In my Opinion, one of the most enjoyable things in Destiny 2 were the old Exotic Weapon Quests. Not only the Secret Missions but also Stuff like the Last Word and Ace of Spades Quest.
Going through these actually basic Queststeps with one larger Special Mission at the end was some of the most fun I had. Almost every single one is gone now. I think only Chaperone remains

In my opinion one way to fix strikes is to make them like the Crime spree mode from Payday 2. You run strikes flawlessly and gradually increase rewards the further your spree goes. Then after every strike is successfully run you chose either 1 of 3 modifiers (some bad some good like in Payday 2 it was “shields deflect bullets back at the player” maybe in D2 you have “Elemental shield break leaves a pool of that damage type”). Its a change that really revived heisting in Payday and it could def work with strikes

something i loved about the beginning of destiny 2 were the adventures that you could do on all the planets, it really helped root me into the whole universe with smaller stories of less important people, it just made the whole thing feel a lot more real, that and those scannables that were all over where the ghost would tell you something interesting but now there arent any adventures around and most of the scannables dont even tell you anything anymore, its really disappointing because honestly little things like that can really make players care about the civilians of the universe by having us be out in the wilds rather than just up in our ivory tower.

I have played Destiny since D1 beta. I've taken a few breaks for the sake of my own mental health and not wanting to let myself get to a point of hating my favorite game. That being said - even when I play Destiny consistently, I enjoy watching people play other games. Even other Destiny content creators. The players take breaks. Streamers should also be able to take breaks. Whether that's just to try another game on or off stream, or a month off to see how you feel afterwards. We are here for you just as much as we are here for Destiny.

The thing is, how about the PVP streamers that do carries or just play because they love to be competitive? People watch them specifically for D2 PVP. If they decided to play something else, a lot of their viewers would disperse. Not everyone has the option to take breaks. Which is why you hear the most complaints from PVP players as well cause they know there's a lot to be fixed and they built their streaming platform off of PVP.

    Hey, bud.
If youre interested in what a new players experience is. I am about 4 months into being a guardian. And I have considered cancelling my lightfall preorder.
I have put 1,100 hours into this game since i got it in August. It fastly became my most favorite game, but the lack of care, and attention by bungie drives me insane. It hurts my heart because i hear about the masterpiece this game USED to be. I hold hope that this season, and lightfall rejuvenates the game and brings it to a place where I can make the memories with this game that you all have in past seasons that changed your lives.
I've ultimately decided to give them one final shot with lightfall before calling it quits, because this game scratches an itch that i never knew i had. i just wish there was more content, and it wasnt stale. I dont know how many times i can do the same strikes, the same pvp maps, or the same gambit match i play over and over again.
bungie really needs to get it together. However, you my friend have earned a new subscriber.

And also I just want to say that they should have made a D3 because then they wouldn't have had to worry about flooding the game with too much content and we would keep all the old stuff before beyond light, we could have just gotten a third game and they could've had the witch queen as it's starting poit or something a little different to make it fit and I guarantee destiny would not be in the state that it's in now

I started playing the destiny franchise when i was 11 and now im 20 and i still love the game but some of the changes and lack of fixes make it really hard to justify playing, for me destiny is so much more than just a game its where i met some of my best friends, where ive had some of my best moments, and where ive grown in skill as a player. So its hard to let it go but you made so many valid points like we all want to see the game succeed but it feels like after witch queen launch which was so promising for the game it all went downhill. In my opinion for the game to succeed it need to get new crucible maps, more strikes and long term item grinds. What i mean by that is like with luna’s howl and not forgotten, could u imagine how much people would stick around if they had weapons u could earn from playing gambit, strikes, and competitive. Destiny needs more stuff to grind for over a season without making overly complicated and difficult (for casuals). If i were to say one thing about new lights is they need help on how to get weapons and do quests, thats why they dont stay so why not invest in a system that gives the player more aide when they first start.

The biggest issue I think Destiny itself has, is they try to fit their seasonal model too well.
As a result, the 3 core activities have been neglected to hell and back, every major seasonal event feels like an afterthought meant to sell cosmetics, and a lot of the charm we had from Forsaken-Era (Primarily involving the secrets on the Dreaming City, the Exotic Quests, etc.) just feels missing. A lot of the special things we saw towards the end of Rise of Iron and Forsaken aren't there anymore, and it's starting to wear the game itself down.
Witch Queen was good, but immediately after that we went back to this same seasonal loop we've been on since 2019. No real secrets to uncover in the throne world, just the main story, a bit of extra content for an exotic, and back to business-as-usual.
When your core content, the content that F2P players can play, feels like it hasn't changed since Forsaken, then there's gonna be no player retention. Strikes have never gotten revitalizing, PVP gets abandoned for long stretches of time, and Gambit has only gotten worse with most revisions. And to top it all off, we've LOST content from the core-modes because of the DCV.
I'm 100% for the opportunity for Bungie to give us a "Season of Health" or something where they do nothing but focus on fixing up the core modes. Giving them better rewards, reworking aspects of them, etc. The game is in desperate need of a fix for those modes, or the game is going to continue to be this cycle of, "Seasonal Activity + Core Modes" with a 1 month break every major expansion.

Things That Will save Destiny (prepare its gonna be long):
    1. Dedicated Servers and Improved Netcode.
    2. Clan Wars - PvP / Gambit between clans, leaderboards, best clans events.
    3. Proper In game LFG system, player stats viewer & inventory management system...
    4. PvP Competitive leaderboard, tournaments.
    5. Real Exotic quest lines, More dungeons, raids, secret missions.
    6. bring back lost campaigns with Legendary mode and cosmetic / exotic rewards - Use one of them as a proper introduction to the game.
    7. Fix Gambit - Remove Invading, add a competitive ranked leaderboard with Increased Difficulty at higher ranks.
    8. Proper vehicle related usage & activities - ship battles, sparrow racing, sparrows with guns?!
    9. Public chat in PVP & voice chat for comp / cw
    10. Ditch the braindead seasonal fake hoard mode activities and kindergarden level story telling to focus on the above.
    11. Remove bounties from vendors, put it permanently as a part of the UI somewhere so you don't need to pick it up every time
    12. Give the vendors some of their own quest lines, is that's an opportunity to finally add some dialoge options?
    13. Remove light levels, its so tiring and depressing to level up each season just to unlock THE SAME activities + Its confusing as hell to new players...
Solution: reset power to 0 for all guardians, 0-50 easy rank up, 50-80 hard rank ups, 80-99 very hard rank ups. Rank ups are tied to activities completions and NOT random pinnacle drops. once per year reset everyone who is over 80 back to 80, - no more light level confusion and weirdness to everyone involved.
Things that ruin PVP : Invis Hunters, Shield Bashing Titans, Shot through barricades, Instant healing, Overshields, Blinding Effects, Movement Slowing Effects, Grenade Launchers, Sidearm, SMGs, Pulse rifles meta, Slow swapping / ADS, Flinch, ridiculous aim assist on Controllers, Bad maps, The fact that only team shooting is a viable option, Melee teleportation, Lack of Competitive Leaderboards & Tournaments, Insanely Bad Team Balancing & Horrid Connections.
    Things that will kill Destiny:
    1. Lack of Innovation and creativity
    2. Neglecting PVP
    3. Reducing skill gap by nerfing anything that requires skill while supplying players with broken abilities, weapons, ridiculous aim assist.
    3. Changing the meta every month to pretend that the game is alive and fun instead of actual new missions and proper events that respect player time.
    4. the 5248th forgettable & boring "go there fight 3 waves, get stalled, throw a ball somewhere, fight some miniboss that you could melt in 2 sec who has an annoying anti damage shield untill you kill some champion somewhere or dunk another ball.
    6. 7000 little balance patches & changes to perks every week.

The cycle needs to be broken somehow, so its not us playing hard during the start of the season, a little bit halfway through, and then die off at the end just to come back later. Same for expansions, a load of people play at the start, they play the first season, and then start to disappear. @@DarkChibiWeebie normally I would agree but I’m also the type of person to have all of the primes and every tenet and lich weapon at 60% status. Also railjack maxed. Not so much 24/7 but I have played every part of the game at least a few times.

There is no lack of what? Warframe can be done in under than ~1000 of ingame “time spent” counter if you are good at trading. By “done” I mean getting the 30-ish ranks, having everything you need, max rank syndicates, completion of all quests available etc. Endgame in Warframe is like fashionframe and farming plat. Warframe content-wise is timegated and is focused on “farm this to level this so you can get higher rank”. And new content is dropping with the same frequency as it does in Destiny if not less often. And what do you get? 5 hours tops quest with plotholes, new guns and a frame to grind which you will forget about in like a day after having some fun with them and returning to meta afterwards.
Yeah I get it it’s “FREE AND WHAT DO YOU WANT”, but keeping in mind that monetisation became more aggressive (prime resurrections, market price crashes, “we will not make quest frames prime uh huh no 🧢” etc.), DE getting acquired by some Chinese lads and having financing, that’s not a thing to point at.
As a veteran of both Destiny and Warframe I can objectively say that mid and late-season frustration that Destiny delivers is nowhere near the frustration that Warframe delivers with constant delays, missed opportunities, false promises, expectation exaggeration etc. Not even speaking about the fact that “new content” that is often delivered in updates can be done in under a week of focused grinding, so you get your frustration and content drought days after an update. Almost every season in Destiny however keeps you invested at least for a month if not even more. I, personally, had a lot of things to do this season until ~mid to end of October. And I was grinding really hard.

I played Destiny 2 when it came out, quit on Curse Of Osiris and came back when the Witch Queen came out. I play RPGs often and played the heck out of Destiny 2 till Osiris, but even I found it extremely overwhelm by the amount of things I had to learn and things I had to look up online to catch up with the game. I assume an average gamer who just wanna give the game a try usually wouldn’t do that. They just quit.

Worth giving Final Fantasy 14 a try as an option for variety stuff. It’s a slow burner so you can go through at your own pace for free for the first 2 expansions. You can drop in and out anytime you want, and with friends/a helpful community it’s even better. I like watching new peeps run through the story and raid content personally. And if ya don’t end up liking it, it comes at no cost 10, 50, 100 hours in.

Lightfall will be nothing but a good campaign and a raid again. No crucible maps like 1-2 strikes a few exotics and that’s it. People say WQ was the greatest expansion ever but it wasn’t. The only good thing about was the campaign and vow.

Getting to the point that you can comfortably do variety is one of the best things you can do for yourself. Your edits and humor is good enough to carry you dude, you'll make it just fine.
For other games I enjoy watching, I watch Hunt: Showdown, friend groups playing party games such as Jack in the Box, I still watch League of Legends stuff from time to time, Elden Ring videos (PvP mostly), along with a variety of RL stuff ranging from mountain bikes to pet grooming lol.

I've never seen this many people quit Destiny before. I've always monitored it. Even some of my die hard friends quit and said it's just too dated. The engine is old, taking away paid content, and that there just isn't a way to recapture that for them.

Never thought I'd see the day when even the big creators are saying they miss Activision and the game was better under their leadership. I knew it wasn't gonna turn out well when it was announced because I knew the value and quality of work Vicarious Visions and to a lesser extent High Noon brought to the game and I knew Bungie couldn't keep up the same quality and amount of content without their help. Also I knew Activision was making them get content out on time and made sure it was up to standards as well, so without anybody overseeing them they could take much longer to do less.

I know it’s probably not the best example, However, fallout 76 is doing a good job of retaining there player base through daily missions, and events. I mean fuck destiny fans are so loyal if they just made our guns slightly scuff over time people would try to have the most scratched up “used” weapons. It’s really disappointing to see bungie starting to look at us as just income instead of players. It really feels like they only put out the bare minimum to cash a paycheck.

  • @falrexion7709
    @falrexion7709 Рік тому +1

It really feels like destiny originally tried to cater to the "hardcore" part of its playerbase when there was never going to be a way to meet expectations (not endgame players but specifically people putting in huge numbers of hours) and has left them in the dust in favour of casuals who pay the same price and are happy with a few weeks of content spread out over the year for 100 bucks.
That was fine when was just focused on being a looter shooter as you have infinite replayability in the slot machines that are 5 random rolled perk weapons that you want God rolls of eventually. This even covers content droughts to an extent, as the hardcore people may want a 5/5 god roll badly enough to keep playing, but it also allowed casuals to get the two or three perks they wanted and drop out without sweating for God rolls.
The transition to focusing more on destiny as an MMO has been painful. MMOs are meant to have incredibly grindy aspects to keep players playing, but also ways for those people to be rewarded for sharing the spoils of the time spent with the community through auction houses, gear swapping, and earnable cosmetics.
Destiny has the grind, but less loot incentive than before, and none of the systems in place to make chasing more than one god roll worth while. Imagine selling all your god roll seasonal weapons to other players for crafting materials if you were just looking for red borders, or auctioning your second 5/5 god roll the week season dropped for huge amounts of currency. It means casual players can engage by farming crafting mats or getting random rolls, but certain systems are intended for hardcore grinders. It does not help that currently almost all currencies are worthless with huge disparities between new and old players on stuff like legendary shards which are directly proportional to how much you've played and not what you've played. Mats like ascendent shards that new players would love to buy currently are stuck in the inventories of players who have more than they know what to do with.
I'd also love if we could swap fireteams loot in raids and dungeons. If I get the god roll my clanmate is looking for, why can I not swap him the gun before we even exit the instance. Lock it after that so you can't just have people buy endgame loot, but let people decide what they want on their way in and ask for specific drops as you go. Sure it might create some tension in LFGs, but it works fine in other games where you can just decline trades and move on.

They killed their lore. They killed the secret missions. The killed the vast majority of exotic quests. Half the locations are gone. Half the raids. They sunset gear and then brought back some of them.
This is now a game I play when I'm bored. Just need two months to catch up on two years worth of content.

Bungie has to turn up drop rate on exotics from raids, add matchmaking for raids, and make the raids able to be completed without having to study UA-cam videos. There you go, done. Until they do that they will not retain players. It's the same thing over and over and over. Same activities same shortcomings every season.

I think if bungie decides to release a whole season based souly on fixing the general health of the game, give them 4 months without needing to work on anything but reinvigorating the core playlists, fixing up the strikes, making better play lists for crucible, completely reworking gambit and remaking a lot of the loot pools by re adding the ability to gain access to long forgotten armour ornaments to help diversify the lot pools as well as adding serval more activities and things for the player base to work towards, maybe separating strikes from the actual world maps to give bungie the ability to edit, change and work on pre-existing strikes.
