Not everyone practises stoicism. No matter who you are and what philosophy you practise, if someone close to you dies it will weight you down. As you said, "Enjoy the company while you can. Appreciate the memories when they're gone." but you can't prepare for someone dying. Especially if your own world perspective doesnt include death, since you are immortal. Its really hard to move on from people who are dead even if you do follow the teachings of stoicism. Take it from a person who has experienced this first hand. "If you can accept death once. You can accept death a thousand times over." This is not true, it's hard to "accept" someone's death, especially if that person was close to you. This specific manga really does show what an immortal being would feel like after losing someone for the first time.
@@PxlDev Yes, this comic addresses an immortal's first brush with loss. But I'm talking in the general trope, as OP has referenced. I'm not saying death is easy. So with that in mind, "being immortal sucks because you watch your loved ones die" strikes me as mortal-centrism. We're just rationalising our weaknesses. Plus, everyone is already likely to outlive their parents. Mortals already outlive some of their loved ones. There's no reason the challenge can't be overcome. You know, there are many stories about how immortality backfires on characters and it often carries the message that death makes life more precious. Not in this case, it seems like. I like to think that this story shows that immortality doesn't mean much if those close to you aren't also immortal.
The Clock Man asked the little boy “What would you give for another day in your life?” The boy replied:” not one cent, for my days are full of smiles” The Clock-Keeper asked the grown man “What would you give for another day?” The man replied: “perhaps a dollar or two, for I still have much to live for.” The Clock-Keeper asked the little boy, now quite old and came time to die “What would you give for another day?” The old man replied: “All the stars in the sky and all the pearls in the sea” -“The Clock Man”, by Shel Silverstein

Damn. That hits HARD. I was literally in tears 😢
Sadness is a reflection of how much one cared
I just woke up, guess I'm gonna cry myself to sleep. Thanks😢
that is such good voice acting, I'm seriously surprised
And this is why I never consider wanting immortality.
This is sadder then things I've seen that are supposed to make you sad...great job
Yeah, this is a lesson of "Immortality may seem good, but it's actually bad"
This can be used to represent what occurs when someone get a pet. Never li e to regret not spending time with them
This is a good story
Noooooo the Angel Beats song at the end always makes me cry!
Why did you make me have these feels upon waking up?😢😭
Omg I’ve loved this manga ever since it was first scanlated. The voice acting is so amazingly well done!! 🎉❤
We love that kind of support, I personally think we could have done the voice acting better but this was our first project.
Beautiful
Extremely emotional, well done! Thanks for this. Oh, and headcanon time! She saved him, she forgot her local fountain doubled as a fountain of youth.
I can’t quote this speech word for word but it captures very well how much of a curse immortality really is, it is Spawn’s speech on immortality from the Spawn animated series.
Quick question; would you still love someone if you're immortal? Just curious what other people think
Oh my gawd I didn't expect to cry
Finally!! Someone is taking about "instant regret"
sometimes it's horrible that I can feel the feelings of others, even if it's just a draw I can feel everything and hurts me
Clicked on a whim, but now I need more, this is seriously good stuff.
