The REAL Reasons TYREKE EVANS Was BANNED From The NBA! Stunted Growth

- This video is about the 3 reasons Tyreke Evans was BANNED from the #nba. On May 17, 2019, Tyreke Evans was banned from the NBA for violating the terms of its Anti-Drug Program that prohibits drug abuse. He is eligible to apply for reinstatement in 2021. It’s 2022 now and my instagram feeds are filled with Tyreke Evans workout clips that have people excited that maybe this means the 32 year old, drafted before 2 time MVP Steph Curry is attempting an NBA comeback. If you’ve been watching basketball at least since 2009 you understand how shocking that news is to hear of the former 4th overall pick that came in and saw instant success as a rookie, doing something only Oscar Robertson, Michael Jordan, and LeBron James had up to that point. 20 year old Tyreke Evans was poised to become at least a star in the NBA and prove many right that believed in his potential since he was a star high school basketball player, ranked top 5 in his class averaging 32 points 9 rebounds 6 assist and 4 steals. He was a star. And then things went downhill and surprising. That in 10 years he’d be banned from the NBA. What Happened?

Can Tyreke Evans still help a contending team? Lakers?
Possibly! Not sure if any acquisition can help the Lakers rn though
@@ItsJWandoe Could be better than Stanley Johnson
Yep. Almost any player can help any team if the players mindset is correct. I.e Eric snow helped the sixers with his defense
@@stuntedgrowth that’s a fact! Tyreke held it down for that ‘09 draft class and still has tread left
@@ItsJWandoe Solid numbers for his career. I still think he could get off in the league.
He was best at Point Guard but they would always put him at other positions. I never understood it
Me too. Never
I definitely remembered him as a SF 😂
@@Freethewordtv that's the point I'm making lol. They would put him at SF and he was actually better at PG. Whether he was in High School, College or the Pros he was successful at Point Guard
Agreed
Taking the ball out of his hands was foolishness
i’m only guessing his top body frame, man i thought he was gonna give Sac hope no cap . would take him on knicks rn
They need to let Reke get back to Reking Havoc lol. I swear since day 1.. this brother reminded me so much of The Black Widow. Bka, Tyron "Alimoe" Evans. Reke's handles, dexterity, and ability to finish below the rim, was so unique and fun to watch. Reke can get you 30, all off dribble drives, hesitations, euro steps, and crazy off the glass reverse english layups. As Nate Robinson once said.. "Tyreke Evans is the 'layup King' I swear.". This brother made layups look so sweet. He had every layup known to man, in his bag, Along with all the crossovers, hesitations, and euros, to get to the basket at will. Though Reke was limited in other areas of his game.. his length, wiry strength, and sick dribble drive game.. he would've been a main stay in the league.
That’s why I always loved his game… That’s a great comparison… Alimoe(RIP)
@@wc6081 yeah gang. Literally, the first ever "Ballislife" reel I seen of this brother giving buckets to the Mean Streets Express AAU team featuring the great Derrick Rose, and Eric Gordon. I was like.. "Yo who is this Alimoe looking kid giving D.Rose and Eric Gordon crazy buckets???". Lol. It literally felt like I was watching Alimoe reincarnated (although he still was alive at the time circa 2007). The long arms, darksin thin tall frame, super low dribbles with the unorthodox looking jumper. I mean, it like literally seeing Alimoe, all over again. Reke gave us a glimpse, of what Alimoe could've been, if he stayed out the streets, and went to Fresno State like he was supposed to. But RIP to the god Tyron "Black Widow/Alimoe" Evan's. And free Reke.
@@araynova True Indeed Lord🤞🏾
Your nailed it with the comparison. I thought no one else notice that they had similar playing styles. Talk about ball on a string.
He was Ja the new layup king though!
my freshman year of highschool i would endlessly watch Tyreke Evans HS mixtape. He was a senior when I was a freshman and I wanted to play like him so bad. So smooth, confident and dominate. Too bad both our careers ended up being disappointments
Lmao the last part
Someone in the League clearly has a grudge against Tyreke and OJ Mayo.
Nah...They fucked up.
Especially oj
Yup, and it's name is cocaine.
@@ShawnDeLaCruz a bunch of them 70'S AND 80'S NBA STARS WERE ON COCAINE, AND ARE IN THE HALL OF FAME
OJ played the same way since HS.
I disagree with the DWade/Brandon Roy take though…an organization like the Kings…destroys young talent, it’s a shame.
Broy was that guy!
@@stuntedgrowth oh I know…it’s just that DWade was athletically and defensively on another level. Trust me, my heart sank when BRoy got injured and couldn’t recover. I loved his game.
I was a big Reke fan, so this one stung a little. I think he could definitely be helpful for a contender in the league because teams are literally looking for instant offense off the bench everyday! The Nets and the Lakers can still use someone like him !
Chester. Pa stand uo
After Tyreke's rookie season I thought he'd take off average like 25+ppg, 7+ apg, maybe 5 to 7 rpg but like you said, Sacramento took the ball out of his hands. I thought he'd be named to at least a few all star teams but that never happened.
I remember the rookie sophomore game from Tyreke's rookie year. He won the MVP of that game but thought DeJuan Blair should've won it ( I believe he had 23 points and 22 rebounds). With that said, you should do a stunted growth video on DeJuan Blair. He was drafted later than expected (2nd round) but thought he'd have a solid career and would be a solid rebounder even though undersized.
Nah he should do Dejuan wagner
@@seanlamar29 He already did 1 on him
He was the precursor to LaMelo Ball imho.
Dejuan had no acl in both knees
Harden was like u don't want it ok I'll take the career u was supposed to have😂
Stunted Christian Laettner video? 🤷🏽♂️
Got You
He was an Allstar tho... not really stunted.
@@matthewmayle0711 compared to his success in college and the expectations he was stunted imo
@@matthewmayle0711 Never made the all star
@@stuntedgrowth made an all star in 97
This one hurt my heart because I really thought Tyreke Evans and DeMarcus Cousin was going to be that duo for the future 😪
Evans couldn’t shoot and always went right. Cousins never wanted to play defense and doesn’t have the focus to beat the best teams in the post season. They were never going to win together in their prime.
@@jswin2084 🧢🧢🧢 ya say anything on here
@@DiorInEveryStore facts. Not sorry
He could have a Jamal Crawford 6th man career for the next 3 years if he finds the right situation…I could see him being a good 6th man for the sixers, clippers or nets!!!
Bulls. Help Ayo Dosunmu develop his offensive package as well...
Nah he's washed
Shareef Abdur Rahim anyone?
Evans was (and still is!) such a smooth player. He has a very natural and instinctual way of playing basketball
When talking about caliparis point guard history, never forget the original Dejuan Wagner!
Facts! Gotta re do his story
Wagner was an undersized 2 Guard. He definitely had game
I gotta disagree @jordanwilson Dejuan was a scoring point guard before they were popular
Your editing is next level mate bloody love it..peace bro💪🤙💯
Tyreke Evans is from my hometown of Chester, Pa. His name definitely rings bells in my city when it comes to basketball. Chester has had a few players in the NBA, including Jameer Nelson, Derrick Jones Jr, Rondae Hollis Jefferson, & Horace Walker. As well as John Linehan who went to Providence U, who was the all time steals leader when he left college. Chester has produced many professional athletes in football also.
Moving him from PG where he won ROTY to shooting guard and eventually the 3 where he no longer had a height advantage on d was such a terrible mistake. As a Kings fan I was so annoyed screaming at the TV nightly. He's clearly a PG.
With Tyrese’s game he’s ball dominate and the league was moving away from ball dominant players he was just in the wrong era sad to say the league is more off ball on ball now and Tyrese not that
Reke has always been one of my favorite players in the league. His game was so smooth too me, from his handles to how he got to the basket. Almost lance Stephenson like. It hurts that’s he’s been out of the NBA for sometime. Even at 32 I hope he can get back in the league and give some type of impact to a contending team.
Love your videos bro. Can't believe you don't have 3 or 4 hundred thousand subs by now
Tyreke was a straight killer in Sac at PG.. should've never been moved from that spot... Smh
New York Knicks should sign him ASAP!!
I agree with you. He plays best with the ball in his hands. He could easily be a second unit point guard on a contender. Think Shaun Livingston with the Warriors.
Warriors are working him out, nice call
I remember Tyreke would always try to finish with his right hand no matter how much he would have to contort his body in order to do so 😁
AI did the same thing
Yo Bro!! Thank You For This Jawn!!! I had beef wondering what happened with that Brotha. I would love to see him back in the League ❗️😎👍🏽👍🏽
Rookie tyreke evans was a bucket💯. I remember watching him break people every game 😂
Mane was hooping when he came to the grizzles he still had the handles and footwork
He was hooping when he played for the Memphis Tigers too.
The full names at the beginning of each video crack me the fuck up every time. You're doing excellent work my dude. These videos are some of the best content on the internet. Being a long time nba watcher I know there's a whole lot more of these coming. Bless
That finger roll is outta sight.
Reke Havoc was the nickname, total flashbacks. Thanks for this.
Watching this one made me think of OJ Mayo & Michael Beasley. I remember them moving Beasley back & forth SF/PF.
Great video Tyreke was a certified bucket
Need a video on Quincy Miller 👀
After watching this, I realized whatever happened to Dejuan Blair, him and Tryreke we co-MVPs of the rookie game if I recall correctly.
What stunted Shareef Abdur- Rahim growth?
Racism and discrimination tbh
that will forever be the problem in pro sports
He's been reinstated hopefully he signs with an NBA team in the near future
That Feb 1 2022 filter had me tripping for a min
Me too!
5:05 this hang dribble move was crazy. Back then few nba players had this
Vintage T-Mac move
Few have it now. When he did that hang dribble wide like that, this clip was from the baggy shorts Iverson era. Tyreke was the last dude I saw who had those free flowing instinctive handles. I will say this, that streetball style of play might be recycled with dudes playing on the outdoor courts. We just need to get rid of the ballislife crew and those tight uniforms. NBA uniforms fit like yoga pants now.
Another Gunning for the Number One Spot documentary alum!
tht dvd was fye'!
Reke was a PG from Day 1!! Fuck the Kings for messing up his career. It was nice seeing him ball out in Memphis though..
Moral of the story is the Kings wasted Boogies prime
Have you done a Mark Price one?
I thought his career was going to be star status especially after his rookie year that smooth handle attacking the basket being able to finish against contact... injuries and playing on teams where he couldn't dominate the ball as stated he not a great off the ball offensive player. Salute him and hopefully a team's gives him a chance again
Reke was still giving people problems in New Orleans with him, Jrue, Cousins, AD
great analysis
Reke handle is up there with kyries
Reke is from Chester, PA, but went to American Christian. Chester High Basketball needs a full documentary. Probably the most successful Basketball program in all of Pennsylvania
I couldnt even finish watching the video without commenting and agreeing with you on Tyreke having some of the best handles ever to play this game…. The man is 6’6 with a 7ft wingspan… hes impossible to stay in front of… he was gifted with a unique frame man… appreciate this video …hes in my top 5 personal fav players of all time!!!!
Just reinstated him 💯
Stunted Rodney Stuckey video? PLEASE would be nice ;)
Just out of curiosity, what is OJ Mayo doing now?
I peeped you had do a story on my bro kiwi. You should give pre history lessons on more Oakland hoopers like Damon Powell and will cherry who went to McClymonds . Jabari brown who went to Oakland high. It’s some dope players came out the town bro you should check it out.
Here after Reke got reinstated hoping hometown Sixers bring him in
Should do one on Terance Stansbury
3:18 The way he said “let’s get it” 👀
Wow didn't even realize he was drafted before Curry!! Crazy!!
Christian Laettner would be good...also, how bout OJ Mayo??
At his age they are going to throw him into the lower leagues to prove himself. Sometimes you have to take a step back to take a step forward. His style of game should dominate , if he still has it. Drugs are hard to come back from , sometimes the quitting does more damage if not weened off properly a lot of self damage could be expected.
Chester got so many good hoopers that never made it ...
Most def!you a Philly cat You Know what it is, gotta shout the first nationally known though, Jameer Nelson!
We got a lot of hoopers that have made it too
Charles Smith (ex-clippers and ex-knicks) stunted growth. 💯 that would be awesome
Do one on Eddie Robinson
I loved erob. We had season tickets when he was a bull lmao the Ron Mercer days
As a kings fan I was so excited for him. I remembered him on slam magazine. I still have his jersey (although I wanted an Isaiah Thomas jersey). Hope he can find success anywhere.

He became a pretty good 3pt shooter towards the end of his career
One if the smoothest handles ever!!
These videos are educational
Do the pf/C from back in the day jr reid stunted growth & jeff george
Jeff George the QB?
@@buzzerbeater3350 yes
@@millz3679 Boy, oh boy! I remember Jeff George. I remember people saying he had the strongest most accurate arm ever! Better than Elway, Moon and Marino. But he was a huge a-hole.
Bring him to the lake show. We will definitely take him. He would probably take a league minimum contract and get paid after this season
Anyone know if he will sign with the Bucks?
He was once known as the king of lay up!
Stunted Marshall Henderson video?
You and Flemlo Raps should do a collaboration one day. I'm just saying
You got to do a stunted growth on Shabazz Napier it you haven't done one yet. He was the man in college but definitely pan out in the pros.
The title doesn't name sense lol we know why he was banned but good video regardless.
If the bucks sign him he would be a solid option off the bench, dude is a really really good passer
Mane tyreke my dawg…fave pg before Russ, big dominant combo guard that could do anything…injuries and him getting kicked out the league as well as playing him out of position hurt him for sure…I loved his game he has top 5 handles I’ve ever seen plus same level of finishing as kyrie
His reverse lay up was very good
Tyreke was hella good.. He was a Lance Stevenson twin game wise but I liked Tyrekes over all game better.. Lance jus had a healthier body
He worked out for Milwaukee recently, that's the last I heard.
Yo, you should do Ronald Curry!
Coming from VA this dude had Lebron type hype until…well his growth was stunted
What drug was he banned for?
I didn't realize he had handle like that... damn
Damn this was my granny favorite playing when he was a rookie she says the king's always get rid of their good players before they blossom like I.thomas D.cousin
Mannnnnnnnnnnn I hate to see this Reke was SO COLD he has one of the Best handles in the league
TYREKE HAS JUST BEEN REINSTATED!!!! 👏👏👏
Plantar flashy-itis 💀
Do a Brandon Knight video.
To me he had the most underrated handles in the league
Wow they just reinstated him
Yoooo, uhhhhh. You might wanna change the picture the video shows. I can't imagine I'm the only one that watched this video thinking "oh sht is Tyreke into some messed up stuff?"(Chester usually doesn't refer to a town, when used to describe someone)
Might I add.... the most underrated handles ever too. His fucking ball control was so smooth, idk how he ALWAYS looked under control; cool, calm, collective (maybe the weed ha)- very similar to Derrick Rose, you rarely see any emotion positive or negative from him.
He was destined for hall of fame success after that incredible rookie year, couldnt tell me otherwise. He also had a very good jumpshot from almost anywhere and he was bigger than opposing guards. They played him at the 3 cause he was built like a NFL TE, but it was ineffective for him as an individual...he needs the ball in his hands.
I used to go crazy wit this dude on 2k
dude was goofy cold 😂😂
2 things: I was in attendance at the Mickey D’s HS All-American game and yes he was goin’ crazy! Second… Draymond Green’s GREATNESS is not in his numbers… but his overall CONTRIBUTION to winning and success! From top to bottom! WINNER! Put some respeck on his name when ya speak it! 💯🏆
Reke Hesi moves you can’t guard it lol 😆
Tyreke was so good coming into the league. I hate that he's banned.
Plz do Damon Bailey.
Them people couldn't do nothing with that dude on the court....
G-league will be a blessing for him
Moral of the story: Say no to drugs.
