go wrong with a Honda
That's for sure!
Excellent presentation. Appreciate the post!
Oh and “turf” mode just unlocks the rearend
I was wondering that! Usually when I get something I mess with everything to see what it can all do but i never have on this one! Ha

Great honest review. 👍
Is the leg room same in both.i like leg room for being six feet plus..good video though
Dog Wife another person..... lol love the fact the dog got priority. LOL
Probably a dumb question but what is the minimal size trailer u would have to have to haul one of these?
My buddy has a polaris, they do make doors for it but i think they open suicide style.
Good video and if you put a little bigger tire on it and it’ll run faster. Thanks for sharing!
What do you think about the Massimo - t boss cuality?
Is it noisy. I had a 08 rzr that was super loud. Thanks
Is it still going good today?
Great review! Thanks 👍
Did you try out the JD Gator? Trying to decide between an XUV 835 and the pioneer 1000
No I did not I hear good things about them but the one I priced was more expensive. I will say if you ever want to "play" around the Honda has amazing suspension!
A real world reviewer instead of a professional reviewer who won't cut up a brand too much because he wants the manufacture's perks.
Excellent review but I don’t think that you mentioned the price, which would have been helpful. But I guess if you need to know the price, you probably can’t afford it anyway. Good job, thanks for posting…
What's the overall width on this Honda pioneer 1000

Buy a Throttle Maxx pedal. You will absolutely love it.
Thank me later.
😂visions of driving the old TK Bedford flooding back
Are you going to the Farm progress show in Decatur Ill in August..✌🇺🇸🐮🇺🇸🚜
I not for sure. I would like too!
what year is it ?

Enjoyed the video
Riding a Honda 1000 is like riding in a oven, I have a 2016 thank god someone wants to buy it, So now I can go get a Polaris
They are warm but the Polaris is the same way. On heavy haul jobs the Polaris constantly overheats compared to the Honda
All SXS are hot in the cabs, especially with any type of enclosure.
Thats when you break out the ATV and have the wind blowing through the hair.
Good review
Wow I learned a lot!!!
Are these street legal??
Anyone notice the "roach" in the ashtray?
Charles Moore 😂
🏆🏆🏆🤗🙏
Thank you for sharing
Resale is great.
Yes. Turf makes it 1 wheel drive.
Polaris heat and air , North Star, runs around 33k
Japanese always reliable.
The wife gets higher priority at home over the dog so fairs fair
👍
Price?
15.5 new

6 SPEED
Its just not big enough enough needs more tire i wanna ve able to follow my brother in law he has a 18 can-am commander lol
DO NOT Buy a used version from this guy ! lol
Dog, wife...
For what your using it for you would be much better off with a ranger...just as reliable
Daniel Thomason actually you would not be better off. Honda is way more reliable and wont break belts. I plowed with a ranger and it only lasted 4 years and it was in the shop 3 times a year. Polaris sucks
Plowed with it, lol. That's what tractors are for
@@greggroseclose3475 Or get the Pioneer and do both
