    Ok, thanks to you I'm diving back into minitwist long term! I wanted sisterlocks or microlocks but their above my budget and I'm not 100% ready to commit to interlocking my minitwist in hopes that my minitwist turn into locks, what if they don't lock up right, then I'm stuck with interlocked ridiculously looking minitwist. And may have to do a big chop. However I am going to return to minitwist perhaps even micro-twist. But this time I will donate five nights every twenty-eight days "you know which five I mean" taking one section at a time to detangle and retwist maybe 50-100 each night til all are done, once per month. So it's like I'm installing my own locks that will not be locked but I'm going to pretend they are. It's just that my interlocking method will be an actual detangle and reinstall. Minitwist are the bomb.

    Your mini twists look more like sisterlocks...very small.

    A relaxer at 7!! I don't know any licensed cosmetologist who do it that early. wow

    • @ParisIn85channel
      @ParisIn85channel  7 років тому +6

      Yeah, it sounds bad but I think my mother only wanted to make me happy. Many licensed cosmetologist out there are doing horrible things to people's hair. Which is the reason why I stopped going to one due to my trust issues from the experiences I've had. I think when I have girls I'll let them do what they want to their hair once they are in their last years of high school but until then my home will be relaxer free.

      Max Goodwin I had my first relaxer at age 7 as well! I also know a girl whose mom is a licensed cosmetologist and she permed her child’s hair at 2! 😩

      Back in the day they did. I got one when I was 5 . I’m an 80s baby and from the south so around that time u either had a press or relaxer unless u were mixed or had a texture that was easier to maintain. I have thick 3c-4b curls and coils, low porosity... fine strands . My mom said wash days were hard for her handling all my hair and a just for me seemed like an awesome way to handle my hair. I cried when she would take me to get it pressed and I was a tomboy so that lasted a day or two lol . I think now people don’t do it as early but in the 80s and early 90s people put “kiddie “ relaxer in early

    I just discovered your youtube channel and website yesterday. And I've watched more of your videos since that time than I care to admit. Great job. Your hair is beautiful and I really enjoy all your tips and insights.

    Wow your hair journey is really similar to mine! I too transitioned in the early 2000s (2003) in my late teens. I lived in a flat iron and ponytail for years, did multiple big chops, and then in December 2011 (a year before you) I started transitioning from heat damage, learning about healthy hair, and haven't flat ironed since, nor have I blow dried with heat. Now I had another set back in 2015 from refusing to trim for all of 2014 and most of 2013 and did a semi-big chop (from about 17 inches to about 8 inches). But since then I've been growing nicely and seeing great results.

    Omg girl this is my childhood hairstyle!!! I'm going back to this when my hair gets a little longer, it's back to being thick but not long yet, but steadily getting there.

    hi I have similar hair to yours and I wonder how often you add protein in your routine if any

    • @ParisIn85channel
      @ParisIn85channel  7 років тому +1

      Since I don't use heat to style my hair and having low porosity hair now I really don't use protein. I've never have done protein treatments but would use Aubrey Organics GPB conditioner from time to time.

    I'm transitioning now (5 months post relaxer) and I also workout a lot. I cowash after my workouts (3-5x a week) because I sweat so much and I shampoo weekly. So far no breakage but I'm wondering if you have any suggestions. Not sure if all this cowashing is bad for my hair. Also, I would love to put my hair in two strand twists but my ends are so straight that they unravel and all my hard work is gone. Suggestions appreciated :)

      @ParisIn85channel  7 років тому +4

      If your hair is doing fine with your routine continue with it. You have to do what works best for your hair and your lifestyle. I wore two strand twists all the time when I transitioned from heat damage, ua-cam.com/video/cVd-3SiOsvE/v-deo.html, but I pinned them up because they didn't look good down and would unravel.

    I just saw your beautiful hair! How long do you wear your twist?

    • @ParisIn85channel
      @ParisIn85channel  7 років тому +6

      Thank you! I'm still wearing them. It'll be a total of about 4.5 weeks before I take them down.

  • @plawrence0885

    I'm exactly where you were and we have similar hair textures! I received heat damage almost a year ago. I've cut A LOT but there still is damage left. Not exactly sure what I should do bc it's a battle and frustrating to have two different textures on my head. Any more advice on recovering from heat damage? I did watch your video and will try some of the styles I saw.

    • @ParisIn85channel
      @ParisIn85channel  7 років тому

      Hey! Another tip would be to make sure you are cleansing your hair at least once a week. This is your main source of moisture and will help with reducing breakage.

      Hi, I really need to do a video on this but I mainly use my whipped shea butter mix (recipe is on my channel) and I trim my ends 2 to 4 times a year or when needed. Thanks for subscribing!

    Wait u do those mini twist once a week damn where do u get the time I would just leave it in for a month and also wash every two weeks and condition while in twist but that's me

    • @ParisIn85channel
      @ParisIn85channel  7 років тому +5

      Hey. No, I do not do mini twits once a week. I keep my mini twists in for about a month, which is only about 10% of the year. Which is why I stated in the video that I "usually" wash and style my hair once a week. I have videos on my channel showing my routine and take down of my mini twists. Take care.
