- Running out of gas can be a frustrating and inconvenient experience, especially when it happens on your motorcycle. If you find yourself in this situation on the RFK Bridge, here are a few steps you can take to get back on the road:
Stay calm: It can be easy to get frustrated or panicked when you run out of gas, but it is important to stay calm and think through your options.
Find a safe place to pull over: Look for a safe place to pull over, such as a shoulder or rest area. Make sure you are visible to other drivers and avoid stopping in the middle of the road.
Call for help: If you do not have a gas can or are unable to safely walk to a gas station, consider calling for help. You can ask a friend or family member for assistance, or use a service like AAA to get a fuel delivery.
Consider your options: If you are unable to get a fuel delivery or do not have a way to get gas, you may need to consider alternative transportation options. This could include calling a ride-sharing service, using public transportation, or even walking if the distance is manageable.
By following these steps, you can help get your motorcycle back on the road and continue your journey. Remember to always be prepared and keep a full tank of gas, and consider carrying a gas can as a backup in case of emergencies.

@Miss Rebel, always make sure you top off your gas tank, but the great thing about Motorcycles is the gas reserve..
"Gotham Depot Moto" is really awesome lounge/secure safe place to store your Motorcyle for the winter too.
yeah I always top off my gas tank, the only thing is that the DR650 uses more gas in the city. GDM is a cool community, I like to go there sometimes.
@Miss Rebel Moto.
Normally riding a motorcycle on city roads will increase gas consumption, but if you think your bike has excessive high gas
consumption then it could be that your bike might need a valves & timing adjustment, or you may consider replacing spark plugs, or it can also be poor quality engine oil, and lastely you may want to check your brake pads to make sure they aren't too tight especially when your brake pads start to wear off.
P.S. Check your air filter to make sure is clean enough.
I had that happen yesterday on my new DR 650 😁 luckily it has the reserve. That looks like a really cool event! 👍
since the dr650 doesn't have a fuel gauge, you need to watch those miles.
This happened to me on the FDR, I had no fuel gauge and the low level light was also not working. Luckily I ran out right before the 92nd street exit and lucky again that there is a gas station right there. From then on I refilled every 150 miles no matter what until I could finally get the reserve light fixed.
This is my second time running out of gas ⛽️ on the RFK bridge. The Dr650 doesn’t have a fuel gauge so you just count miles. I really enjoy riding the bike until the last drop of gas 😅I should change this bad habit
