    Carl…ness.
    Recently awarded “MUSICIAN OF THE YEAR 20/21” for the QLD Prestige awards - Carl Wockner is a straight-up SAVAGE! (the good kind).
    Latest single “Fool’s Gold” is a delicate balance of organic-acoustic POP mixed with singer-songwriter lyricism and honesty, which is exactly what you get when you’re first exposed to Carl Wockner, especially in a live setting.
    Determined to pave his own path in modern music - Wockner uses multi-instrumentalism and dynamic production to take listeners on a journey through multiple genres and sonic excitement, all while telling a story.
    “Recent singles of 2020 END OF ME, PAINT THE AIR, STEREO, CMB have been a collaboration with pop producer Ben Flanders. We added specific ingredients of Pop production with REAL acoustic guitar, hits, taps - vocal trills and voicing. These were all incorporated INTO the beat to give a nice earthy presence, and we even added Kazoo (on Better) just because.. I really feel like we just straight up need more kazoo in our lives!”
    Carl Wockner was named the first and ONLY Australian artist to ever win Top Honors at the International Acoustic Music Award’s 2015 (USA), along with top of the AAA category for the release of his album Crayon Days with producer Michael Flanders in Nashville TN. Wockner has skipped up the charts with his first two single releases receiving high rotation to national radio in both Australia and USA which landed the title track into the International Billboard Charts. The same album has received a 2016 IMA (Independent Music Awards) Finalist nomination for Best Adult Contemporary Album. It was following this recent success that Wockner relocated his family to Nashville TN, USA as a strategic move for his evolving career.
    Sept 2019, Carl was featured for an entire episode of “Backstage Marquee” a syndicate show aired across the USA featuring original artists set to be ‘the next big thing.’
    Sept 2018 Wockner performed LIVE on National USA Television. The show HLN on the CNN Network for the segment “The Weekend Express,” featured Carl’s original songwriting and performance as a showcase taste of Nashville / Music City.
    His rare “Live Looping” style solo performance matched only with his signature vocals and unique acoustic guitar work renders Carl in a league of his own. The live shows have been recognized throughout Australia and USA with multiple headliner performances at festivals and touring, and Wockner is now rumoured as one of the busiest musicians in Nashville, TN - aka “Music City.”
    Since landing in Nashville, Wockner has released two EP’s including a Christmas release with the favoured “Santa Selfie.” Currently his latest single “Better” is noted as the best studio representation of his signature live performance style.
    There’s something about Carl Wockner’s music that simply exudes peace. The peace you feel when you’re humming along to a nostalgic track, or the peace you feel when you just know everything’s going to be ok. However you connect with Carl’s music, you would agree this he is definitely onto something.
    Carl’s first EP, the self-produced, recorded, mixed (all in his lounge room) Acoustic…ness, was released in 2011 to an overwhelmingly positive response. Single “Pictures” received airplay on Hot 91 FM and ZINC FM, the latter of whose DJ’s referred to him as “the man with the big hair and Golden Tonsils.” Carl was also named a finalist in three categories at the 2012 and 2013 MusicOZ awards: Acoustic Singer/Songwriter, Blues and Roots, and Pop.

    Very nice Review dude. Love it. I got the Lava Me 4 Play yesterday. Now im thinking about getting the Spruce... the Play Sounds a bit flat compared to the Spruce but its not that bad and for the Price the Play costs i think it is already not bad at all. Features are all exactly the same except the Wooden Top. Dont know if the Wooden piece on Top of the Guitar is really worth the extra 250 Bucks.... Greetz

    Had a lava 3. LOTS of software glitches, no customer support/service, confounding UI, and hollow sounding. The “carbon fiber” model is carbon fiber composite meaning it’s not just carbon fiber and you can tell that by its weight. After experiencing multiple software issues I repeatedly tried to contact Lave in Hong Kong for help via its email address … never got a reply so I shipped the guitar back. Perhaps the lava 4’s software has improved and that may be enough to buy one but don’t expect support from lava if things go south.

      That sucks mate! Hopefully they’ve stepped up their support since then - tough thing about more tech is there will always be more customer support required. Thanks for the comment tho!

      I've a freeboost hpl model which has a brilliant tone and effects. It's not a touch screen and the main reason is for how cool the touch screen is with all it's options there will eventually be issues with lag combined with updates that don't suit the hardware and the usual. Slowdowns . . I like the simplicity of the three buttons delay reverb & chorus,suits my needs. Regarding support from lava forget it. Seems all they are interested in is sales. They never get back to any of my inquiries weather via their email address or via social media. This will eventually be their undoing.

    I’ve read the Lava Me 4 comes with a lot of problems, requiring a lot of customer service dependency. Has this been your experience? I also read it doesn’t work without an internet connection and requires the player to “log into” the guitar with a username and password… is this true? If so, is it possible to get the functionality from the guitar without giving up personal information and passwords?

    Thank you. One thing that worries me although a fantastic guitar,, is the battery, what if it goes flat and needs replacing, can it be done?.

    • @carlwockner
      @carlwockner  3 місяці тому

      Yeh that’s tough, I assume you can buy them through Lava, but I’m not sure how long they last being built in.

    So I’m still a beginner. I struggle with finding time to play. I’ve wanted a guitar to essentially keep in my car so the carbon model intrigued me some. I don’t want it to live in there but if I’m traveling on a camping trip or something I feel like this may be a good option.
    With me being a beginner is there another way to essentially get the same sort of functionality in a traditional package. Just curious what my options are.

      @carlwockner  7 місяців тому

      Yessir, there are a few non-smart carbon fiber guitars to check out. Also if it’s mostly just practice you can get some fold up versions of travel guitars that are pretty in-expensive🤙🏼

    Hmm. Every professional review raves about this thing, but most of the comments from people who have actually bought the thing all complain.😕. Amazing idea for a guitar though, you can't deny it.

    Hi, I am a beginner and I simply do not know what guitar to buy? I found over internet some of the guitars I would like:
    - Lava Me 4 Spruce
    - Lava Me pro
    - Enya Nexg 2
    - Enya X4 Pro
    From your experience, which one could be better for me? I would like to add that I want to use the guitar mostly with headphones …I do not want my neighbours to hear me :-)
    Thank you!

    • @carlwockner
      @carlwockner  6 місяців тому

      hi, any of these guitars would work fine however if you want the quietest option the Enya nexg2 is the only guitar without a resonant body so it will be much quieter than the others. However none of these guitars are LOUD unless you plug them in and turn them up.

  • @randalledwards1050
    @randalledwards1050 5 місяців тому

    Was this review the 41 inch or the 36? I'm wondering if there's a difference in that deep tone with the 41, the body seems to be a little wider.

    • @carlwockner
      @carlwockner  5 місяців тому

      This is the 36. The plugged in sound will be almost identical but you’d notice a larger sound on the room with the 41

      @@carlwockner thanks. I have the old Pro model and love it. I’ve been waiting for them to release another 41 so I bought it a few days ago. I do solo shows with it regularly coming out of a TC Helicon Voice Live and it has a guitar resonance filter that gives it a really great low end sound

    I bought the lava 2 and not a fan, I am still fighting to return it, the picks don't make any difference, no difference on or off. The basic enya was better and I returned that one because it was way too small but sound better than the lava one

    I don’t understand why all the youtuber don’t talk about the playability of this gear. i have the spruce in 41 and for me the playability is the most problem of this product.This guitar can hardly be adjusted, despite the truss rod you can't get a good string action, which unfortunately makes the product not really comfortable. i am not a beginner and have different guitars, this one is really hard to play. The sound is really ok, but not more. And what use are the most beautiful delays if they don't adapt to the speed of the song. That makes no sense. For me the developing is not at the end, this concept needs a lot of upgrades and better handling possibilities. Cause price isn’t that low. i will have to return it, even though i like the innovative concept of lave.

    • @kellog9876

    Poor service could be a language issue. A Chinese company might spend the money initially such that their marketing materials, manual, digital display, etc, is accurately translated into English. That will give the impression to English-speaking customers that communication with the company is possible. But, the day to day Hong Kong staffers are not necessarily fluent in English...meaning that your emails may be "Greek" to them, to coin a phrase. Sadly, as someone else commented, that will eventually be the death of the firm..

    These are cheaply made. The software isn't necessary in todays day & age. I rather have a quality $1,000 - $2,000 USD guitar + Line 6 Helix. The Helix has amps, cabs, mic placement, effects (that sound better than Lava), etc. Helix doesn't have drums but an MPC or MC707 or Beat Buddy can help with that.
