I listened to JB&B every morning on my way to school as a kid, and Mr. Raiford was one of my favorite parts of the morning ride everyday. Thank you sir for all the laughs and entertainment. RIP
I know I'm a little late to the party but thank you for posting this. A very Nice tribute to 1 of the greatest commentators to ever grace a radio station. Thank you so much sir for your words and memories. R. I. P. To you, Robert D. Raiford.
I was scanning the past JB&B shows. I found this about Robert D. He was a rare Jewel . I never met Robert D. I am sure he is missed by many . Such a beautiful song . Happy New Year 2023. 😊🎉
I’m from Kannapolis NC and had the opportunity to meet Raiford. I was flying model airplanes on the late Farrel James’s airfield in Enochville area and while flying I heard what sounded like a Harley cruising up middle of runway. Look over & it was a tall slim man getting off white road king Harley removing his helmet. It was Raiford! We had a long talk just in general about airplanes. Such a great man to talk with. Turns out that him & Farrel James Sr were great friends! Certainly missed!
loved Raif....thanks for the many years ts of laughter! I've listened to the Big Show for roughly 20 to years via 103.5 out of Knoxville, TN. RIP old friend
An awesome video for an awesome man. I know now, more than ever before, it will be hard on everyone who knew Mr. Raiford across all spectrums. I so miss him starting the show off, and ending it. Listening to Mr. Raiford was like listening to Paul Harvey. He was so Captivating. Thank you Mr. Raiford for letting countless Generations get to know you. RIP. May God be with you all in the days ahead.
He was born the same day and year as my dad. He passed two months before my dad. I miss both of them. My dad made my life bright. Robert D. Raford made my mornings bright on the John boy and Billy show.
I used to love listening to Mr. Raiford's commentaries. I especially liked his "Armageddon" and the "One Way Ticket" spoofs! :) Rest in peace, Mr. Raiford. You will be missed!

Raiford always had me in stitches .. Robert from Virginia 6/17/2021
I was looking around for some of your albums online today and came across this. I had no idea he'd passed away recently. I have great childhood memories of listening to JB&B albums on family road trips. Thanks for all the good times bud, may you rest in peace.
I'm proud to say I have a personal letter from Mr. Raiford returning my camera I sent to him for him to take some pictures of his ride in a vintage B-25 bomber. I really miss the Johnboy and Billy show. They kept me laughing for ten plus years when I lived in Florida. Rest in peace Mr. Raiford blue skies.
Thanks Raif - I was working in Gastonia the first three years you guys were all together at WRFX - made every morning commute a joy. To the best of times.
I loved listening to John boy and Billy. Robert D Rayford was the best. I've run trucks all over the south. Since 96. 2013 started running local in Cincinnati. Robert D will be missed.
Can't believe I'm just now hearing about this. RIP and Godspeed to a legend. Thoughts and Prayers are with Raiford's family and loved ones. #Gonebutnotforgotten
I still listen to JB&B every day. Today y'all had a Robert D. Raiford segment about how "frugal" he was. I miss Mr. Raiford every day. "Hey big man, lemma hold a dollar".
He was a nice man. Had the pleasure of meeting and talking to him a few years back. Loved and looked forward to his spot on the John Boy and Billy show.
I am sure that I am not the only that has fond memories of listening to John Boy and Billy on the way to high school as a kid. That was back in the early 2000's. I also remember in the summer time getting up early just to listen to the show and then go back to bed. I miss those days. So much simpler times compared to today. Anybody else use to tape the shows as well on Cassette tape?
I cannot remembering not hearing Bob Raiford's voice, whether I liked what he said or didn't...I believed he was "probably" right. Loved this man & will miss him.
Mr. Raiford, I never knew you, but heard you more than once when listening to the show. Living out here in the wilds of south central Kentucky we never got to listen to much radio so playing catch up on youtube nowadays. Just listened to your fruitcake recipe today 2 or 3 times. Shared it with a few friends. May God take you in and make you one of the top radio comedians in Heaven. Rest in peace Mr. Raiford and God Bless you for now and ever!
Seeing the TV segment on him showing off him flying his Piper J3 Cub was a joy for me as well as his many "along the way reports" on the many Kyle Petty Ride Across America rides he participated in. Damn sure one of a kind that will be sorely missed !
I was in radio for a few years and my station was a John Boy and Billy affiliate; Robert D Raiford came over from Charlotte about a half dozen times for radio events and remotes and he was a delightful man to deal with. Sort of a grandfatherly type fellow. I wish John Boy and Billy would continue to play one of his segments once a day as a tribute. RIP Raif Daddy.

Really hate to hear this. Tuned in recently for the first time in a while and wondered how/where he was. Lived in the Charlotte area when JB&B got started and loved listening to the sanity...and occasional INsanity of Raif when he joined on. He had "The Bitch Line" for years...vm's of people bitching about anything; but he reveled in the ones about him! Surly ill-mannered old curmudgeon...what a role model! He had a very distinctive voice. I'd never seen him, had no idea what he looked like until I was in the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Kuwait City, Kuwait in Sept. 1998...a movie was on TV but I was paying it no attention until I heard that very distinctive voice! Robert D, playing a judge dressing down an attorney. Cracked me up that I had to go all the way to Kuwait to see what he looked like!RIP Robert D...you had a helluva impact on a helluva lot of people!
I remember when he read the news clipping about i believe it was call feltching. Where the one guy put a hamster in another dudes brown eye and lit a match to find it. The methane built up in the one guys insides and the hamster was blown across the room. Raiford couldn't even finish reading it, it was so stoopid and funny.
He brought smiles and laughter to my life when I was in a very hard place. ❤
