As a Dubs fan, that Rookie Of the Year race between Steph and Tyreke was one of the things that added to what was a burgeoning regional rivalry (with Monta Ellis and Kevin Martin filling that role before them) Dont get me wrong, this was no classic Celtics vs Lakers type rivarly, because the Dubs and Kings had never been good at the same time, but the Kings had just made the playoffs in 06, and the Dubs in 07 before becoming lottery teams again, and it was something for us bad teams to rally around 😅

I just want to go more in depth on DC's explanation: He could not score from ANYWHERE, except under the rim. No midrange, no floaters, but surprisingly he could score from the FT line a bit. No one could stay in front of Tyreke so it wasn't obvious until defenders got used to his play. In his rookie year, 88% of his shots were taken from 0-3 feet. Thats not even a proper floater to be honest, all layups.
His size and athletic ability/old school bump helped. Should have changed his jumper from scratch like Rose did. Just wasn't the same player after the knee injuries.
Can’t really say the game started to really change due to Steph’s impact until around 2015 when he started to take over.
