- When Ryan Lane broke up with the mother of his child-his world fell apart.
Like a lot of broken relationships that involve children, the two parents were fighting over custody of their little girl. It was getting worse by the day and Ryan had not been able to see his daughter in two years. He finally went to court where he was granted visitation.
On February 6, 2012 he was finally reunited with his four-year-old daughter. They spent time eating, playing and laughing together at a local restaurant. It was one of the happiest days of Lane’s life.
That night, Lane Skyped with one of his closest friends and shared videos of the playdate. Just before midnight, that chat was interrupted when Lane got a call from a phone booth.
He rushed out to meet the caller at a nearby strip mall. That was the last time Lane was ever seen.
Calgary police detectives used every possible investigative strategy to try and find Lane.

There is something about watching a broken father crying for his boy that is just so heartbreaking to me.....
There are so many men that want nothing to do with their kids and you kill this one because he actually wants visitation and a role in his daughter’s life? 😤
Sheena had the nerve to claim that Ryan was never in his daughter's life and then he just showed back up. She was indignant about it. Unreal.
She stole his child and disappeared without ever contacting him for 2 years. Her lack of self awareness is positively off the charts.
She not only took Ryan's life, destroying his family, but she took everything from her own daughter ... how selfish and wicked a "mother" can be! And the other two really have to have a basic criminal instinct to participate in such a plot as well. The police, the court and the jury did a good job, although I don't think they deserve the possibility of parole, especially her.
I hope that little girl and Ryan's family can have a strong and loving life.
Women need to stop denying shared custody of a child. That father had just as much right as the mother. Shame on her for denying the child love.
I couldn’t imagine the fathers pain. He was so close yet so far away. Anyone that stresses to come alone is a huge red flag.

I can’t believe how traumatized the father must feel. The dad did everything right and unfortunately the son was so desperate to get his daughter back that he wasn’t thinking clearly and got in a stranger’s vehicle. At that point you already know the evil ex was behind this senseless crime.

Relieved that Ryan's murder did not go unpunished. Hope his family finds the strength needed to move forward from this horrendous tragedy.
It angers me how the child's mother says he hadn't seen his kid in how long and now he wants to see his daughter. UM EXCUSE ME U FKN TOOK OFF WITH HER, disappeared from him having contact. Thank god Ryan's dad went with Ryan cuz these 3 would of gotten away with this murder I think they thought Ryan did come alone, unnecessary bs all cuz he wanted to be a dad. The father breaks my heart. He is so broken up, it is obvious what a special relationship he had with his son. And the selfie the mom has on her phone! Heartbreaking!

If he would had chosen to not be in her life, someone would had called him a deadbeat father and when he tried to be in her life, he then got murdered. It’s very sad and heartbreaking. RIP Ryan.

Oh this poor father. As a parent this would haunt me with guilt every single day for the rest of my life. It's obviously not his fault, but that doesn't matter. I feel awful for him.

What would make this absolutely tragic story have a little glimmer of happiness, is if Ryan's parents or even his sister gained full custody of Ryan's sweet little Jordan. Since that is what he was fighting for, that would be the best way to honor his memory!

So devastating that a young man is killed only because he wants to see his daughter. This is so sickening, I can't even comprehend it. There's no mention of him being abusive so what was the issue. This makes me so angry to think people can take a life for no valid reason.

When I saw that truck bed full of wood when the kid got in, then it was empty at the car wash I knew they burned his body.....
Wow, that was sad. Even though the 3 conspirators were found guilty there just isn't a happy ending. By killing Ryan that little girl has lost both parents. Granted her mother is alive, she behind bars. There was obviously no thought put into how killing Ryan would affect his daughter. Shame on this 3.
When he was washing his truck and there was no wood in the back anymore, I knew immediatly that they burned him.

Ryan was being a loving, concerned dad. Something some children never have today and crave. And he was murdered for doing something good that would make his daughter feel loved and secure. Everyone loses. No winners.

The lady from the show replied to someone that they could not go into details regarding Jordan’s current situation due to privacy, but said she is in a loving home and that Ryan’s parents are a part of her life ♥️

Wow what a sad story. Fact : kids need their fathers. This is just sad knowing dad wanted relationship with child and the mother was too selfish to let that happen and now that poor kid is without either of them. What a selfish lady.

Ryan's mom is either a very strong woman or just emotionless. I couldn't imagine losing my child and not showing any emotion towards it. I would be so devastated and crying like the dad was.
It was so obvious all three were 100% guilty. How on earth did they think they would get away with it? Even if Ryan’s dad hadn’t followed him and seen the red truck etc I think the police would have been onto them anyway as no one else had a motive.
Clearly the ex was behind this. Reminds me of the Greg Mulvahill case where the ex Diana Lovejoy had a guy call Greg to have them meet in private to “discuss the custody case”

this is beyond horrific, what an absolute cruel and unnecessary murder. His father is so grief stricken it breaks my heart, the feelings he must be going through watching his son disappear in that truck and unable to catching up with it. Immensely grateful for the dilligent police work being able to discover Ryans remains. For those murderers rot in hell you deserve so much worse.

These 3 deserve exactly what they got. However, having been through a custody battle myself I also blame the custody laws. Both the mother and father should have 50% shared rights to their children automatically. The fact that the mother automatically gets custody when children are young is just plain wrong and needs to change
The father's grief! I can only imagine the guilt he has as well. I pray for his healing.
It's a terrible thing when a person claims to love their child, but really just wants to possess them. By not letting a man see his daughter, that's exactly what the mother was doing.
