    Just watched your great belt change tutorial! As a Golf 1.4 TSI owner and my son driving a Seat Leon 1.4 TSI, this video came at the perfect time. Can't wait to tackle this job and save some serious cash! Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

    Great video! I’m gonna use this video to get me started on doing a head gasket job on a friend’s 1.4 TSI in his Jetta. Same as the other commenter, I’m in the states, so I have a little more room.

    Very good video the engine is identical to the one on my mk6 Jetta with very few differences, it seems like The Jetta has a little more space tan the Golf. My car is a left hand drive so the master cylinder is located next to the battery, Not a as difficult a job as it looks. Cheers from The United States of America

    Great video! What is BTW the easiest way to inspect the timing belt? Removing the top cover or from the bottom?

    Disconnect the negative pole on the battery first. This avoids shocks from sweaty arms touching the chassis or your racket from welding itself to the chassis and setting fire to your car.

      I used old one, just wrapped around tape on broken section and it was good to go! But yeah if you order new from VW than you gonna get better quality than it came out from factory!

    One question, how do you stop the crank from turning when you need to loosen or tighten the crank pully bolt?

    • @EverydayValuedMechanic
      @EverydayValuedMechanic  2 місяці тому

      Hi, there is blank bolt on left side of the crankshaft pulley that is facing driveshaft, but it will only stop crankshaft turning clockwise so you can torque crankshaft bolt after installing new belt, regarding loosening bolt you can use power tools. Torque spec for crankshaft bolt is 150nm + 180*

    Thank you. What is timing belt change interval for this engine? Is it exactly same procedure for 3 cylinder 1.0 tsi engine?

    • @EverydayValuedMechanic
      @EverydayValuedMechanic  2 місяці тому

      Hi, from factory they come with longlife belts that could potencially last up to 200k miles or 180 months (15 years) but I always recommend to change them max every 80k miles, yes 1.0tsi is same procedure(could be some slight difference)
