Greatest road racer - ever. The most unasuming man you could ever meet. The things he did outwith bike racing is just as impressive. Driving alone from N Ireland to Romania, alone, in winter, eating frozen beans out of a can, so he could deliver parcels to nuns at an orphanage. No fanfare, no publicity, just a need and will to do it.
eariamjh71 very much too soonJoey Dunlop is an icon and a hero for millions.. Yer Maun ... motorcycle road racer diplomat .. and John Britten a genious who went too young.. both Rest In Peace.
I got the same T shirt off John Britten, at the TT in the early 90's. I also bought a very nice Britten enamel badge! I treasure both items as they are irreplaceable.
What a man What a bike what a tribute... Joey is still the top man a true gent a true sports man and so so humble Jesus how we all miss him ...How I wish he had come out the other end and been here to tell us all the stories R.I.P. Joey and all our thoughts go out to those you left behind and I really mean that in a sinsere way I honestly do !!!!!!!!!!!!
New Brighton at it's best. Those were days of freedom where communities were allowed to run events that brought people together. Joey and John, simply magical with a truely iconic kiwi machine.
@mad4tarmac Well perhaps a little through the windows... lol Its bolted to a stand in front of the elevator there on the 2nd or 3rd floor.. Not sure if it still runs or that all the engine internals are still there but its a piece of art all the same. I spent a good 10 minutes looking at all the details while my family looked on bored as hell! haha
@@brittenv1000 yeah i seem to recall the nzgp series was held in two legs- Manfield & ChCh-- damn i had the T-shirt with the full info printed on it..alas gave to my brother in uk many years ago
Vety sad that when Britten died his bike was no more too, that bike should have been developed into a special racing team in reverence to a great designer/man, well ahead of his time, they've all caught up now, but imagine how much further they could be if Britten had the factory backing.
Joey yer man Dunlop son of Ireland legend around the world, what a rider nerves of steel tactical and all out Hero, May you still be riding hard on the racetrack in the sky, God bless you Joey. 😀😃👍
thanx for this great & historic footage-i've just found myself at 1:09 thru 1:13 behind the pit crewmans' left shoulder(taking some photos)----awesome MOTOgeekz love ya!

New Brighton at it's best. Those were days of freedom where communities were allowed to run events that brought people together.

According to a video on John Britten's life and Legacy .. it was all in Order he had a Sponsor and had the money to build a racing team
Was supposed to go into production and. First a 5/600 single, then a big bore as funds permitted. 2b built in India
His small team guys still carried on look after ten or so machines around the world .mr britten was the bike so guess u know
