    The Amun-Ra is also my #1 choice. I'll never forget the scene in ep. 4 where the unidentified ship decelerating towards the Donnager reveals itself to be 4 baddest ass stealth warships. So far this is THE best implementation of stealth tech in any film or TV show. I absolutely love it.

    • @hanneswiggenhorn2023
      @hanneswiggenhorn2023 Рік тому +4

      What makes it work so well for me is that you look at it, and you know it's a stealth ship. There are no weird magical devices inside that turn your smooth, glowing ball of pure radar reflection invisible. The stealth factor of this ship comes from its exterior design

    • @QualityPen
      @QualityPen Рік тому +1

      It’s not an implementation of stealth tech. The Anum-Ra would show up like I giant “I’m right here!” sign on thermal imaging.
      It’s generating MW to GW levels of energy. All that has to leave the ship as thermal radiation.
      The books make mention of temporarily offloading the heat to internal water and later jettisoning it, but there’s no way the levels of heat generated by the stealth ships could be hidden for longer than a matter of minutes- maybe several hours. It takes days to maneuver within a planet’s space. It takes months to years to maneuver between planets.
      Moreover, stealth would be broken the moment the ship uses weapons or uses thrusters.
      From the perspective of its enemies, they’d see a ship moving towards them for days and then maybe disappear from thermal for an hour, during which time it’d be unable to do anything.
      If they know the enemy knows of ships, they could just extrapolate the ship’s position based on its velocity before going dark and launch a missiles at it, then make a minor course correction to avoid ever coming within 10,000 km of the stealth ship.

      the Miranda class is cool but what they did with her was apaling..
      They simply kept reusing the model in a history set 100 years later.. same as with the Excelsion and Oberth class just to save money reusing the models.. why we dont see more Constellations (a design delivery created for TNG and suposed to be more modern) or ambassadors .. or for the same logic more Constitutions.. even having the Soyuz class "mod" they only showed one....

    I don't know about the other 4, but my pick would be the TIE Stealth from Rebel Assault II.

      @GarfieldofBorg 5 років тому +1

      gphoenix51 The Scimitar's cloaking was perfect because it most likely had more than one cloaking device, which is implied to be the case by dialogue from "Star Trek: Nemesis". Also, the Scimitar was probably also equipped with the most advanced Romulan cloaking device(s) that Shinzon and his followers could get their hands on.

It's a single pilot stealth fighter that sports an incredibly slim front and side silhouette, it's hull is designed to deflect sensors signals from other ships and guided ordinance, it's extremely maneuverable and quick, it has enough armaments to defend itself handily and like the rest of the fighters and bombers of FreeSpace it has its own subspace/ftl drive so it can dip if its ever in over its head.

Sure, there could be just about anything behind the door (minimap, or the picture of the interior layout don't display this room), but given their location, probable size of the room and the absence of a toilet anywhere else on the ship, I'd say it is safe to assume there is a toilet.

    I'd throw in a few extras: from the Honorverse, the Mesan Alignment's Shark- and Leonard Detweiler-class battleships (plus the virtually unarmed Ghost-class scout frigates): equipped with a Spider drive that rendered them virtually undetectable to the gravimetric sensors that formed the primary detection methods of their contemporaries, albeit at a fraction of the possible acceleration, and equipped with low-signature stealthed weapons pods for long-range strikes, they are excellent silent killers. Unfortunately, the hull configuration, and mass/cubage required by the Spider meant they were unable to mount conventional drives as well, nor to project the "sidewall" shields other navies used for protection, meaning they were slow and vulnerable... if something spotted them.
    From the Jenkinsverse, the Drunker On Turkeyer (no, seriously, that's what it's called): the personal flagship of Great Father Daar of the Gao, fitted with the very best in drives and capacitors for boisterous sub-light manoeuvring and frankly ridiculous FTL speeds, radar-absorbent stealth composite hull, a generous EWAR suite (they can't see you if you've blinded them), a shield designed to redirect virtually all of an attack's energy back at an attacker as a gamma-ray laser, or dump a ship's waste heat out through the same system in a directed stream away from enemies to reduce noticeable emissions. Add to that a large battery of railguns, missiles, lasers and potentially access to wormhole-delivered ordnance (via their alliance with Earth, although once the Dark Eye nanofact can be repurposed from the rebuilding of Gao, it's likely that capacity would be used to build up their own strategic weapons reserve), and it's one hell of a bruiser that'll likely only be seen if they want to be.

    I wonder if Normandy-class ships have proper silent-running protocols. Something in the vein of deactivating all non-essential systems to minimise heat generation. Especially in the event of a passive drift that the Codex mentions, that can be maintained for days. Turn off the artificial gravity like ships are described as doing in combat, deactivate internal heaters since it's going to get warm in there soon enough regardless, turn down the lighting...

    This is a great list. Ever since I saw the Orion class in Blood and Chrome I loved it. After doing some research on it, it became my favorite BSG ship. I think the Orion class proves one thing...it's not the size of the weapon but how you use it that matters. I also like how the designers used a sensor cloak over a visual cloak.
    Also I have received my stuff from the Sojourn fund raiser and couldn't be happier. Though our local post office decided to disregard the instructions of not bending it, at least they didn't fold it. As for the downloads I am unclear where to go for those. The last few emails I have received have been unreadable for some reason. I am currently searching for a good frame for the Letter of Mark, and am trying to decide on what the patch will go. The pin looks awesome and will be put onto my Con bag. I look forward to answering the questions I'm sure will come by having it there.
    Anyway thanks for all the hard work you guys do. Your content is informative and entertaining. BTW are you guys going start back on Twitch soon? I'm sure you all are super busy but the content there is missed.
