- This is just a quick walk around of my 1971 Toyota FJ40. My grandfather bought this in 1972 or 1973. I learned to drive in this Land Cruiser. There has been a LOT of blood, sweat and tears associated with this. Because of that, it is my pride and joy. I hope you enjoy the video.
Once again, I'd like to thank Rustmine for allowing me to use their music in my video. Check them out at rustmine.com/
very refreshing to see an honest build that isn't "money is no object!"
You have an amazing FJ40, thank you for sharing your build. I will never stop searching for one of my own someday, the problem with living in the north east is the salt. Most back yard finds are rotted very badly. Maybe one day we will stumble into one. Cheers
Congratulations , I also have a blue one with a white top. Here in Brazil it is called "'Bandeirante" and it comes with a 3.8 diesel engine.
Love my 1970 FJ Restoration on going now for a handsome look.
FJ 40 s are indestructible ! just posted vid on my cousin's '71 cruiser driving around the ranch in Del Rio , TX
Your grandpa had excellent taste in vehicles
What a great car....ii would like to have one.,
one of the best 4 wd ever been built....greatings from germany...
Pretty cool rig. Thanks for sharing!!
Nice off road ride! It has a great family history. Mine's a '77 FJ40 with only minor suspension improvements and a header system to get the exhaust pipe above the frame rail. Owned since 1983.
Very cool FJ. Thanks for the walk around.
As an Authentic ridgy didge Aussie I approve of this vehichle and dog.
Nice Cruiser. I also have a 71 and looks like we live in the same part of the country. I swapped a 92 tbi 350 into mine with a SM465 mated to the original t-case.
WOW She is beautiful. Great job. I had a chance to buy one when I was 16 for $6000. Nothing worked on her but the body was perfect. The back windows are etched in my mind. The guy selling her smartened up and decided to keep her. Beautiful baby keep taking great care of her.
Outstanding LC! Respect to owner from Ukraine!
Wow nice
Thanks for sharing. Nice fj! I have a 72 fj40 also.
Hey I don't know if you remember me but a couple years ago I pulled up to where you work in my step dads Tesla because we saw this rig parked outside. I'm 19 now, still daily driving my 1973 fj40 in the same color!! So crazy I found this video lol. I knew it was you because the thumbnail Pic is all over ih8mud
Yep, I remember! I think at that time you needed a flasher relay or something like that for your 40. Small world!
Love it
One of the best Toyota ever
So f'in awesome! I love this Cruiser!
GR8 rig , looks very solid!!!
Nice truck 👍
Good job👍🏻
Love my ‘76.
Beauty. A also have a 71.
Sweet!
Really great car....
Great video. Subbed.
I noticed that you are in Washington state I’m in Wenatchee WA as well
nice video...
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Capri blue is a beautiful color. I painted my 71 FJ40 Espresso Pearl. Good call on the period winch. I have the PTO winch.
❤️
Good history. My '74 fj40 was purchased by my father in 1975. I'm in Enumclaw,WA. Check my page for a quick walk around.
Nice build,
How is that steering treating you, I’m looking at doing a PS conversion soon
If you have larger than stock tires, power steering is definitely worth it. I wheeled a couple of years with 33x12.50s with manual steering, and it beats you up.
Hey, where are u at I'm also in Washington
change engine for 3UZ or 2UZ
What size are those wheels and where did you get them?
They are stock wheels that were widened back in the 70s. They are 15x9.
@@aussiedoggarage5779 Whaaaat? Who the hell does that? They look great, Not going that far on mine.
Thank you for responding. Summit has a wheel that is 15x10.5 but I wanted to be able to put the hub caps on but they don't have those prongs.
I am working on my cousin's 1970 FJ40 with 13 thousand original miles on it. Can someone recommended the best forum for these? Thanks
Check out the 40 series forum on Ih8mud. It's a great community with a wealth of info. forum.ih8mud.com
I don't know which I would rather have. An FJ40 or a Kelpie. I have a two year old Texas Heeler and a new Tacoma. Probably as close as I will get.
Australian kelpies are great, but they are definitely high energy! Heelers are great dogs too!
@@aussiedoggarage5779 do you know anyone who has puppies?
@@eloiseharbeson2483 Unfortunately, no. We got our two kelpies from friends in Australia and had them shipped over.
@@aussiedoggarage5779 yep! They're pretty rare over here. Kind of a shame. The only complaint that I have ever had about my Heeler is that she's got too much white on her for my taste. Black and tan is the "right" color IMO. Even with as many Heelers as there are in Florida, sourcing decent puppies is not easy.
Beautiful put BMW seats than it’s all done
She's a beautiful machine, I owned the E70 fj40 vacuum transfer case, poor design

Rear pinion angle looked way out of alignment I think. It’s bad for u joints and will cause vibration
Pinion is perfect. Been running it this way for years and no vibrations. Thanks for watching!

Everything was just fine, until I saw a Tahoe engine…
LS.chevy engine is a blasfemy......oh well if you go to hell your FJ will get you back home...
I noticed the Diamond 770 on the rear. Looking at a red 71 FJ40 that's been sitting for quite awhile near here. de N0MTN
Nice! KG7EWU
