You just stated that Paula Shugardt is potentially in possession of controlled medications (and potentially illegal drugs) that are not prescribed to her. That would be illegal possession and punishable by law.
Tara Conner's drug problem was after the Miss Universe pageant, and was not suspected to be part of a scheme to be chosen as Miss USA.
R'Bonny's issue is that it is alleged (and pretty obvious) that she participated in activities that benefited her during Miss USA. Very differs situations.
I don't doubt the R'Bonny couldn't have won the title without assistance. Again, not the issue. Frequently favorites don't win. My choice was Miss Nebraska. I felt she was the most impressive candidate during the televised show. Her final Q& A was so much better than any of the others'.

One thing I have noticed is it seems like R’Bonney has been completely on her own since she won. I don’t think she has gotten any of the prizes promised for the winner and I think it’s sad she’s getting the short end of the stick. I feel like Heather is trying to make it more R’Bonneys fault than it is and that’s where I’m kind of getting annoyed. We can NOT act like she wasnt deserving of winning. She DESERVED Miss USA; and now she is going to be at the top at Miss Universe. If it was in the contract that the organization can decide over the judges, this is the end of controversy. So Miss Montana had valid points initially. All the contestants who had concerns voices should be heard. However, after the pending investigation and the preliminary findings, it seems there is a select group of contestants who only want to see R'Bonney dethroned. It seems like misguided effort and angst under the umbrella of 'fairness' because their assumptions were not proven to be true.
Dani, I totally agree. There are some optics regarding the production of the Miss USA pagent that need to be addressed for transparency.
But direct the outrage towards the system, but not the contestants.
I also find it slick that Miss Montana USA seems to elude that the entire class of contestants are upset. When we have only heard from a couple that share her views.
Bottomline, R'Bonney is a fantastic woman, and her strength of character is amazing having to endure this controversy. If there were concrete proof of obvious favoritism, it would have been leaked by now. We should support our Miss USA and hope she will bring home the crown at Miss Universe which we all know she is capable of doing.

First, I want to say. We hear you contestants, thank you for speaking out. 🙌🏼🙏🏼 But at the same time, R’Bonney won fair & square cuz her Q&A just 100% stood out.
Also like you said Dani, at the end of the day, it’s an ENTERTAINMENT show produced for television & streaming. As someone who watches a lot of reality competitions, it’s like, we hear about “riggeries” all the time. Producers hv the liberty to “rig” shows purely based on entertainment value. A little bit of drama does make shows more enjoyable for us viewers. It’s about viewership, it’s about making money. Favoritism or not, it’s about making money at the end of the day. It can not be fun to be on the other end of favoritism tho. Favoritism sucks, the ladies deserve transparency.
I hope these ladies are proud of themselves and know that they are beautiful and did great at the show. Given miss USA was a live show, from we could see, RBonney deserved the title. Saying that her title should be removed if she had breached her contract is premature and legit, a hate crime lol sorry I watch too much campy content. Pre-IMG era, there were always favouritism in Miss USA and Miss Universe. The co-owner had a lot of his personal favourite made it to the finals and the girls was judged by the preliminary judges and members of MUO.
I won’t be surprised if it continues with Crystal’s organisation. Favouritism from the National director couldn’t be influence by the panel of judges in the finals.
Personally, Texas was my front runner for Miss USA 2022. In the finals, She did better in the Q&A which captured the crown.

The problem for me is how the story isn’t being kept straight- first they do essentially say the pageant was rigged (even though they maintain they said favoritism, but to the average person rigging and favoritism are the same, so they’re just arguing semantics which just sounds ridiculous), then when people say to back off R’Bonney, they bring up the other valid issues, but they also endorse articles that use the word “rigged,” then they back off that and focus on the other issues, but when the results are that there was no rigging, they’re arguing semantics. Again, it just feels like they wanted to bring light to the other valid issues but knew the only way to really get attention was to claim rigging, but if they admit that, people will question everything else which they don’t want, so they’ve just created a messy situation for everyone. I also think seeing all the pageant pages promoting R’Bonney because she factually is a top tier pageant contestant has affected their perception of things even though you’d think they’d know by now pages are going to promote someone like her.

I am a retired attorney and the first question if you would retain me is would you really spend money for an attorney to try to negotiate revisions to those provisions before you sign it? Do you honestly think the organization would say oh sure….we agree to that change. My next question is if they felt so much injustice whey didn’t they just hire their own attorney. They seem to be relying on attorneys who don’t represent them. I doubt they would have found any attorney that would even agree with their position. We Americans are generally litigious. Can you tell me why not one single disgruntled contestant filed a lawsuit against the organization for breach of contract or fraud? It’s interesting. Back in 2017 Demi Lee Nel Peters won the South African pageant. There were also whispers among contestants that she was receiving favoritism and they felt it was unfair that she hired herself a pageant coach (weird take but ok😅). If you look at the moment she’s crowned the runner-up is visibly rolling her eyes. She also then went on to win Miss Universe that year which must have felt so great and solidified that she deserved the Miss SA title to begin with.
This is a bit different because Miss SA is not owned by IMG so in the case of R’Boney it might not disprove favoritism by winning Miss Universe, but I bet it still feels amazing.
Also, in the pageant world an organization can choose who they want. It’s that simple. You go for a job interview the workplace can select who they want. I don’t see any grounds for a lawsuit and doing it this publicly just makes you seem petty. We all know some pageants choose their winner based on the brands that are sponsoring the pageant that year as well as current events. You are hiring a model to represent your brand, so obviously you choose one that will best represent the image you want to convey. If that means favoritism then so be it. Miss World chose Miss Poland the year the war in Ukraine started. The first time Miss USA, Miss Universe and Miss USA teen were black happened around the time BLM was huge and IMG was facing backlash for lack of diversity. Honestly the TOP 16 delegates are usually all amazing and any one of them can be a great ambassador for a brand like Miss Universe or Miss USA, so why not choose the one that fits the brand’s plans for the year ahead?
Basically what makes these women think they deserved the title more than R’Boney did?

Also, it was so beautiful for R’bonney to receive so much love and hugs by all of the women in the Miss Universe competition! So all the evil that those USA girls displayed towards Rbonney at the Miss USA competition should feel ashamed of themselves. 🤦🏾‍♀️Even IF the USA competitors felt the competition was not fair, it was WRONG for them to take their frustrations out on Rbonney and not show congratulatory support. The Miss Universe competitors displayed TRUE class, grace, and dignity by showing RBONNEY The love and support that she rightfully deserved. 💕💕💕
Heather is just a “mean girl.” It seems she is directly trying to attack the character of Rbonney by claiming she “broke her contract.” How did she break her contract?! At first, Heather said they were not going after Rbonney, but the more she speaks, the more she tells on herself and reveals her underlying jealousy and hatred/vendetta against Rbonney. Heather never even stood a chance in the USA competition. She was cut from the competition in the first round. So I’m confused why is she even speaking. This investigation is moot as Rbonney is the new Miss Universe and the first runner up in Miss USA organization will now have the USA title.

BUT you have taught me that every word that is written in these forums can cause damage or hurt or destroy. So, my opinions are interesting but not relevant. It would appear that there could be some disappointed contestants still in the class. MUO in my memory would always say at the telecast that the semi-finalists were chosen based on preliminary scores AND input from the MUO organization. I have heard it with my own ears. So, the clause in the contract should not be a surprise which is what I think is an important point. I am going to be very careful how I phrase this - to me this appears like our current US environment if you don't like the outcome of a race or a contest you don't accept the results and you get lawyers involved. Again, my opinion and how it appears to me. I don't want to say that the concerns are not valid, all I am saying is how it appears to me. Finally, I believe with my limited professional experience that R'Bonney has a strong chance at Miss Universe. And on the surface, I would say this timing of information is "UNFORTUNATE" at best. I continue to hope that R'Bonney does well at Miss Universe - I believe you and I had the same Olivia Culpo vibe from R'Bonney. Ok my ask of you Dani - did this come across correctly and politely? The delight and enjoyment that this girl displays on destroying the reputation of an amazing young woman whose outstanding performance and striking beauty not only cautívate the judges and the local and international audience is simple evil. And that’s the reason why this type of girls don’t win. The organization can afford to have a problematic individual as the winner of the title.

What does "problematic" mean? Should the little miss be compliant and submissive and voiceless, just mouthing the organization's platitudes.? How does that square with women's empowerment? I've heard that before: If you don't fit the norm, you're deemed "problematic," and you're eliminated, thus averting potential problems. There was a time when black girls were barred from competing, perhaps because they didn't fit the mold.

It’s really unfortunate that things have escalated to this point. I feel R’bonney performed very well during Miss USA as well as did some other candidates. It did at times appear that there was favoritism towards R’bonney but that may very well have been due to editing of the final broadcast and maybe leading up to it while she competed at Miss Texas. Regardless though, it’s not fair to blame R’bonney for this. She seems somewhat introverted and I can’t imagine her making a concerted scheme to plot to convince so many to favor her over all the other 49 candidates. That just doesn’t make much sense. The judges chose her. R’bonney didn’t select herself. In any regard, despite this annoying, continuous hanger on investigation, I think our Miss USA will be a fierce and very capable competitor at Miss Universe.
Thanks again, Dani for your very thorough video updates on the matter.
I understand that the Philippines are pageant supporters ON STEROIDS compared to most other countries, but R’bonney is AMERICAN and we here in the USA will be rooting for her at Miss Universe just as hard. The bulk of her countrymen are fully behind her rooting her on. She got this, and she will be fierce! Go, Miss USA for the Miss Universe win! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

This may explain why in the past two decades, the powerhouses dominated the list of titleholders. I was never comfortable with the Trump picks. Miss Universe pre 2005 had always relied on a panel of judges independent from the organization. Every contestants’ chance at the semifinals depends on how she performed during the preliminary, not just hand picked because they happened to like her…or her inclusion will increase ratings and viewership, which put the non powerhouse countries at a disadvantage.

I can tell you in all Pageants the organizations hold the right to choose who they like into the semi-finalist.... I am not sure you guys know this but for Miss South Africa 2017 when Demi Lee Nel Peters won.. Did you guys know that Demi was the front runner, the organization knew what they wanted and knew she would bring home the crown. The first runner Adè van Heerden was very advocate in calling out the injustice and even rolled her eyes when Demi was being crowned... Other contestants were talking about how the organization paid more attention to Demi in all her undertakings....Fast forward to Miss Universe Demi won the competition...While it may not be fair, an organization knows the need of their sponsors, something Trump knew very well during his era. Also, the reason Miss Venezuela was very successful during the Trump era. Remember the prior owner if Miss Venezuela mentioned in an interview the girls doesn't have to b e very smart but make a good show girl and right for the sponsors use... P.S. I still preferred the IMG era, it produced smarter winners.

Hi Dani, can you enlighten me as I am rather confused by Montanas rants… first they claim they wanted the investigation focused on favouritism and mistreatment of contestants .. so why is she then saying they want R’Bonney to be investigated for breach of contract which would lead her to not compete at Miss Universe? These are two separate issues - one is connected to actions allegedly committed by Miss USA Org (favouritism and mistreatment) while Montana is also alleging R’bonney also breached her contract which is a separate matter altogether in the eyes of the law … so not sure whether they’re targeting R Bonney herself not just Miss USA .. what did R Bonney actually breach in her contract for her to be dethroned?

Respectfully, by your logic, the entire pageant would be a farce. Why have a judging panel? Anoint a winner - a chosen, hand-picked one. Forget the scoring criteria. We, the organization, know what we want. Who fits our profile. Who will best represent us. This year, we need a Latina. The girls from Latin America always do well. The Filipino girls almost always place, too. Let's get a half-Filipino in there. Maybe, with her American background, she'll beat the full Filipina. Or, black girls seem to be trending, so let's hustle one up in there. I only cite these absurdities to show how ridiculous those propositions are. They come down to biases, personal whims, and even stupidity. It would undermine the entire fabric and integrity of the organization/pageant. That's why the organization can't be involved in surreptitiously "selecting" a winner with any backroom shenanigans.
