Who needs Netflix for drama and comedy? Drama…will the shelves fit?? Comedy…Mrs. handing over the bin! I enjoy being a fan from my armchair. Keep up the incredible work whether it’s fixing or building!
Love this book! ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxpCNxqmAkyjN6NPx1fyB7QiEFWyO5mUWL it is simply one-of-a-kind! I really love it, because karah explained all tools required to have the job done, not mentioning the fabulous diy pallets ideas. I'm pretty sure this will be a fresh start in my new endeavour. Amazon was great, they delivered on time. Thank you!
Thanks Stuart, that's a practical yet interesting design and well executed, I hope Mrs Matthews is happy too, I'm sure she'll help you remember what's next on the list ! 😉
Lovely job as always Stuart. It gives me confidence that a skilled/knowledgeable man like yourself does the same as me, i.e projects evolve as you do them instead of rigid plans 👍🇬🇧🇬🇧
Great Stuart! And just in time for Valentine’s Day 😙for your wife! Could you make a video on how to route out hinges on a full size door? Your video on chiseling out the hinge was artistic and lovely. When I did it took me all day and was more of a painful drama. And my back was killing me.
Fantastic work Stuart, far better than ANY purchased unit every day of the week..... and far more rewarding to design and make. Well put together video again......love the channel!!!
On an early video Stuart said his channel was a place to get support on being in a mess. He has showed his mess a few times so I think he straightens up the corner he is filming. I am so messy too and the more I get done the bigger the mess. I guess it is either a character flaw or a talent. Just get goggles and see the stuff you finished not the gigantic mess you made.
Excellent video Stu and I would argue to say that is much better than something you buy off the shelf. Looks classic and elegant. We wonder too what's next on the list!
Lovely job Stuart, always enjoy your thought process in designing things! Not sure if you did it off camera, but always worth putting some knotting solution over the knots in the wood before priming. This makes sure that any resin from the knot doesn’t come through and stain your nice paintwork!
Great to see a simple woodworking project that everyone (diy) can tackle .one question, you used knotted pine as the legs, you didn't use any knotting solution to avoid any knots weeping later???,some primers do contain it ?,not all , Maybe you should explain that ?? .Also maybe mrmdf could be better?, especially in a place prone to moisture.sorry just nick picking, great video 👍
I don't know how many times I've used knotting in the past and it hasn't made any difference - I still get a yellowing come though so these days I don't bother. The MDF I use is what is available from DIY shops for DIY'ers - that the channel is aimed at. MRMDF is great but the average DIY'er can't readily get their hands on it from a place that can cut it down to get it in the car.
@@ProperDIY 😂😂yes ,your right ,keep it so people can obtain these materials, but I live in a small seaside town whose DIY store (you can guess which one)😂won't cut materials to size😂,but ironically I have a building merchant who will cut a list for you ,but sells Mrmdf (dearer I except)😂,regarding the knotting solution, have you tried a Shellac based primer. Please I'm not being critical, keep your channel as it is ,too many now are going down route where the average Diyer can't afford the tools ,I actually loved when you said "fancy" tools, i.e festool domino 😂😂😂, 👍👍
Another great job Stuart! Im a jot confused how you made the particular shape that the hinges slotted into just by sliding the MDF across the router bit? Did you drill down and chisel out to get the deeper hole?
@ProperDIY Need to use about three coats of knotting. Pain in the *****. Can also use two or three coats of Zinsser shellac based stuff. It dries very quickly and is white.
When using a table saw, Stuart, the blade should only protrude by about 3mm or 1/8 inch when cutting. This leaves it easier to control the cut, get a straight cut, and makes it less likely to lose fingers if you accidentally contact the blade. You should also always leave the guard in place. It was put there for a reason.
@A Sob Story For Every Song a regular health and safety nut, that's me. 🤣 I'm not really, but there are a few power tools which I definitely would not remove the safety guard from, and a table saw is one of them.
big mistake making the shelf into a lid. every horizontal is going to gather litter. every time you lift the lid to put something in the dustbin something will fall off and be lost behind the shelf unit. you would have been better off putting the bin on slides or wheels to pull it out from under the shelf. also, if the glue doesn't hold it, the paint will.
I looked at one of your videos - the breakfast omelette - and couldn't help but laugh when I saw how much cr*p you have scattered across your cooker, especially after reading your comment here

It is amazing how often our wives' priorities become our priorities! Great job.
Had me chuckling at the bin appearing! Hoping the assistant hands become a regular feature 😂
I'll have to encourage her I think.

Another job ticked off from the honey-do-list. Nice one, Stuart!
Proper job again mate. Always a pleasure to watch your channel with a nice cuppa, excellent video.
The best DIY videos on the internet by far. Keep it up Stuart
Nice work Stuart, that's not coming apart in a hurry.
Thanks Karl - I don't think so either - especially with no children or animals running around knocking the thing!
@@ProperDIY haha ye 🤣

A nice little project there Stuart looks good matey.
Nice to see your wife had her hand in this episode. 😂

Great little project Stuart and the finished product looks fantastic. Well done.

That's a very good idea following on from the basic hand method. It's on the list!

Thank you. You are right - better quality and rewarding!
Sometimes I watch you content and think, no problem it’s explained so we’ll I can do that! Other times, such as this, I know it’s back to IKEA 😀
Great job. I absolutely love the shelving. Looks very elegant.
Thank you so much!
Helpful video. Love that the bin slides straight in and out.
How convenient your wife had that bin ! 😉
I know
Very nice project indeed. Really like your attention to detail and standardised workflow; it benefits the results greatly.
Nice work Stu. Hinges are ace. Mega neat fitting also. 👍
Thanks Philip
Really enjoyed that Stuart, job very wel done!
Thanks
Great build Stuart, I know what I'm doing this weekend!!
Hope you enjoy it!
Proper DIY: I wonder what’s next on the list?
Mrs Proper DIY: Yes
Nice job, well done 👍
Thanks! 👍
Before you mentioned the dowels, I was talking to you going "use dowels" pleased you didn't waste the time like, nice tidy build thier 👏
Thank you
Very good job Stuart.
Thanks Larry
How is your house always so pristinely tidy, Stuart? I don't seem to be able to walk into a room without leaving a mess...

@@aaronbell8527 My dad is retired. His house is a tip. Being retired doesn't automatically mean your house will be tidy.
He has a wife. 😉

Totally agree. I have a very long list!

If you could kindly tell the knots in my window frames that 🤣 they repeatedly haven't got that message
Nice Project Stuart! Looks great
Thanks
Simply stunning
Another nice project stuart.Wife always keeping you busy lol. This unit looks taller than 1.40m
Another great video as always hope you and your family are keeping well and safe
Thanks, you too!
Great shelving but a daft idea with folding half shelf as you can’t then use it as a shelf.
Nice , tell you what Stuart you are getting good at this DIY lark, lovely job thank you.
Thanks Kevin - a lot of practice!
As usual another great video, I am so jealous of your workshop and tools. I struggle in a space about 2m x 2m
Thanks David - it's taken a long time to get the space and tools I have so I know what it's like to work in a small area.
Fabulous Stuart, now you can come make one for me 😂😂
Of course Val - when do you want me to come around?

Great project
Very nice. Hope those knots in the legs don't bleed through the paint.
They will but knotting never seems to help either

Neat little project that was. Turned out great. 🙂👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Awesome, thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks for watching!
Great job 👏
Thank you! 😃
These videos are great!
Nice work
👍💯 brilliant job
Doubles as a handy ladder for the loft access too.... ;))
Now thats something I didn't think of - maybe one day...
Nice build !!
Thanks!
Very informative!
Hi Stuart, what is the electric Brad nailer you use please. if it's good enough for you it will be for me also... Thanks
Were do i find more of what you do
What is the best primer size?
"My wife has been suggesting"🤣 I guess time is up after all those years 🙃
Yep
Arh the famous everlasting list that gets longer the more you complete it, I've got one of those too.
Yep **Nods in agreement**
See, I thought I wasn't the only one!
👍
Wonder no more... if she's like my wife, there's a list 😂 Nice video as usual.
Good one!
hi, nice job. what paint did you use on it?
Good point, I didn't show that did I - fast drying, water based Deluxe semi gloss type I think it was.
If a man tell that will do something, there is no need to remember him about it every year 🤣

Hey Stuart stop using the regular screwdrivers and just use clutch in drill driver :)
If it works, what's the issue?
I really hate watching people holding work with one hand and chiselling with the other, gives me shivers.
When you kicked the bin I was a bit taken aback by the cracked grout.
Cracked. Grout. In Stuart’s house. Why, I….. I
True - new property, 2 years old and I've not refurbished the bathroom yet so all the drying cracks are still there
As I say to my cohabiting client…. I know she wants the cupboard built.. she doesn’t need to keep telling me every 6 months.
Nice one Frank
nooice!
Thanks
Some really nice music in this one, can we get a track list?
What’s next on the list ? What’s next on the wife’s list ?
Love your channel, it’s clear and concise , but I wish you wouldn’t wear gloves on rotating machinery !!!! If it grabs you’ll get worse than a nick 😢
Thanks
So jealous ...your wife is a lucky lady. I have one useless tool.
All I can say is look out IKEA.
Thank you

Your advice is interesting, so I had a quick look at your videos - conclusion - I’m not confident in your opinion!
