That's why we fear them. As a grade level opening batsman I can tell you there are some balls which are utter brutes. Scary stuff. Vale Philip Hughes.

Jimmy started in Tests as a genuine fast bowler. He had more success (and of course made his career last) by slowing down in the interests of accuracy. But early on he had a wicked bouncer.

As much as I love watching Bouncers being bowled (whoever the Bowler may be & whichever the team may be) the one at Sachin in this clip I hate the most since he was on 99 (was probably injured during his innings) & would've definitely made the century otherwise. That on hindi sight hurts the most as a Sachin fan as he has 49 ODI centuries & with that one in the World Cup none the less the count would've been 50 & all the other close ones wouldn't matter.

A batsman should hit a straight drive, aiming right at the bowlers head. It's the bowler's job to get out of the way. Maybe they can reduce their run up, which will help them move out of the line, so that they don't break their heads. Or they could wear all the protective equipments that batsmen wear, I guess.

Pre Helmut , batsmen had more skill playing bouncers because you just couldn't duck into the bouncer and let it hit your Helmut . pre Helmut most batsman played back and across as bowler lets honor the ball . some of these guys are actually playing forward into the bouncer
