Turn that shutter up to 1/120 or higher and your jitters will vanish completely. 1/60 is too low to not get jitters with lights. But this footage looks gorgeous. Just crank that shutter. And ISO. It’ll remove all jitters.
To improve Rocksteady's low-light performance, set the shutter speed to 1/120. Rocksteady doesn't work well below 1/100 shutter. In automatic mode I usually use 1/200~1/8000 for the day, and 1/120~1/8000 for the night, this way I guarantee that the stabilization will always work.
@@james.loxton Nice bro. The quality of footage that you get with your own settings is way better than this "SuperNight(mare)" mode that they put on it, even with a Action 3 hahaha. See ya.
Can you please confirm both screens show live display simultaneously *while recording video* at 4k120 (and if not, at 4k60)? This was a limitation on the action 4 and I cannot find if this was fixed.
Can Osmo Action 5 Pro be used for recording at night? It has a higher ISO than the Osmo Action 4 and a dedicated night mode. The Osmo Pocket 3 does not disappoint at night when recording, only that when you use it on a chest mount or backpack, the gimbal moves where it wants, sometimes it films too low, only records the feet or sometimes it runs from side to side for no reason apparent.
Just picked this up. Gonna a get some Vids up shortly. Are you using a gimbal in these shots? I was toying with the idea of using the hohem steady v3 phone gimbal as I need something versatile I can also use with my phone. I seen a few Vids made like that and I like the results.
Glad you liked Orlando (I used to live there) - you are right the Pocket 3 is much better at night, I just bought the Action 5 Pro and I honestly am not impressed with the low light performance, blurry and noisy - I have had loads of cameras in the past that are better at night - I want to do some London night videos so maybe I'll also get a Pocket 3 . . . .
@@james.loxton ideally both are needed but funds allow just one 😂 the action is a must for adventure stuff but the talking head shots look way better from the pocket 3. Less wide
It's good in many ways, but Super Night Mode (SNM) is not one of them! Right now, the Ace Pro does better in lowlight. And with the Ace Pro 2 due to launch in a few weeks, I think it's a good idea to hold off until we see what that can do.
Brother i see you record on the pocket 3. I have question about the AUTO tracking mode. When i bought the camera and when i turned it on it autmaticly tracked my face. alslo there is a mode about that but now they just dont work. To track me i have to double tap. Please tell me why is this about. I even factory reset the camera, i calibrated the gimble but still nothing and the camera is new.
If you top down swipe in the top right corner make sure ft selfie is turned on , so whenever the gimbal faces you it will automatically search for your face , when it’s spun the other way you have to double tap subjects
Every non super night clip has jitters all over the place. 1/60 shutter is not fast enough to be effective with Rocksteady stabilization. You really need 1/200 shutter minimum to get rid of the jitters. But, of course then it will be too dark to be usable. 1/100 shutter will have less jitters and be bright enough to be usable in many cases.
I see plenty of mixed reviews on the action 5.. I will wait for many updates to happen before getting it.. Until then am super happy with the pocket 3.
Avoid Normal Color. Shoot in dlog 10-bit M. Adjust Image to -2 Noise Reduction, -2 Texture, and a -0.3 EV. Drop a Rec 709 LUT on it when editing and all of the complaints that I also hated about the Action 5 Pro mostly go away. Have yet to mess with its low-light but its better than any other action camera besides the Insta 360 Ace Pro but that to me looks like crap with it's 8 bit over processed look you can't get rid of. This is where the Pocket 3 shines anyways. With the Action 5 it is doable to get rid of a lot of the complaints and I think with an update this camera is going to be the one to own. It pairs well with the Pocket 3. I also own of of those as well.
It's incredible just how much the image quality drops at night and using standard with high ISO. There is so, so much noise reduction going on the image is terrible in both standard and super night although supernight mode is even worse. In daytime the Action 5 Pro has magnificant image quality at night with you having to ramp up the ISO the image quality become dreadful. I'm watching on a calibrated 55" Sony 4k tv which is connected to my gaming laptop via HDMI. I think it's still safe to say action cameras are rubbish at night, yes they can get a nicely exposed image but the image quality plummets to terrible levels.
To be honest, the only cartoonish thing in the video was your laugh. Is everything ok? About the came and footage I think this is an amazing leap for action cameras. Just like stabilization was a few years ago.
No 1" sensor + good dark-light recording at 60 fps + higher than 100 Mb/s bitrate = yet another action camera fail in my books just like the rest of them (eg. GoPro). Hopefully the Ace Pro 2 will change that but I doubt it.
na, this ain't it, forget about that dumbass 180 degree rule and bump the shutter speed faster than 2 times the framerate, as others said, at least 1/120.
Low light recordings are disappointing, I returned the camera after 2 days. The moving images are much too woolly, absolutely no sharpness in the images. Had expected more from the transition from 4 to 5, even the fast moving ones in daylight are less than on the Action 4. The only plus in daylight/sun better visible screen..
yeah I was really disappointed with the new low light mode, hopefully they can fix some of the over processing in a firmware update which will make it much better 🤞🏾

literally just went back on my action 4 vids and I did exactly what ur saying, dunno why it completely passed me to do it with the action 5 😭😭
