Metabo HPT Corded or Cordless Multi-Volt 10" Table Saw: Toolsday

  • Finally, the Metabo HPT corded or cordless multivolt 10" table saw!! Probably one of the most highly anticipated tools announced with the multi volt battery line Metabo (formerly Hitachi) and what feels like ages ago now. With the ability to go corded or cordless on any of the multi-volt tools in the line up, a table makes the most sense. Personally I want the flexibility and portability of a cordless table saw, but so many out there want the option for corded! Ever since Dewalt made their 12" mite saw able to go both ways, I think many people out there have wanted that option on a list of tools.
Now remember, this is strictly an unboxing and initial walk around. Yes, Metabo HPT sent this saw out....no they do not ask me to talk about anything specifically in this video....They strictly wanted me to get it on site and let them know feedback. Of course the perk for them is that I share my experiences with you guys so you can make an informed decision. No tool is ever perfect, but it usually takes a little bit of time and use to find the downsides. So stay tuned as I will use this 10" table saw on site and see what I truly think about it. I will say, it had no shortness of power, and I loved the extra capacity on the table top compared to other cordless table saw options.

You do have to spend some time setting the saw up... blade, fence, etc. But once done, the saw is great. Fairly compact which is Nice ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxXh-4_3-ZT1fFWP91ZV7iVqzElr0lEb-a I did get an Incra Miter Gauge which takes some setup as well. The stock miter gauge can be adjusted in the miter slot with a little painter's tape... this tightens up the side to side play a lot.

That corded/cordless option is the greatest thing I’ve ever seen. Being metabo I expected it to be expensive but also expect quality. Durability when bouncing around in a truck or job trailer and use on site is what I care most about. I may buy one of these to add to my fleet.

We're really hoping this Corded/Cordless feature catches on. It's always easier to choose cordless tools when a cord can be used in those rare occasions when your battery runs out early.

Coptool you know it’s actually really easy to make that Milwaukee table saw corded. I made a little ac adapter for all my m18 and m-12 tools. Take the tops off of beat down old Milwaukee batteries and soldier the right dc adapter volts/amps and boom! Your corded!

The plastic piece for the fence is also good for cutting real close to the fence it gives you more room to push the material and it helps from the blade hitting the fence. Looks like a real nice saw 👍🏼

Looks like a nice saw. Dust collection on any table saw is limited if it only has a cabinet mounted dust port. Bigger cabinet saws will sometimes have optional over arm duct attachments that take the chips from the top of the blade. Small contractor saws will never have that. Looks like they thought this one through. Much better than my 15 year old Dewalt. Great video!

That's a well thought out saw, I like all the tool-less attachments. and the size is great too, just because something is cordless doesn't mean it needs to be small. Maybe some inspiration for DEWALT to release a large dual Flexvolt Battery model :)

Just bought one of these Nov 16/23 based on all the good reports. What I missed is the riving knives are a huge reoccurring problem. The one I got, the riving knife did not align with the blade. Was off by at least 2 degrees. I fiddled with it for 90 minutes. I got it aligned using shims. Then I said to myself, WTF, this is a new machine and this is not my problem. Took it back.

Check inside your vacuum, I think you will see that the DC works pretty good. Even on my Industrial SawStop hooked up to a 6" DC pipe with a 5 Hp blower and cyclone I get sawdust off the top of the blade when cutting.
    Looks like a winner!
    Cheers from Tokyo!

I like it. It is very versatile for a quick cut at home or many cuts on the job site. As far as the rough top, you probably can wax it if it is a problem for you, BUT,,, most you are going to buy a job site saw are NOT doing fine wood works with a saw like this anyway. really fine wood working almost specifically requires having a top of the line IN PLACE saw with an out feed about half the length of typical 4x8 sheet goods. It's all about your needs.....

The little plastic fence attachment thing (I believe) is a sacrificial fence that you can use when you have the rare need to rip right up against the blade so that you do not mangle the machined flat fence

  • @JasonTaylor1

i have seen several reviewer talk about it in terms of using it to do small/thin work close to the blade. I thing it has two purposes. One as described for thin work but with the blade guard on. Two, in combination with miter guide to let you set your fence to govern the piece length but by setting this extra guide so the end farthest away from the user is in from of the blade, it prohibits the possibility of a blade bind when using the miter T

I like the soft start feature and it shouldn't be confused with the power of the saw. Unfortunately, the price for this jobsite saw won't win over too many prospective customers.
Would like to see Metabo HPT consider a smaller less expensive version, the size of the Milwaukee unit, that runs off of its 18v battery.

Great saw. Awesome accuracy out of the box. The best quality / price ratio. Light, big table, best you can buy for this money. Original included blade sucks, it’s choking the motor. The miter gauge is a bit loose in the t-track and inaccurate within 1mm/1 degree. Overall 9/10 👏👏👏

The plastic fitting for the fence has been designed so you can butt the material against when cutting to length using the sliding fence. so when the cut is complete it does not kick back. on larger dimension saws you release the fence and slide it back when cutting to length.

I can see where certain instances that would be handy, finish carpentry inside of pre built houses where a little honda generator is just not feasible etc,.….but for a exterior job site tool, doing full duty work its hard to beat a little honda generator and full power tools. or you need to deal with large light/thinner sheet goods it might make it until lunch on a battery...….its size to power/run time ratio seems to make it a specialty tool...…..if it fits a persons needs then it looks great,...as already mentioned, the dual power is a excellent feature so you are never in a power bind.
I did some specialty work for a while doing vanishing screens where I needed a full sized miter saw and table saw, but worked mainly from the truck location as to contain the mess,....I just did a inverter and 2 large batteries making the full size corded equipment battery power. Due to the light usage scenario it worked great, but for framing houses it would have never worked,.....the best useful tool is the one that fits your usage scenario.....time will tell if that one fits a large enough usage scenario. Its a shame they did not squeeze that extra 1/8th for 4X material, makes me think they need a carpenter consultant, because that should have been figured out in about the time of your video in the engineering stage and it would have had they had a carpenter in the development stage.

I think they should have put two battery ports and a separate 120v male plug connection. So any power cord could plug into the saw. Keep the transformer in the saw. Added bonus of charging your batteries at the same time. But they probably didn't want to add the needed space and the extra pound or two.

Would you be able to dig into a universal Fencing system for yours and show us what is out there? Thank you..... KICK BUTT Videos by the way. I wish I had that much time to actually do those too.....

    Kyle.
I have to give this saw a 2 on a rating. I know you did this years ago but I recently had to desperately by a saw and remember that I live in Hawaii
so off to Lowes and bought this. I ran a bosch 4100 for nearly 20 years and it finally had its moment. so I ran the metabo and immediately I knew I
was going to be disappointed, and true to this post I was. Believe it on not the bosch 10X which is the upgrade from the 4100 isn't available in hawaii
so I rebuild my 20 year old saw for roughly 120$ and it runs as if its new.
The metabo gets a 2 on my rating. 1 for the break. Awesome. 2 for the switch on and off I wish that I could get that switch to adapt to my ol trusty 4100.

I like most of all they made it with 35" rip capacity, so many only do 25 or 26" which still makes it hard to rip a piece of plywood at say 28" without an entire table surround or a minimum of 2 people. I don't care for the having to remove the fence and flipping stuff around to put it on top of the table for smaller rips though, at all.
By any chance did they make the electric adaptor 110-220v.
Odd question I know, but what size is the box?

Its very under powered, just keep that in mind. Great for plywood etc, but not ripping

Are you currently using this saw on the job site and how is it performing until now? Can it run all day on one charge

I've ordered two of these both of them turned up damaged with bits broken off. Is there an issue with build quality and durability on these?

Not sure if I missed it in the video but this vs Milwaukee cordless as from a quality/feature/performance standpoint. I know the blade/cord differences

I am in Australia and I had a Metabo table saw for two years and in that time had it in my possession for about three months. The rest of the time it was at the repair centre where they constantly tried to fix it. Eventually I was refunded after going to our Consumer Affairs. Wouldn't touch Metabo with a six foot pole (Aussie saying) after my experience. My Dewalt table saw is great.

To be honest I didn't think that saw had a chance in hell when you pulled out that pressure treated 4x4. My corded DeWalt with a Diablo thin kerf blade has trouble with that.

I didn't think it had a chance on that treated 4x4 either. But I'm sure that battery isn't going to last too long if you have to do a lot of those types of cuts.
Good thing they have the 120AC Adapter, and IMO it was a bad design choice to not allow it to fit larger capacity batteries!
Maybe they just want to make more money by selling you heaps of the 8AH batteries. There is a higher profit margin for them on the smaller capacity batteries.
I think that the smaller 8.25" cordless saws make a lot more sense as a lightweight, portable jobsite saw.
Obviously it is nice to have that larger table/work surface and capacity though.
      I'm on the fence.
I currently use the 10" DeWalt DWE-7491RS jobsite table saw and a Honda EU2000is or EU3000is generator if 120VAC isn't available on site.

Great saw but I for one am gutted that the battery from all my metabo kit wont fit this or anything Hikoki kit also think the fence looks great very like the dewalt one on similar saws

You don’t have to take the fence off to flip the guid over
