It just shows how everyone has different experiences! I loveeeeeddddd Utila. So much. The dive community was incredible, it felt so easy to make friends as a solo traveler & I felt like I was back in college again with the sense of community. Caye Caulker was OK to me. So expensive & learning that the boats feed the fish really turned me off from wanting to enjoy the snorkeling and scuba diving. It’s so good but at a price of interfering with nature :(. I also got unlucky with Acatenango but it was still a highlight of my trip!
Yes, it all depends on so many factors. I fid choose a tour company that doesn’t feed them, but others still do in the same place… For Utila I think a lot depends on the dive centre, but I loved the 2 girls I ended up meeting.
I'm setting off for this exact trip in a month's time and I'm really glad I found your videos! Do you have any advice for finding shuttles that will take you across each border?
In each vlog you can see how I got to the place. I did use TicaBuses often. I also made a video about border crossing and a general guide to traveling Central America.
Hola Sara, super helpful video. Thank you very much! 🙌 What is the name of the hostel in El Tunco? And do you recommend doing the San Blas Island tour to Colombia by motorboat or sailboat? ☺️👋
Glad you found it useful! I stayed at Canuck’s hostel in El Tunco, you can see it in my El Salvador video. It’s a difficult choice for San Blas, because I love sailing instead, but the speed boat gives you the opportunity to see more in a shorter time. It’s also the local transportation.

I loved my Acatenango hike. I found just the opposite - going up was painful and coming down was easy. Lots of eruptions and lava when I went.
Loved this ❤
Glad you enjoyed it!

How did you get from one country to the next? Did you use TicaBuses?

Im sorry for what you have to go through Nicaragua, The catcalling and overall sexism of men is one of the things I hate the most of my country💔💔
Thank you 🙏🏼
