  • The Red Rock State Park film takes viewers through the area’s history from the Permian period through the emergence of its impressive red rock features. It discusses the park’s inhabitants and the preservation of the riparian habitat of Oak Creek.
The Red Rock State Park documentary is a project produced by the Benefactors of Red Rock State Park (benefactorsrrsp.org/) and narrated by Babbitt. During his time as governor from 1978 to 1987, Babbitt was instrumental in establishing the 286-acre nature preserve and environmental education center on the outskirts of Sedona.
Park facilities include a visitors center, classroom, theater, gift shop, picnic tables, 10 developed trails, restrooms, and a group area with Ramada and facilities. Trails throughout the park wind through manzanita and juniper to reach the rich banks of Oak Creek. Green meadows are framed by native vegetation and hills of red rock. The creek meanders through the park, creating a diverse riparian habitat abounding with plants and wildlife. This riparian habitat provides the setting and the opportunity for the park to offer a focus on environmental education.
Red Rock offers a variety of special programs for school groups and private groups. There are a number of daily and weekly park events. (benefactorsrrsp.org/park-even...)
The Benefactors of Red Rock State Park's goal is to support, promote and enhance Red Rock State Park’s mission of riparian habitat preservation, environmental education, and natural recreation.
