This song makes me cry because it reminds me of my great grandmother. When it appeared on stage 5 amongst all the chaos and scary static and noise it made me cry harder. My great grandmother used this as her wedding song in the 30s and I would sing this to her when I would visit. I miss her so much. You did a great job in this track
@@lilligunner there are actually 7 stages of dementia, but the first one is usually not counted because of how subtle it is. It's the second stage (first one represented by the caretaker) that starts showing sings of dementia and/or memory loss.
@@diggasinparis i argue that would be the 8th stage (which doesn't even exist), but i don't even think it would be that, more like the aftermath of the death since _Take care, it's a desert out there_ does have more to it than the pure static that is stage 6.

I genuinely love how this person can make the most utterly distorted and unrecognizable song, recognizable. Also, here’s a challenge. Try to do R1 - Place in the World Fades Away, the last song in the album.
It’s such a lovely song. The static sounds like rain. In context, it’s such a tragic yet peaceful moment. I’ve always seen it as a moment of peace, the ability to recall a memory making the dementia experience feel like a dream. Like you’re fine, and don’t have the disease anymore. On the other hand, it’s the last moment of pure recall as you desperately cling onto the memory as the static takes its hold. It’s the little flicker of light amongst the darkness, a moment of clarity amongst the horrors of entanglements.
God I love this version of "Was it a dream", even more than the original sample. The slowed version allows for emotional space to bloom in detail. If the static is replaced with the crackles in the first/second stages and the ratio of the song and the static is reversed, then it would be my all time fav song during the 20-30s
Makes it even sadder listening to it knowing what the original song is called and is about. Was It A Dream? Was the dementia a dream? Was the forgetting a dream? Or was she a dream? Where is she? I remember her, but how?

the caretaker apparently started at stage 2 dementia meaning this is stage 6 of dementia
