Wow ...😱😍 surprisingly I too have only these 3 colours with me 🥰i had planned to propagate it but couldn't find the right instructions... now I got it thank you 🙌🏻💫💞
Have you tried growing a cutting 'hydroponically' by putting it in a small jar of water with a tiny bit of the rooting hormone stirred into it? If so, how did it turn out?
I have 2 grown bushes of pink dianthus ( planted about 3 years ago) They are doing well, but now, when it's very hot, they are full of spent blooms and there are so many of them, that it's impossible to clean it all. I've noticed some of the spent booms are hard to the touch and look like they're budding again. And other spent blooms are soft and coming undone when touched. Should I leave the hard ones alone? And only clean the soft ones? Also, is it okay to take cuttings from it now, as the plant is with just very few blooms? They completely covered the ground below them and if I pull out a stem, it's 3 -4 times the height of the plant. Looks like they are growing in length, on the ground. Also, I'm in zone 5, I think. Northeastern USA.
@@johnsonengleng thank you so very much. I really appreciate your response and passion for flowers. Dianthus are my absolute favorite. So what will happen after I prune them all? Will they extend more flowers? Also, I've heard there's a need to thin them out, if they are so bunched up together. Should I try to do that? And if yes, how can I do it without damaging them.
Ive made thousands of cuttings this way and never used rooting hormone before you worry about that just try one cutting in your mix ( if you got your own homebrew compost going) and you will probably be fine.
did you keep the soil moist the first two weeks ? Ive done hundreds of these ive never used rooting hormone though im keen to try after seeing it recommended so much if just to test it. Still id say poor potting soil or not enough water are the issues.
I have these in 2 colors red and pink.
The flowers are so pretty and the best part is it's a perennial. I am propogating more.
Thanks for sharing

I got the pink one! Will definitely try to propagate from cutting .
Sure...
Have you tried growing a cutting 'hydroponically' by putting it in a small jar of water with a tiny bit of the rooting hormone stirred into it? If so, how did it turn out?
No not yet
Should we keep it in shade until new roots come? Watering details for the young plant? These details are essential
Keep the cuttings in indirect sunlight in bright light area... About water check the soil mix if it is dry give water
My Dianthus plant leaves are narrow &light green in color ...is this because of any deficiency? Should I use any fertilisers for it ?
Yes...repot the plant using well drained soil mix with fertilizer
@@johnsonengleng thanks
Should I put in the sun or shade after I make the cuttings ?
Yes in shade
How do u select good cuttings? Isit one with a new bud or one that has bloomed? Will I get any result with a cutting with flower attached still?
You can take both for cuttings,,,

My bf gifted me a dianthus plant, the root has started to rot and I've lost a lot of leaves. I'm trying my best to save it
Give less water...and repot to different pots...it will grow well in winter
@@johnsonengleng thank you, I've made a different mix of soil.I could save a part of the root. Will give less water and minimum in sunlight
I couldn't understand your potting mix. Do you mind typing it here, please?

Johnson, please tell me, is cuttings can grow without rooting hormone powder?... or it u compalsury?
Ya you can grow cuttings without roots and root hormon... But you need to keep in indirect sunlight... And take care of it
But with roots it grows goods and fast
@@johnsonengleng oh I see
@@johnsonengleng thank u so much Johnson
@@johnsonengleng please elaborate on how long to keep in indirect light and what care to take
Hello what is your rooting paste called?
Root hormone
@@johnsonengleng is Carnation and sweet William the same? I have trouble germinating from seeds and grow from roots.
You can grow from cuttings
I tried to propagate through Cutting but it was unsuccessful, I didn't apply rooting hormone, is that the reason of not propagating successfully
No thats not the reason.. Might be soil mix,,
