I have found that if you can run a ship down the side of a unit like a burning head, it can absolutely delete units. Especially with full speed!
Do you have to target units while doing it in order to deal damage or can you just click the end destination and watch them go?
@@treydaniel3719 click to attack, to trigger charge bonus and 'swing' through the unit. Then click through/out. two different damages dealt by charges - contact damage from slamming mass into something, and damage from the attack they make on the unit

Thunderbarge: I’m one of the best units in the game!
Landship: So am I!
Turin: Are there any boats that don’t kill everything?
Necrofex Collossus:
Beaten at their own game 😔
The poor fool chose legs over giant steam engines
Landship are a bit too strong but Thunderbarge is horrifically over powered. Maybe less in Domination but in regular land battle and campaign (especially in Malakai’s faction) they’re just invincible.
the Wonder of an Age is just "Fuck Skaven" the Musical
Yes and no. I mean yeah, its weapons wreck Skaven, but Skaven also have the tools to kill it.
That would make for a great musical if it got into Broadway.
Yeah, I was wondering if shaven wouldn't just swiss cheese the big bastard

The Boats N' Hoes update working out great for the Empire 💯💯🛥🛥

Just dawned on me the trees on this map are absolutely huge. I mean, we got boats and minotaur running around and these cypress looking trees are like sky scrapers lol
Next time you're in a wood elf territory map, take a good look around. The underway fights near the World Tree in Warhammer 2 were so memorable for that.
@@bennyhill6248 I'll take a look, very cool detail I have missed thanks!

Lol 😂
Nah that's the neceofex...poor thing
I do feel like mentioning that new dlc units will always be powerful out of the gate and usually require 1-2 patches before being as they should be. I’m sure we remember when the chaos dwarfs were initially released and the current meta of kislev. But I am happy the op units are now on the factions I like to play
Boris be like “Take a good hard look at the motherf***ing boat”
Would never have imagined the landship is a whole 300 cheaper than a steam tank lol
Think the 300 extra is due to the engine size.
They’ve unleashed Turin’s dreaded value-trader Empire side
Power creep has been unreal this patch cycle
The next update they’ll have a unit that pulls a wagon with a mortar that pulls a wagon with a rocket that pulls a wagon with a cannon that pulls a wagon with a mortise engine that pulls a wagon with a dreadsaurian that has laser eyes and Godzilla breath.
They need to tone it down and really think about their universe. Why does the empire have better naval ground units than the faction dedicated to naval war (vampire counts)
The landship is manageable if you can shoot it from like 150+ range away, but that's not really an option for any of the melee rush factions. Like how are you supposed to deal with it on something like slaanesh or beastmen when it can just speed boost away from your melee units while automatically doing AP shots around itself? War wagons feel painfully uninteractive to play against already since units have a hard time sticking to them and they need to take a lot of damage to lose models and damage potential. Landship has everything people found irritating on war wagons and more. As an unbreakable single entity it's not losing any damage output throughout the game as it takes damage, it has effectively infinite ammo, lot of health and armour and combination of speed and mass to not get caught. Plus it works fine as a chariot. This thing could lose half of it's health, ammo and speed boost ability and still be viable on the current price point.
But warhammer nerds like the Empire and Dwarves so therefore it's "thematic"
Agreed it's boring as heck to play against or see casted.
Unbreakable, anti everything, always 100% dmg output, cant be bogged down, fastest unit in the game, not costly.
Armor piercing, ranged, skirmish units have been meta defining since Total War: W's inception. The land ship looks particularly egregious even within this unit archetype, but I am not shocked that this type of unit got added considering the multiplayer community has accepted the state of their meta for a long time now.
Land ships are going to be a very common thing for the empire to bring now. Especially against factions that don't really have good artillery like the chaos factions (excluding the chorfs), orcs and beastman. Though people have been saying it's overpowered when it is a massive artillery magnet the order dawi should have no problems shooting it with cannons and organ guns and thunderers until it's smashed.
and on top of that, thunderbarge hard counters landships xD
@@RoulicisThe I mean, you're making a pretty big assumption if you think Thunderbarges aren't getting banned from Comp PvP. They're bullet magnets like the Landship granted, but they're also tanky flying units with infinite ammo on the numerous, numerous secondaries. I don't think they can be balanced around unless they get hit with don't-pick-me gold price nerfs that'll auto-boot them from Comp's meta anyways.
@@Supercohboy even if they make it as pricy (or even more) as a the Shredder of Lustria it would still be picked because of how good the darn thing is xD
125 model starting army 😊
Dwarves:
OP boats? Hold my beer
I would like to see Landships made more fragile with lower mass to boot. It makes sense for them to be shooty but then terrible in melee and easy to bog down. That would give them a clear role. Landship with mega shooting and Dread Saurian durability makes no sense.
If it’s easy to bog down you’ve nerfed it too hard
@@brycehoward4139 Currently it has like 7000 mass or something like that and the turbo boost... its impossible to bog down. At least you should be able to pin it with Maneaters or Rot Knights etc.
A powerful mobile shooting platform shouldn't also be super fast and easy to get out of trouble. You should have to think about it's positioning and not just drive it around willy-nilly and not get punished because it has a get out of jail free card with it's speed boost and high mass.
You can't just be mindless like that with any big monsters and expect them to perform, why should the ship get such an unfair advantage in comparison? That is just bad balancing
Its a giant ship with a steam engine. having insane mass makes sense. big HP also makes sense. shooty, yup that too. the unit in itself makes sense, but you should pay for such power
@@Icewolfnector Agree completely. Any unit needs to have strengths and weaknesses... currently landship only has strengths
In a month, you'll wonder why anyone ever were worried about these boats. :)
Edit: WHAT? They cost *less* than steam tanks?
I do think that one thing that could balance them a bit would be to have the landship and thunderbarge 'afterburners' shut down their weapons while in use (everyone holding on for dear life)
I think landships should cost a bit more (maybe like 300 extra), not be able to be healed by magic (all mechanical units that should apply to) and lower the speed bonus. They are almost balanced but just not quite.
Thunder barges are just completely busted. Those need way more tuning than I think any DLC unit that has released. Thunder barge should cost way more and not be able to shoot while moving fast. It should have a CD after using it's movement like the landship too. Using a technology unlock to restore them to the original current barge would be a good way to still have it OP in the campaign too.
@Iceman96051 no. Healing works on them. Period. you don't touch that.
I do think that the speed boost should shut down shooting, or at least debuff accuracy to an insane degree. And a couple 100 price bump.
@@animewarrior3 healing does not fuckin work on dead wood
@@rubric-eo5yj it does on the crew, and bind and tighten structures with vines.
Also, worked in the tabletop
@@rubric-eo5yj counter argument, driads and treemen.
i do fully agree tho. any "vehicle" type unit should not be allowed to be healed by life magic. you could work something out where engineer units could have a repair skill or something.
the full power on the landship is just kinda stupid. i'd get it on the steam tank, but the ship shouldn't be the fastest unit on the roster
My main issue with landship speed is the base speed. 50+ speed feels ridiculous for what that is.
Isn't this expected? Power creep to sell DLC, then nerf later to restore balance to multiplayer. It's a dirty old trick.
@@MostlyUnreadArmchairExpert true, and also in case you make a mistake and overextend, you don't have to pay the consequences. Just use your get out of jail card ("full power" skill) and you're good.
@@caret_shell Anyone seriously into multiplayer has been buying every DLC for years now, so I don't buy that.
@@caret_shell This is just a natural consequence of trying to build a competitive multiplayer community around a single player focused game. CA clearly doesn't really care about multiplayer balance.
Incredibly dangerous weapon platforms like the landship and thunderbarge shouldn't be as fast as a unit of light cavalry. I feel like they wouldn't be nearly as bad if they were just a lot more static.
10:05 I don't know why but "Malagor the dark pigeon" just made me lose my shit lol.
watching those minotaurs being kicked by landship is so funny lol
This episode of 'Should have brought traitor kin' is sponsored by Marienburg
Yea.. It will only take what 8-9 traitor kins to take out the ships.. I am certain that's a valid one 🤣🤣
Obviously he didn't mean JUST use traitor kin ONLY... But it would definitely speed up their death which would be useful. Definitely more useful than flock of doom against this build.
I know right, and then you've sank all your magic potential in an unbreakable unit that you got to 70%.
@@casparvandeursen7125 Did you see the battle? It had literally 1k HP left so traitor kin would have killed it
Of course I saw it. However, at the end the game is over and the deciding value gap was achieved in the first few minutes. Traitor kin and the kill on both only starts yielding results once the ships are dead, as they cannot route and will never stop. Usually the game is over by then.
The beastmen player chose some useless stat mod spells and sank costly minos into unkillable unbreakable targets, that's for sure. Room for optimization, and traitor kin I suppose is one thing, but I don't see a world where beastmen win this.
I'm surprised that they didn't cap land ships and steam tanks at 1 per army
Also would have expected those centigor throwing axes to be way more effective against them
I used the Wonder of the Ages in campaign against clan Eshin and two units of their Night Runners absolutely melted it (campaign Eshin gets AP on their Night Runners)
The empire had the landships in tabletop for 8th edition, but we won't be seeing them in TOW unfortunately (probably) as in the lore they were invented in Karl Franz's age, and tow is set about 200-300 years prior
Beastmen: WHY DO I HEAR RULE BRITANNIA?!?
Thank you for this. So good
Don't forget the longrifle on the top of the landship too makes it even more powerful.
A fun side of the landships is how I kind of use them as anti cavalry well. They just plow through those too^^
Reminds me of Huscarl DLC day 1 in Attila. They beat all infantry easily and also mowed cav.
Are dark rider crossbows a good counter to land ships?
Who ever say they don’t play Thomas theme in there head when they see the landship is a liar.
would be fun to see a bright wizard for the burnt contact for even more leadership debuff stacking!
I feel like the steam tank and land ships need the construct tag and give the engineers a 'Restore' like ability.
Asking the beastmen to just fight where the landships are not is rather cruel, because the landships' 100-odd speed lets them go wherever the beastmen go to avoid them.
How does the land ship compare the the airship?
Why do the boat models look like a children's birthday party
Perhaps you could make it so as the ships loose health at certain intervals they loose different weapons. Start with the hand guns, then the cannon goes then maybe a speed debuff? Idk it seems silly OP they have full effectiveness until they explode.
this DLC brings more OP dumb shit units than ever... and strangely I am loving it (in the campaign only, I've tried some 1v1pvp matches against a friend with my lizardmen and it was painfully disturbing to see how I got my ass kicked every time xD)
Some factions really don't have good tools to deal with them.
I think more ranged heavy factions won't have much issues, but ones that rely on getting stuck in and with lots of slow units'll have trouble.
Glorious landships!
Wonder not allowing discourage to stack could help even things out a bit?
they are good but nowhere near thunderbarge's lvl. Btw somehow " Spear of Grungni" can deal up to 6k dmg to Land Ship (some sort of bug, heard it also affect all chariots).
How are they nowhere near the thunderbarge when they quite literally do the exact same thing in practice for a cheaper price? Yes you can attack them in melee. That's the only difference.
Agreed, barge is WAY worse
@@tomatoesofdoom I think the reason is "power of bugs"(broken hitbox and clankiness of melee attacks vs fleeing enemy in the air, like the moment Bloodthirster rise his axe thunderbarge run away leaving the deamon hitting empty space). Barge is also capable of beating 3 Land Ships (works only if your opponent is as dumb as plankton, you can find that video in youtube "Can 3 Land Ships Beat 1 Thunderbarge in Total War: Warhammer 3?"). Land Ship is a good unit, Thanderbarge is a toxic mess of a unit and I personly just want CA to fix it (still bitter after a match with a pal who always plays dwarves, yeah I was playing as Khorne).
@@UnclePunchalot I just don't understand how you can see all of that happening for the Thunderbarge and not for the Landship as well...
@@tomatoesofdoom Thunderbarge is the same as a Land Ship + "BUGS". Without bugs they'll be on the same level. And apparently piercing range single target attacks can hit Land Ship several times multiplying the damage 2-4 times (I think it has to do with a crew, game probably register their hit as a new one).
I'm hoping that units like the landship shake up the meta for factions like Beastmen and Greenskins that tend to just bring masses of chaff a bit and encourage them to bring some of their own cool monsters.
I wonder how a Norsca vs Beastmen game would go
Wait, the land ships don't even have Wounds debuffs for taking damage? da fuq
Mfw you finally have naval battles between the VC, the Empire and the Dwarves, on land.
Damn, I was actually thinking about jumping back into multiplayer. But it seems clear that the meta is still just skirmish units dominating everything else. Maybe next year things will be different.
I wonder if they're big enough for a cygor to get consistent hits on
Sigmar preserve us (some jerky)!
Now we just need a lord or hero using the boat as a mount option and blaring "Boats and Hoes" down the line. "I'm on a Boat" could also work
I think it might be too early to say that the Landship should cost more than the Steam Tank, the Steam tank is better as a chariot and has terror that's probably why it's considered tier 5 unit and the landship a tier 4 one for Singleplayer purposes (not counting the RoR that has terror).
Wìth a gane full of big monsters, dragons and giants it's kind of hilarious that the best two large units are a freagin blimp and a boat on wheels
How would a dom match set up in a seige map work out cause I think it may bring something Intresting a with the urban terrain
Move over Wulfric! The real lore of boats is here
Not really the best place to ask, but wasn’t there a tournement last night? I can’t seem to find it 😕
Before the battle even started, the landships accrued 1000+ value. Its like the opponent started the game with 1000 less gold.
Another suggestion would be to let the shooters on top attrition so that their damage output goes down as they become damaged.
My favorite unit in the game. I didnt realize the ROR unit had grenade launchers and a mortar lol. Does that mean it cant hit air units?
Those things are NASTY. No doubt they are getting a proper nerf soon. Great game by the way, it reminded me of HitmanHippo's victory on this very same map and with this comp during Clash.
Roquefort is one of my favourite cheeses. That will be all, thank you for your attention.
My favourite is mimolette
@@jacksheldon8566 I respect you.
Add a death wizard with doom and darkness for a complete Todbruckner fearbomb?
I have no idea how they thought these ships should be cheaper than steam tanks, even after the rework.
Well, what did you expect when the Navy was called?
should of included gundal defenders in reinforcements so the landships got physical resistance
Total War UA-camrs try not to call every unit "Dreaded" challenge [IMPOSSIBLE]
It started here!
If anyone plays against you with double land ship or thunderbarge friendship is over😂
Boat is stupid, without a net or frostbite it’s basically just gonna distract for years on a dragon type character or delete your army. Thing needs like 700g in crease if they aren’t gonna nerf it.
If the Thunderbarge cost 10k would it be balanced?
Beastmen probably should have just played objectives and killed the support units while ignoring the boats they can't be everywhere
So obvious they ripped the landship and the thunder barge mechanics straight out of the 40k adaption they're working on.
The ships are probably overtuned, but let the Empire have its day in the sun imo
landships could lose unbreakable trait
I'M ON A BOAT!
Iron Hands dual Land Rider
I think landships might need a nerf (not as big as the thuerbarge needs).
land ship is stupid man how are those small ass front tires not getting stuck on everything
Anyone else noticing that chariots are like 5x better than in previous patches?
Land ship should lose crew members as it loses HP to reduce it to a massive motorized battering ram late game to balance out cost
Such massive boats being faster than slanesh cav does not seem right to me.
You know if the Landship wasn't Empire Turin would ban it ;)
Its getting banned haha
Both land ships and steam tanks are taking double hits from cannons. So they’re too weak to cannons and op to everything else (for other reasons)
Your microphone is so low! I have to crank up my volume 200% to hear you when I go from other youtube videos to yours :)
New stuff OP? (except for Nurgle who got screwed over ) WOW
Why is the landship cheaper than necroflex
The Empire can now go for single entity goon squads which I find unfortunate, every factions getting their big shiny centerpiece takes a little bit of the uniqueness away imo.
They could do that all the time though with their steam tanks... It just wasn't really good.
I am disappointed I hoped Karl Franz would find a spot in the new Meta but he is being overshadowed once again
Now I’m no empire fan but hear me out, swap the pricepoints on boats and tanks.
