Thank you, I’ve watched a few videos on this product and wondered if you could only wire up one slider and still use the second slider for a separate device, exactly how you set yours up is how I would want to set mine up. Now to get Brilliant to make them compatible with the U.K
Great review! I've been watching the Brilliant Tech Switch for quite sometime but the cost is rather high. Ideally if it were two of the switches for the cost that would certainly be more appealing. :)
Yeah, that is the dilemma. I think if you are planning to replace the switches with smart ones you'd be better off with other smart switches. But if you'd like something on the wall that lets you control everything in the house, then this system works very well. Especially since they work with SmartThings.
Hold on let me get this straight, you only had one active switch in the 2 gang box and you were able to wire up only one switch and the second slider still functions? (connecting virtually to another smart bulb/switch)
correct. the switch that controlled the fan we wired into the Brillant. the other switch we had previously disabled as it just controlled an outlet in the room that we converted to a smart outlet therefore negating the need for the switch. then why get a two gang Brillant you ask? we wanted to test not only the display but their sliders. so we used the one slider for the fan and we use the other slider that is not wired to control our kitchen light controlled by SmartThings (virtual as you say). the nice thing about brilliant is you can reprogram those sliders to other switches.
@@Appmyhome awesome thanks for taking the time to reply. I have a 3 gang switch where one is no longer active and thought my only option was to replace with a 2 gang and drywall it up. This would be a much better solution, not to mention the extra work it would save me.
this is the “fun” part of home automation. you have to figure that devices will change over time. some because they go out of business but more likely because something better comes along or gets updated and you want that new one. basically it’s still an emerging technology field. if you’re a techie family like us it is fun to try out new and innovative products.
I've read the awful reviews on Amazon. They need alot of work to do with this "brilliant smart switch device" $299 for something that doesnt work properly. Before you buy this do your research. You dont wanna pay $300.00 for something that doesnt work as advertised.
ours has been working as expected. the only issue we have is it’s alexa integration. this may because it’s close to an amazon alexa device and gets confused as to who is supposed to answer. what issues have you had?

You're welcome! Hopefully they will support you all over in the UK.
Thanks for the review, hoping to build a house later this year and I definitely want to integrate this system
that is cool. building a house is so rewarding. be sure to let us know what other smart gadgets you include. all the best.
does it come with additional wires to just connect to the wall wires with the wire nuts?
Yes and they are even color coded. Watch carefully as we showed them in the video.
What type of cameras did you use
we used. ring doorbell cam and a ring outdoor cam, both older models. the panel itself has a built in camera.

My fear is that brilliant becomes a Wink in the future. (Meaning a paperweight, becauae went belly up and now it is useless)
