I think the worst part about this is that saying what he said IRL can never be as meaningful as getting your mind read while thinking of it. When said aloud it can come off less meaningful, ingratiating, over-the-top, or even be read as attempting to butter them up, a kiss ass. It would only work so often, if at all. However getting your mind read by your SO will make it meaningful every single time.
