      I’d rip it out & go LS
      Then again...
      Same reason my dad got rid
      of his Ford Model-A😗
      Me:
      “Dad!
      KNOW HOW MUCH IT’D BE WORTH
      IF I TUBBED IT & DROPPED IN
      -A 427?”😃
      Dad:🥺
      Car disappeared 1yr later
      Dad never said where😑

    I've never been a muscle car fan of the era. Actually, I have more than my share of all the Chevelles, Cudas, big blocks cars. Great for straight line "drag races".
    But this one is special, built to handle a course. Bravo !
    I autocrossed a few times in my life. This gentleman is right: you learn very quickly your limits and the limits of your car. You improve some parts of your car, race it, upgrade your skills, upgrade the car, race it... it goes on and on. So much fun !

    I need to now research this new term autocrossing, but since you mentioned racing your old 65, back in the early 70's while at Belmont High in LA in autoshop we motified our Chevy or Ford's for either street racing or cruising, although I was crazy I modified my Metropolitan Nash Rambler, and race it; Venice Blvd and the brand new Santa Monica freeway where the ideal spots. Whittier Blvd was strictly for cruising.

    • @rcairforceone
      @rcairforceone 5 років тому +1

      Pick up a Grassroots Racing magazine. Autocross is about racing the clock on a short circuit. You have to master you machine to be competitive. SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) is a good place to start to find events and information.

    • @MrGaryGG48
      @MrGaryGG48 5 років тому

      Pedro, you just made me laugh, not at you but at a crazy old memory. I graduated from high school in Petaluma, California, in 1967. There was a kid in our school who also had a Metropolitan Nash Rambler. I don't know how "crazy" your car was but this guy was waaaay out there! He pulled the original (I think is was a 4 cylinder but I'm no sure) motor and crammed a 426 Chrysler Hemi in that thing. It sat at about a 15 degree rake with what we would now call "35 tires" on a jacked up 4X4. The rear bumper was about 2 1/2 to 3 feet off the ground. No one would ride with him but we got a kick out of watching him tromp on the throttle and bring the car up to level. He had a hell of a time keeping it straight but you can imagine what the power-to-weight ratio must have been!!
      Just about the time you think you've seen them all... some loon wanders around the corner and you have to admit, they aren't done yet!!!! ;^)

      @@arlok5966 thanks for responding. Would you recommend keeping the 283 and rebuild it with some upgrades so I can make it fast and sound like yours it needs a lot of work but I would like it to keep it the most original I could. A 78 year old Vietnam veteran gave it to me as a gift so I wanna fix it and put his name on it.
