These are the best songs for an amature guitarist like myself, easyish with a very recognizable chord progression, and everyone knows the words, so I don't have to sing. I've learned a lot of them like that from you.
You wrote this comment 6 years ago. How has life changed for you since then, Martin? Are you still strumming guitar? Any progress? Any major changes in your life since then?
@@karendalsadik7119 @Lorenz A When justin sings, he always change the word of the song into chords (C here as an example) so it's easier for Us begginers to know wich chords he uses
Justin your G chord is sadomasochistic LOL but I watched Neil Young and that is how he forms the chord. Im getting it but after playing the G with 1,2 and 3 finger for so long its a stretch. Love your instruction. Once I get through the second module I will likely become a paying student. I am one of those guys who have had a guitar for over 40 years but it spent too much time leaning against the couch. Been back at it for three or four months. Been using your course for a couple months, switched over from the Fender course which is not a bad program but yours is just better. I love that I can learn so much online now at my pace without a wunderkind instructor glaring at me because I did not get something the first 30 or 40 times I tried LOL. Big thanks! 😎
Awesome job with the harmonica Justin!!!!!!!! deadly!!!!!!!!!! I love your teachings! You keep things light and you have just enough PRO stuff to offset the other....awesome job!
Been playing Neil young songs since I was 16 in 1970. Happy to see you sharing these old classics. If you play Neil young or Bob Dylan or just play Acoustic guitar , learning the harmonica is a must.
I just started a few weeks ago, found many lessons on you tube but yours Justin are the best.Very clearly explained and very professional. And I love the tips and tricks. Please go on!
My finances aren't great but I had to donate again after this lesson. Being able to play this gives me more pleasure than anything else I could have done with the same money. Keep well. Neil Young Tragic
Dude, you know just how to make a good guitar-lesson video. Everyone else, it seems, starts off with a long-winded introduction; tells what they're going to do and end up taking so much time before they finally get started. Usually I fast forward the needless rhetoric right to the actual lesson. Then, afterward, if I feel I need to hear instructions, I simply go to the beginning. Just now, I wanted to learn this song and I skipped every video starting off with talking. But, you did it perfectly! Thank you. Now, I can listen to you with an open ear. Hopefully, all of your videos are done in this fashion. Maybe everyone else will catch-on... For now, yours are the videos I will seek. Thanks again and keep up the good work!
I've seen a lot of your vids but I've got to say, your voice and playing on this particular video is amazing. I often come back to this vid just to hear you perform it at the start. How do you even get that tone on your harmonica? I can't do it on mine :/ Good work as always Justin!
Justin, can you go over what you are doing when the harp plays at the very beginning, but what the guitar is doing...we play the Em & D twice, then the harp comes in, are we playing the same chord progression while the harp is played before we get to the verse?
Wow I never knew you played harmonica as well. Man you are talented. You are the only teacher on UA-cam that I buy their products. I have your beginners book. And have purchased your note trainer and metronome apps. I love the note trainer. Could you please post a lesson how to use your metronome. It has some confusing features. Well to me. I like that you post your videos on yt without hooks to get money. Karma is how you make money. People like you and your teaching style. And consequently buy freely your products. The world needs more people like you. Cheers Justin from NZ
I have 5 of your songbooks Justin, and I am constantly searching through the contents lists to see if a specific song is in them, or find a song I know is in them somewhere. What would really help if you added to your website a list of all the songs in the books and which book they are in
If you click on the individual books here www.justinguitar.com/products?type=books you see a list of contents. I don't think that the filters on the Songs page allows a search by book. I will make it a suggestion to Justin. Cheers :) | close 2u | JustinGuitar Official Guide [ www.justinguitar.com/ ] & Moderator on JustinGuitar Forum [ justinguitarcommunity.com/index.php ]
justin you are trully a Jewell. my favorite songs are 90% of the songs you are teaching Glad you are here and Glad UA-cam has evolved to this great multimedia tool that it is. Learning my youth songs with new brain plasticity. Thank you so much Justin. Keep it up and please keep it free
Great lesson Justin keep calling out those cords it makes it easier to play for those who are just learning and me as well I have been playing for a year I learned in six months it's awesome practice every day and you get better
Justin ~ I cannot say enough good things about your lessons. There are so many pros and amateurs doing this but you are the best at breaking things down and sim- plifying them. As a teacher myself, I appreciate your approach and that you always emphasize the feel and rhythm of music. It is the most important thing in playing and learning HOW to play. Knowing what to play is one thing, but that has to be coupled with knowing how to play it. This is the best tutorial on Heart Of Gold I have seen. I have been a pro for over 50 years and I'm still learning stuff, too. It's one of the greatest things about a journey in music - there's always something new to learn. Thank you!
As always Justin, a great tutorial. You have inspired me to get my old guitar out of the cupboard, dust it down, restring it & get playing again. Thank you !
Great job! I remember this song back in 72-73ish. I would turn the radio up as loud as my mom would let me. I live in Toronto and Neil has played here many times. One time in the 70's I saw him do a 3 hr. show at Maple Leaf Gardens which was all acoustic then he brought out some others at the end to finish off. He did that before anyone did all acoustic shows. One of my all time fav's that I've seen many times. Thanx for your vid and keep up the great work.
Your the best teacher anyone can have justin, I always enjoy your lessons mate, I'm finding some things on my own but your the bridge between me and half a song , thanks again and you must live a good life with all the good karma your getting for helping others so selflessly
I am trying to learn this atm, however I find it much easier to use fingers 1, 2 and 3 for the Em7 in the intro, as I can then use the third finger as an anchor for easily picking the D chord.
You have the best tutorial video for this song on the net by far. I have watched this at least 30 times and learned it note for note with perfect timing. My harmonica and holder is in the mail from Musician's Friend as I type this. I wouldn't have learned this song without you man, you really do it justice. All other tutorials were lacking and I couldn't tell exactly what it was until I saw this.
It certainly helps when the (talented) tutor is also a Neil Young fan! Justin is great all round but if you like Neil Young, this is the place to learn his tunes.
This is a great tutorial, and you are a great person, justin. You have helped a lot of people around the world, asking nothing in return. Thank you. If I ever make it back to London I am gonna look you up and buy you a pint. Or if you ever get out to Southern California, shoot me a message and you can collect that way too.
Thanks man. I just saw Neil in concert in Telluride Colorado (Oct. 1). This was his second song. He's 70 years old, but performed beutifully. It was a great experience and I've been fumbling around on the guitar with this song now for two weeks. Your instruction really helped.
Picked up my guitar again after not playing for 15 years. Love Neil Young. Found your lessons on here and they are great. Found the passion again for playing. Learned this one and a few others from you so far. This is one of my favorites. Thanks for all you do on here. You seem very personable and that shows through in your lessons. Keep on doing what you do. Peace.
I love this song and I love your tutorials! I started playing two months ago and I'm doing great thanks to all your lessons!! Keep doing what you do! You're the best in your field, undoubtedly.
Great lesson. Easy to follow. Good camera angles. I like you singing out the cord changes. The harmonica part is on UA-cam, it is fairly simple. Apart from some hitting of two notes at the same time. Learning Harp, I have spent a lot of time avoiding this :) Thank you, Justin

My son who was 11 at the time, played this on my white Strat at a school talent contest.... and won, one of the proudest days of my life 😊
You do Neil Young songs very well vocally, and this video sounds great. Thanks for another awesome tutorial, and all that you do Justin.

Another great lesson. I love how you always offer little tips and tricks you simply wouldn’t get reading normal tabs. Very useful for a beginner.
