Chesed comes from a long line of rich and oblivious folks. However he threw all of it away to see the true side of humanity. He is a deeply forgiving and understanding person who only want what is best for other’s health and safety. He is a humanitarian who sees human condition over social class. He suffers a lot of guilt over his previous life. He caused countless lives to die because he was too afraid to stand up and protect those lives. He plays a pivotal role in getting the main characters to realize they’re still holding onto trauma that is leading to their own self destruction. He’s my favorite Sephirah and his library floor, and department are my favorite for this reason. … He’s also a coffee addict. Literally when the main character meets him his first question to get to know the main character is “how do you like your coffee made?” He’s a true conversationalist who likes to poke people for information in a cheeky and playful way. Being a rich kid, he does have a sense of regality to him.
I also love how a lot of floors have the "sacrifice everyone to create an unstoppable god" but Chesed is like "What if the unstoppable god was the friends we made along the way?" It fits him to a T
Ah yes, my favourite type of video: "musician listens to one theme and guesses the entire character from it". Conversationalist, cheeky, somewhat regal - everything checks out. Wouldn't be surprised if you guessed that he likes coffee solely from music. Also, knowing the symbolism behind piano and violin in LoR (though, admittedly, it's probably not present everywhere) makes phrases like "violin and piano are having a conversation" into good guesses too
Chesed's theme is mainly supposed to be the opposite of Gebura's. However his theme is also supposed to signify his Acceptance of being afraid, The fear of making mistakes and not being able to move forward, By Understanding himself and moving on despite being afraid is what makes the melody, Dancing with fear like the swirl of coffee in his mug, As the song moves onward to it's next stages, Chesed becomes more accepting of his past and fears. Grasping the perfect "brew" that makes him, himself. As the Song swirls, The coffee stirs, Mixing into beauty and a perfect taste. The entire song is Chesed,
Chesed, never will you find him in his room without him having a cup of coffee. Only Tiphereth left for the librarian theme! If you're wondering if it's the end, no, there are still several more ost in this game, here are some: - Early Battle 1-3 - LoR version of "Warning 1-3" - The Reverberation Ensemble - The Reverberation Ensemble Distorted - Lobby theme (very short under 1 minute) Glad you enjoyed the ride on this series
The Reverberation Ensemble are the main antagonists of Library of Ruina, and their boss fight music is also really pretty. There are actually two tracks: - The first time you fight them, you hear the "Reverberation Ensemble" tracks. There are four tracks - Asiyah, Briah, Atziluth, and Argalia - totalling 12 minutes - The second and last time you fight them, you hear the "Reverberation Ensemble Distorted" tracks. There are only 3 tracks - Asiyah, Briah, and Atziluth - totalling 4 minutes For extra context, every member of the Reverberation is associated with an instrument as well as a Librarian (whose themes you're listening to now.) I don't have a list on hand right now, though.
I also recommend listening to the version of the "Reverb Ensemble Distorted" that's on Studio EIM's channel since it's different (more complete) than the in game version uploads in other channels.
Chesed has the best sephira meltdown theme in lobcorp for some reason, the others got those beat songs like you listened to in gebura's, but chesed sephira meltdown theme has actual melody, it's actually a really simple theme but it really stands up as the other melthown themes are just eerie music or drums
I heard someone say it's super "flat" as a theme (melody doesn't really peak anywhere, if that makes sense?) because even this act of rebellion is half-hearted
Arguably the best floor theme in the game imo. The only real contender is Binah. (I love Gebura's theme the most, but it's not quite as complex as those 2.)
Ya know, you did Lobotomy Corporation's warnings, but you have to check out the Library of Ruina's warnings as well! They're sort of.. remixes of the lob corp ones and they're really nice
To me, the conversation between the violin and piano basically goes : Phase one, the violin talks, the piano barely listens. Phase two, the violin talks, the piano talks back, but the piano disagrees with the violin. It feels like the piano is going against the violin Phase three, the violin is talking, the piano talks back, and the piano agrees with the violin. It feels like the piano now fully supports the violin.
Would love to see you reacting to the Sephirah Meltdown/Suppression themes from Lobotomy Corporation, mostly because you've listened to the character themes from Ruina and you'd go crazy comparing those to their LobCorp versions. Since you've done Geburah's (Insignia Decay) already, I'd recommend Malkuth's theme (Violation of Black Colors) Hod's suppression theme would definitely throw you off completely too.
I call it "Crew bonds and sunken ships" Chesed is benevolent. He wishes good to everyone, wants to eliminate or reduce to minimum any potential suffering any single person might feel in their daily life. Yet he finds calmness and genuine pleasure in society, the structure where every single person is doing their part, be it large or small, to form something useful and beautiful, that unites all who work on its creation into an elusive, ephemeral "one". So, yeah, one who likes a long philosophical discussion over a cup of coffee. My favourite Ruina librarian.
To me Chesed's theme always felt more like a sound of a journey, exploration, like some grand adventure, with phase 3 sounding more like a climactic battle, or a moment of inspiring speech, as if following a fairytale hero, not sure where panic or anxiety came from. If I had to compare it to anything, then one track that comes to mind is olive scribe from one of the unused homestuck OSTs.
