And Common has a song called 'Faithful', on the Be album. It didn't bother me then because I wasn't walking with God, but I'm definitely looking at it different now.

A person trying to help you understand that there are some things that you need to turn away from is the furthest thing from hate. It’s love. You correct and warn people that you love. It’s one thing to sin, but when we sin we’re supposed to ask for forgiveness and turn away from it. LIVING IN sin is the issue. If we say we follow God, we have to follow HIS ways and live according to how HE says we need to. The bible says trust in the Lord and lean not on your OWN understanding. When we’re truly living for God, we have to give up our fleshly desires and follow Him. We have to love God more than we do the things of this world. Anything that we aren’t willing to give up for God is an idol in our lives. Please read these scriptures that I reference below. I hope this helps and that you receive clarity from God.
