You must have went for the autumn/fall tea. We had exactly what you did. We went today-November 23, 2024. We had a great time. The food and tea were good. Everyone was friendly. We picked the Texas Sweet Dreams and Rose Vanilla tea. I had to pick Texas being from Texas! Thanks for posting on You Tube so I could find it.
When I lived in Dallas briefly it seems everyone I met made certain to express their disdain for Fort Worth, yet everyone I ever met from Fort Worth was more charming and had better manners and never mentioned Dallas or any other city or spoke of any topic negatively. I am looking forward to watching this.
How odd! My experience is the total opposite. Everyone loves Fort Worth, but everyone from Fort Worth seems to have a chip on their shoulder and quickly announces that 1. they could never live in Dallas or 2. Dallas people are such snobs.
It looked very nice, but I’d rather have afternoon tea at your house! If you’re ever in Albuquerque, NM, I would very much recommend the “St. James Tearoom.” It’s excellent. Don’t forget to make a reservation!
I am a Texan but living a bit northeast right now. I used to work in Fort Worth and enjoy it very much. However, after this video, I would not go to the Ashton for tea. Thank you for the video. Enjoy your channel.
Next time you plan a trip to FW, please make a reservation and go to Tea at the Kimbell art museum! My partner and I go there often. Excellent environment and usually a great tea. I have had one or two “meh” days but overall it’s been wonderful.
First, I’d like to say I love you friends shirt. I also have never been to Texas, someday I would like to visit. The food looked wonderful. I think I would like to try tea there someday. I was sorry to hear some of the food wasn’t your favorite. But I think you’re right and afternoon tea should have finger food. I think the afternoon tea was what I would think I would find in Texas. It’s big, it’s beautiful, and it looks like a lot of fun.. Thank you for taking us along to this afternoon tea Texas style. Ha ha ha.
Clotted cream and devonshire cream are great! Lemon curd is good on top of the cream, on a scone. I'd like some good old English traditional tea party items.
I just came across your channel. Love it. I subscribed for sure. I am planning on doing a tea party at work (lunch time). for my department. Just tea time but now that I found your channel it may change to a more wonderful experience. Thank you for sharing your tea time with us ❤️
I think I'd much prefer to go to Sonia's Traditional Afternoon Tea House than the Ashton Hotel. Sonia knows what an afternoon tea should be and they don't. I always worry when I see staff wearing gloves. I wonder if they've washed their hands? Oh, those prices and a 26% tip?! 😲 I just looked at the prices for afternoon teas where I live. For £30 you can get three types of tea, including Earl Grey, smoked salmon , roast ham, cucumber, chicken or smoked cheddar sandwiches. Pork and truffle sausage roll. Home baked scones, plain and fruit with clotted cream, (the real thing). Pumpkin spice choux bun, blackberry frangipani tart, dark chocolate brownie, dark chocolate ganache. Apple pie macaron. That's with champagne. £26 without. All this in a 13th century friary. They also do cookery courses. You could also have afternoon tea in a Georgian house where such notables as Rudyard Kipling and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle stayed or dined at. The price for a four course afternoon tea there is £22.50. They have a choice of twenty one different kinds of tea to go with your scones, sandwiches, savouries and patisseries. A discretionary 10% tip is added to the bill. So if you want a proper afternoon tea Sonia, you should come to Newcastle the next time you're over in England. ☕🥪🍰 😁
You can valet park if you want to but the is very nice parking garage across the street from Bass Hall that is free most of the time. About a five minute walk to the Ashton.
Hello again Sonia 😊 Firstly, what a lovely gift from your ATF. Having just left a scathing comment about Neimans Afternoon tea, here I go again... Scary food in the afternoon, should be the title of that experience! Nothing related to our British tradition as you rightly said. You were very brave to forge ahead, especially as they didnt have any proper TEA! Oh goodness...The Ashton cant afford matching china or to polish their silver plate? Black plastic gloves ???? I could barely watch but also couldn't look away. I simply had to subscribe. 😂 Kind regards British Kate in N.Texas.
I would absolutely go if ever in the area. Having never been to Texas, this is exactly what I would imagine Afternoon Tea in Texas to look like....larger than life with big portions. It's obviously not traditional, but it all looked good to me!
Miss Afternoon Tea at the Carlyle Hotel in NYC. If you ever find yourself in NYC- Treat yourself to the Afternoon Tea at the Carlyle. It is not only delicious but quite an experience back in time. This was nice for a truly different experience. I did enjoy the original concept! Thank you for your very honest review!🙏🏻🐾🩷🇺🇸🥂
I assume 'Texas fashion' says it all. Had that been advertised as 'English afternoon tea' could have been described a disgrace. Tea and brown sugar? No breakfast tea?
I think they were trying a bit too hard there weren’t they? I suppose if they didn’t advertise it as “traditional afternoon tea” then it’s open season to be creative. I went for tea with my mum recently in my home town of Sheffield (England) and the hotel added a little regional twist in the form of miniature pork pies and sausage rolls with some local pickles but the rest was very traditional. There looked to be an awful lot of food there for two people too!
I think you yourself are elegant. You are very kind and measured with your assessments, even if they're not the highest. I would much prefer 3 different servings that were fabulous, over the 6 that were just nice. I wouldn't mind one item that was non-traditional, but I wouldn't want so many as it seemed you had that day. Just one lovely non-traditional traditional item might just add a little something fun to make the event stand out. But nothing more than one I would say. As always, a lovely and enjoyable video. Thank you.

Oh I am a fan of Fort Worth! ☺
Dallasites can be snobs. I don’t know why. I’ve lived in Dallas and Ft Worth and I loved both. Ft Worth is friendlier.
I love tearooms.

Me, too!

it seems this is more of a little bites or Tapas - than afternoon tea. :-) I appreciate the reviews.
I really enjoy the afternoon tea at the Kimball Art Museum in Fort Worth and it's available during the week. My friends and I go several times a year.
Yes, I have heard good things. It's on my list!

That is on my list! I adore the Kimbell anyway, and look forward to having their tea - hopefully in the not too distant future!
I love the Kimbell Museum. It’s my favorite. I’ll have to have tea there. I love Ft worth. The people are so friendly.

I agree that it seemed very awkward. And that simplicity is best. Thank you for your honesty.

Thanks for the video. I plan on taking my daughter here soon. She will love it.
Not a Tamale for Afternoon Tea! I know we are in Texas, but no! As a Mexican-American I disapprove! 😆
@@CuriousandCultured yes, it was quite a surprise! 😉✨
Tamale with a cup of tea?.....well only in America.

I think the crowd was too noisy. I'm good with the tamale, but zero finger sandwiches? Much too heavy a meal.
Yes, the tables were close, and we were sitting very near a couple of large groups that were having a very good time! LOL

You have zero accent. Born somewhere, elese. My grama never lost her accent. Many Texans are probably from California.
