I met Vaughn at Nov 2015 SEMA show, cool guy, I hope the new Mustang does well for him. Amazing to see both front wheels off the ground in this video, spectacular!
I don't get it. How do you "win" at this? Is it first across the line or is it up to some arbitrary judges to put you in first place because you smoked your tires more than the other guy. What happens if the two people crash and put each other out? Do you have to beat the other guy to the finish line of a lap or so many laps or again, is it just a judged contest?
+Miatacrosser Formula Drift is a sport based off of judging. There are three judges, who can pick driver A, driver B, or a "One More Time", which is where the drivers have to do the run one more time. The judges judge the run off of skill, angle (how sideways you can go without losing control), smoke, and for the guy in the back (each run goes two times, they switch who leads and follows) they judge on how close you can stay to the lead driver and how well you can mimic the lead driver. The sport is also run on a bracket system, kind of like basketball is. One driver is kicked out on each run. They have to qualify, the judges give them a score and that will tell them who they compete against in the Top 32 (only 32 drivers with the highest scores can make it into the bracket), and then the Top 16, Great 8, Final 4 (Semifinals), and then the finals with the last two drivers. There is an art to being able to drift as good as these drivers do, coming in off of the straightaway at upwards of 110 MPH and then slamming the handbrake into a full 90 degree or more turn without losing control or traction of the car, that takes talent, and Vaughn Gittin Jr. has some mad talent.
His car sounds so freaking amazing! let's hope he wins world champion again!

Hmmm seems the best thing to do is get ahead of the other guy and create a cloud of tire smoke so they can't see.

Doesn't matter the type of race today if they are racing whit a Ford car it feels like cheating.. ford line up is crazy.
