Lambs and Kids Headed to the Sale

The sale at Norwood Mo. went well. There was a lot of stock there, over 3000 hd. You may think that would depress prices but it also brings a lot of buyers. They also have the sale on video auction for buyers to bid if not in attendance.
Compared to the last sale, numbers we did just as good. Compared to last year, lambs were up and goats were cheaper.
Our lambs weighed more than I thought. They must have gained through that brutally cold weather we had. The goats weighed about what I thought they would. We weighed all of them about 3 weeks ago and sorted everyone weighing over 65 lbs.

I think the sale barns have been ripping the farmer off the whole time, no sir your sheep done shrunk 10% on the ride.

Sale barns just get commission they don’t make any money having the lambs lower. Pretty sure they have to have certified scales, I don’t see 10% shrink either so it’s more likely his scales are a little off.

@@willjohnson3907 Likely scales could be off a few lbs. It's hard to be that accurate. Also, 4 hr. ride after a couple weeks of bad weather doesn't help.

Greg, sure enjoy your videos. Expanding my goat and sheep now , the videos and your book have really helped. Also had a ewe lamb go lame about a month ago, 1 back leg dragging. Because of the video on the brain worms I determined it wasn't an injury and dosed her with invermectin. She has been standing on it this last week and I'm having a hard time picking her out. Good news. Thank you

How come some pens have hay in them? Is that up to the seller?

They probably came in the night before. The seller has to pay for it.

Lambs are higher than last year. Goats are lower.
