Thanks Robin for taking us along for another interesting and inspiring year. Our best wishes and prayers are with you going forward, hope you have a lovely Christmas and an awesome new year!
Lovely images and unique perspective Robin. Thanks for sharing and it's nice to see some very unique and interesting lenses for Micro Four Thirds like circular Fisheye. Hopefully we can get more unique lenses like Tilt Shift .
I have the Meike 3.5mm version. It’s a fun lens as you’ve described. My personal favorite is creating snow globes from winter scenes. One trick to try with an Olympus paired with this lens to shoot jpg + raw. Set the camera to exteleconverter zoom on. This gives you a jpg at 14mm equivalent and raw at 7mm equivalent.
@@MikeC2K10 That should work well. If it is your only prime with no electronics, your camera should remember the setting. I have a 7mm fish-eye that works well.
That was really interesting Robin. I have a Sony FF 12-24 that, due to its difficulty and my lack of skill development, rarely gets used. Thank you for the inspiration; now I have something to shoot for.
It is fun to walk along with you when you are exploring new gear/techniques/places. Especially when you discuss specific challenges/surprises you encounter, what you discovered did not work & finally describing how you solved the challenge. I aspire to take make nice photos too. Learning about how photographers I respect think & how they solve problems is helpful and inspiring. Unfortunately for content creators videos like that don’t generate as many views & likes. Thank you again for another great year. I’m looking forward to spending time with you again in 2025. 🎉
Thank you for the tip about setting focal length for IS! I've been using 60s and 70s vintage lenses and wondered why the IS was unpredictable at times. Now that I know this I'll get better results with my E-M5 II.
Hi Robin that has made my Christmas I’m glad you’re having as much fun as I am with the lens. Love the scooter photo I would never have thought of that. Have a great Christmas.
Hi Robin, you did well with the photos by not getting your feet and hands in frame. I bought one a year ago and had a lot of fun taking time lapse and live comp of the clouds and astro. It is always in my camera bag to get the fun in taking photos. Merry Xmas and hope you have a great New Year.📸 🎆
I did get my fingers, cap and feet into the frame wayyyy too often! Not easy dealing with such a wide lens. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you too
Thanks Robin, fish-eye lenses are fun!! But I prefer the rectangular view of fish-eye lenses so this one is a no go for me. But nevertheless thanks for the nice and inspiring videos this year! Wish you Happy Holidays and a great, healthy New (photo)Year 🎄✨🎄💫🎄✨🎄
It looks like a fun challenge. With it being winter here, we have some interesting, spooky looking trees with no leaves on them right now. I suddenly want to try fisheye. Thanks for sharing, Robin!
Is there anything that can be done about that blue ring toward the exterior of the photograph? It almost reminds me of chromatic aberration and is somewhat distracting to the composition.
I have the Laowa 4-mm f/2.8 circular fisheye. I use it mostly for all-sky star trails, but sometimes for daytime shots. However, the image circle is slightly taller than the MFT frame, so I have to crop to a small circle. It takes a little more work, but it also gets rid of the chromatic aberrations around the circumference. So, does the 7 Artisans image circle fit the MFT frame or is also tall like the Lawoa?
Does anyone know a good camera bag for Olympus Pen-F & 3 small lenses. All the bags I’ve used have been too big for for the lenses and the best thing I’ve found has been a generic bag insert for my back pack but if I’m using the bag for other things it makes swapping out batteries or lenses inconvenient so a dedicated camera bag would be preferred.
Billingham HADLEY DIGITAL CAMERA BAG. My bag holds a OM-D E-M10II with grip, 14-42mm f3.5-5.6 IIR, 40-150mm f4-5.6R, with lens shades, 30mm f3.5 macro and 2 spare batteries plus a 12 inch EZ balance WB popup reflector in the front pocket. This bag is extremely well-built.
I had a similar Lens, the Meike 6,5 Fish. Many fun a few weeks, than i sold it. The round Pictures are not mine. Every second Picture with feet or Fingers. And every light from a Mirror, the Sun, or other causes heavy Lens Flares.
Since the advent of 360 Camera the application range of such lenses has become close to zero, as the effect fisheye pics gets boring quite fast (back in the old days I was owning quite a few Fish Eyes/stitching together Panorama images manually 😂)

It was definitely something refreshing and new to me, and quite fun too! Yes we need more out of the box lenses for Micro Four Thirds.

Always good to come back and watch your videos Robin.
I hope you have a great Christmas and I look forward to seeing your work in 2025.
At long last, we can see what the offspring of a cat and a hamster would look like. Looks like a really fun lens to play with. Thanks, Robin.
Something fishy in this video😀I'm not a big fan of circular fish eye lenses but you got some nice shots. Familiar looking locations.
I did not know about the manual focal length setting for IS. Thanks!
That only applies to Manual lenses that have no electronic communication with the camera!
@@robinwong I understood, thanks!
For a 4mm lens I wouldn't bother with stabilisation.
@@davestokes3446 I have the TTartisan 500mm f/6.3 manual focus telephoto which will hopefully benefit from using this setting.

Wow, I thought my 9mm was wide. This would be fun and definitely challenging for landscapes. Thanks for the video.

It would have been fun to shoot video with this lens as you walk around. Maybe do another video about this lens.
👍🏼Thank you Robin🤝👌🏼
Uh oh, the mata at 6:30 is probably suspecting you of taking upskirt photos
Taking pictures of escalators can be quite sus

does it have a cap?
Yes it has a body cap that’s lined so it doesn’t damage the lens
Try to do whole video filmed by this lens :)
I didn't even know 4mm on m4/3 was even possible...

The bulge makes it look extremely prone to scratches.
