This was by far the best tutorial I found for connecting Granny Squares. I researched different methods for many hours. I was bored with all of the usual methods and was looking for something new and refreshing. Your step by step instructions were simple to understand. You made your stitches slow enough for me to be able to keep up. A beginner could easily use your instructions, but the end result looks like a very experienced stitch. Thank you for making it so easy.
+Bronislava Slagle (HandmadeRukodelky) I don't know how you could possibly be more clear than you already are. Your video is amazing. It is slow enough for a beginner to follow. I enjoyed watching and can't wait to use this method. Thank-you for sharing. Your accent is very soothing.
so wonderful that you took the time to share this for all the rest of us to learn. I am a self taught crocheter and rely heavily on tutorials when I get stuck or need a new stitch to try.....THANK YOU THANK YOU for one of the easiest tutorials to follow! AND I could listen to your voice all day.....so soothing
Thank you for this wonderful tutorial. As a beginner crocheter, this is an easy and beautiful way to attach Granny Squares. So simple, yet very pretty. Your instructions were easy to follow. Can't wait to get started.
Your a amazing teacher. English is not your dominating language, but yet you speak it as you teach, and I can still follow along and completely understand what you are doing.
I love the trick you use to start a new color so that I don't have to weave the tail in -- this method looks great, and I can't wait to try it. Thanks!
New person here...I've been trying all kind of ways to connect squares and this is the best and easiest yet!! I love to hear you speaking, and you are so patient in your directions!! Thank you so much for teaching us!! God Bless!!
Thank you so much for this tutorial! You are so patient and you're instructions are so easy to follow. I am a beginner and wanted to make a baby afghan for my new granddaughter. Thanks to you I was able to do that and my family loved it! :)
Your instructions are so easy to follow. This is my new project! I've never done a cable stitch. Thank you for the repetition, it has really helped while attempting to connect the individual squares into a blanket. I'm sure I watched it 80 times trying to do it correctly.
I don't usually comment but I have to thank you sincerely because I watched many videos on how to join granny squares and your method is the tidiest and most visually appealing. Great work, thanks again. Fay
I have watched so many video's on attaching granny squares. An WOW finally found your video. It's great, easy to follow. I've already done 4 squares with no problem. Thank you so much for a wonderful, simple to follow granny!!!
Excellent, Bronislava!! I've been researching how to join my granny squares for DAYS and your video/method is the BEST! I'm going to use your cable stitch. THANK YOU!!!
Thank you so much for this! I had 247 squares to join, but they had picots on the edge and I wanted them to keep their beautiful appearance. This method is perfect for all squares with rough edges. Many thanks for a very good tutorial!!
Thank you so much for taking so much time to explain and show exactly what you were doing. Some people go too fast and you can't see what they are doing. I love the look of this so much that I'm going to rip out the join I've done on a few large squares that I'm making a valance for my kitchen window and redo it with this stitch! I think I'll even change the colour of yarn (I used multi-coloured) to make it more noticeable. Thanks, again!
thank you !!! 🌹just for your information - if you are on the pc - you can slow down the video - I made a video about that (I hear that you cannot slow it down on tablets or smartphones thought) ua-cam.com/video/nU8ZbzXNTRI/v-deo.html
You are so clear, precise and easy to follow! This is the most beautiful way of crocheting granny squares together I have seen anywhere! You bring such pleasure to learn by I can't thank you enough!!
I like your tutorials, they're very clear, and I like the way you repeat things lots of times, so that it's easier for a beginner like myself to pick up the techniques. Thanks.
I hope I'm not bothering you by continuing to make comments, but honestly, I have to say that this is the best video available on joining squares by a flat braid. Some just show you how to get started but you have gone further by actually showing how to completely join more than one square. So thank you so very much. I've never done the flat braid join before but you have made it so easy to learn how to do it! Have a blessed weekend!
Bronislava, I saved this a long time ago in my library, but I'm sorry to say I had never gotten back to it to subscribe! I should have done so a long time ago...Sorry about that - and thank you for the tutorial. My mother and I love this...I'm trying to encourage her to crochet!
Thank you for teaching me this great joining cable stitch, it looks so much nicer on my flower granny squares than just the regular slip stitch or single crochet window pane. wonderful tutorial, I loved it.
Of all the crochet joins I"ve seen, this is by far my favorite! Thank you for sharing your video. It was so easy to follow and understand. I was going to use a single crochet join on my first afghan project, however, you made this look so simple, I'm going to use your technique.
I have not made a granny square that turned out square before. Thank you for your easy to learn video, I now feel I have it mastered. Learning how to join them is a plus. I'll be bavck for more.
Thank you for the video. I love how you attached your granny squares. Also in all my years of watching crocheting videos, I have never seen anyone hold their hook the way I do!
+Kim Dobbs My grandmother taught me to crochet and that is how she held her hook. I am glad, because I learned to hold my hook the same way and sometimes my hands get stiff and I am still able to grip the crochet hook.
Thank you so much for this wonderful easy Tutorial. I attached my Granny today for the first time. Never did before. No I know how !!! Your video is so clear, I really love it !
Thanks you so much. I'm a crochet beginner with a lot of grannysquares. I am making a jumper and was looking for a wat to joint the squares together. Your video is well done. You explain it so well. Thanks!!!!
I like your method best from all the ones I have watched. So easy to understand and your joining of the squares seems to pucker less. Plus it makes a really nice decorative braid. Thanks!
+Maureen Sellers Hi Maureen; I know how frustrating it can be, not understanding a written pattern. I have had to teach myself how to read patterns. When my grandmother taught me to crochet, she would show me an example and tell me to make a short post(single crochet), make a longer post(half double crochet) a longer post(double crochet) or an extra long post(Treble or triple crochet)to match the posts in the doily she used to show me. She didn't tell me the names of the stitches. She would point out the spaces and tell me to make a space that size, but didn't tell me that it was a chain 2 or a chain 3 space. The only way I could begin to follow a pattern was if there was a very close-up photo included with the pattern. I wish there had been tutorials available forty years ago. Vicki Henderson
Maureen Sellers you really need to start learning how to read patterns. Because if you're only able to crochet from video tutorials you're never going to be able to actually crochet a lot of stuff, and not only that a lot of channels for crochet tutorials on UA-cam end up deleting all their old videos every month/every few months/every year/and some times every single week. So if you saved your most favorite patterns into a playlist on UA-cam so that you could come back and crochet the pattern again or so you could crochet it later on when you've gotten more experienced with crocheting, you're going to end up going into the playlist and seeing that almost all the patterns you've save are gone. It's REALLY not that friggin hard to learn how to read a pattern especially when you can look up on Google every thing you need to know about reading crochet patterns or look up videos teaching you how to read patterns!
Maureen Sellers you REALLY NEED TO PAY ATTENTION AND WRITE EVERYTHING I TYPE IN THIS COMMENT INTO A NOTE BOOK, AS SOON AS I FINISH THIS VERY FIRST SENTENCE!! Ch=Chain, BOTH SL and ST= Slip Stitch, SC=Single crochet stitch, HDC= Half double crochet stitch, DC=Double crochet stitch, TR=Tremble crochet, TrTr=Triple tremble crochet, FPdc=front post double crochet, BPdc=back post double crochet, DC2Tog=Double crochet 2 stitches together, Dec=Decrease the number of stitches, Cont=Continue, Ch-sp=Chain space, Cl=Cluster, SC2Tog=Single crochet 2 stitches together, When working with multiple colors in a crochet project CA and=color A (Is the main of dominant color of the project, meaning there is more of the first color than any of the secondary color/or colors. MC means "Main color which holds the same dominance and meaning as CA " Color A) CB=Color B(one of the secondary colors if you're working with more than two colors, if you're working with just two colors then it is just the secondary color.), CC=contrasting colors, Rem=Remain/remaining, Prev=Previous, Both PM and PSM=Place stitch marker/makers, FPsc=Front post single crochet, BPsc=Back post single crochet, BOTH Pat and Pats=pattern and patterns, PC=Popcorn stitch, LP OR LP (S)=Loops, INC=Increase number of stitches, MM=Millimeters, Beg=begin/Beginning, Bet=Between, BOTH P and PCT=Picot stitch, BO=Bobble... Every pattern in a pattern book or on a pattern website WILL tell you what stitches are used such as CH,SC, HDC, DC, SL OR ST. They WILL always tell you what stitches and abbreviations are used in the pattern, before they even tell you how many chains you need to make and tell you what to do for the first row! So please write this all down and then go on the search bar on UA-cam or Google and look up the video tutorials showing you how to make a tremble crochet, a cluster, a front post DC, a back post DC, how to single crochet or double crochet two stitches together (which will decrease the number of stitches you have) and the rest of the abbreviations I typed out for you. After you see how to. Make all the stitches go to google and look up the other abbreviations. You will be able to read a crochet patterns and pattern books for beginners in no time if you do what I suggested. As I said if you don't learn how to read patterns and are only able to crochet along with video tutorials, you won't be able to do a lot of patterns for a lot of things and you WILL eventually lose all your favorite patterns from the video tutorials because they WILL be removed eventually. I've always been able to read patterns and I write down in my five subject note books (I buy them specifically for the purpose of writing the patterns in them) every pattern I come across on UA-cam so that I will always have it, and I also copy down all my patterns from every single pattern book so I'll always have them if the book gets lost or ruined, and I do the same for the patterns from pattern websites!
Beautiful!!! Thank you for showing this easy and awesome looking joint! This is what i was looking for. Easy and nice. And also well and slowly explained. You are awesome. I've got different granny squares and now I can line them up so it looks cleaner! Thank you so much for this video!
Thank you, I was born in the Netherlands but been in New Zealand since I was 12. I still have my accent and sound like you. I sent my boys overseas to show them how the other half lives. Results, eldest boy married to a lovely hungarian girl and the youngest to a swedish girl. United nations in our house hahaha
This is a great video. I've always struggled with attaching granny squares together, but I love this technique! You explain it well and demonstrate it well. Thank you!
Thank you for sharing this video, it was extremely helpful. I love listening to your voice as well. My mom was German, her sisters all lived in a German, Czech community, along with some Dutch. Your accent takes me back to spending time with the lovable aunts that helped teach me to crochet and cook.
I had tried a few other tutorials for this.. I had never heard of this method.. In the pattern I am following they called this the Flat Braid Joining method.. I found your tutorial the best one ,, You sound so patient and I feel confident enough to try this now ! Thank you!
I love this method! It looks very nice. You are a wonderful teacher & explain very well. I can easily understand & follow your directions. It's a pleasure listening to you speak - I like your accent. Thank you very much for this tutorial =^)
Excellent tutorial!! I just made a king size spread far a client that had written pattern. The written instructions were not very clear! It did not state "Cable" stitch & I relied in those written instructions. Now I kniw, by watching you, just how it should have been done!! I became very frustrated & it was a HUGE project! Thank you so very much! Client now wants an afghan made in same pattern. The blocks aren't granny squares but a solid sc w/heart pattern in center.
you made my day, that it helped you... I really appreciate your input and cheer you on with your achievements - if you ever want you can share your images on my FB page 😉😀🌹🌹🌹🌹
Thank you so much for this tutorial, i just tried this with some sunflower granny squares i made yesterday and it looks much cleaner and smoother looking than sewing or just single crocheting them together. I'm going to do this instead when i make granny square projects from now on.
I am making a blanket for my grandson. It's my first real project. I got squares all over the house. Thanks for you great video now I can actually put them to gether. (My husband will be so glad!) lol
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, :) I am a beginner at Granny Squares and attaching them , you make it SOOOO Easy for me to comprehend your wonderful !!!!!!
Thank you for posting this. I usually join by sewing together, but this is easier and looks much nicer. Sewing can be difficult if you are using a thicker yarn... Your English is very good, well done... Wonderful tutorial...
+Bonnie Konjevich - thank you very much. I wish I could see the outcome. If you have any way to put your image online please share the link in the comments.
This is the most beautiful joining method I’ve seen, and I’ve been crocheting for about 50 years. Thank you for your excellent tutorial! Love it.
You are so welcome, Darci - it was passed down to me from my mom who was enthusiast in knitting and crocheting - enjoy

I had tried a few other tutorials for this.. I had never heard of this method.. In the pattern I am following they called this the Flat Braid Joining method.. I found your tutorial the best one ,, You sound so patient and I feel confident enough to try this now ! Thank you!

Thanks so much! I'm working on a granny square blanket and have been hunting for a good stitch to put it all together and I think this is it :)
+Julie St. Thomas - enjoy and may your blankie be the most beautiful :-)
Julie St. Thomas is ctoachetafgan afghan corner to corner

Thank you for posting this. I usually join by sewing together, but this is easier and looks much nicer. Sewing can be difficult if you are using a thicker yarn... Your English is very good, well done... Wonderful tutorial...
