  • Day One of our family (+ Papa Gary) vacation is a 24-hour drive from our house in Wyoming to Papa Doug's house in California. We had a couple of detours along the way - and a few mishaps - but we made it in good time and in relatively good spirits!

    "there is nothing sexier than a man sacrificing himself for his family" ~Andrea Mills. AMEN SISTER!
    Ok, I have to admit, I lost it with uncontrolable tears as you talked about reminiscing with your dad through the night as he drove. There is something so sacret about late night heart to hearts. It will be that memory that will carry with you forever. I lost m dad over 10 years ago, I am a bit envious to have such an intense trip with your dad.

      My mom died 6 years ago and she and I did everything together. Losing a parent - no matter how old you are! - changes your life forever. Tom was only 10 when his dad died. He can barely remember him. It's sad.

    Tremendously strong words spoken by Andrea beginning at timestamp 9:15.. I didn't "know" her then, but it's moments like these, times like this, that show just how amazing of a person she was... and how lucky we all are that she had this channel and shared her life with us. I've learned so much from her the past 2 months. I love that her family has these videos to look back on... to see her face and hear her voice, especially honest, raw moments like this where her love for them is pouring through. It's bittersweet.

    Watching this for the second time and what Andrea had to say about you, Tom, was so endearing. She loved you and appreciated you and knew how lucky she was to have you. I know you are making her proud.

    When I started watching your videos (the one with the boys' room), I was highly skeptical and kind of judgemental about your way of life. But after a lot of videos, I have come to respect you. You are doing a really great job bringing up all of them! We were just two kids and still in every road trip one of us would get cranky! You all make such a happy family it just makes me happy to watch you people.. And when I realised that Thomas actually wanted to continue the matching colours tradition even into his teenage years, I knew you'd done something very very right! Keep making these vidoes and giving is sneak peaks into your life.. :)

    Watching this video makes me love this family even more. Andrea was truly a Super Woman. Such a calm, quiet lady that was a blessed leader of her her children. I love Papa Gary! Wish we could see more of him now! It was obvious while Andrea was alive just how big a part of their lives he was! We need to see more PaPa Gary.

    I don't know how you find the time to stay organized, raise 8 well-behaved children, teach them, and then....film and edit these fantastic videos! It's incredible! I hope that you continue to grow your subscriber base, not only so you can spread your positivity over what I consider to be a generally "negative" website, but also because you certainly deserve a nice chunk of google ad revenue each month for all of your hard work; hopefully it will enable you to take more of these family vacations in the future. :)

      +Andrea Mills we stayed in Lake Elsinore 2 days when we moved here. it was our first stop in California. we visited friends from college. that was our first In n Out stop in California! there's some dairy there that is well known for their creamy chocolate milk. it's by the lake. I don't remember the name if it. it was delicious!

      We had planned to stay the night in Salt Lake City, but when Dad decided to come with us he and Tom figured we could do an all-nighter. I wasn't much help; I only drove about an hour and a half. We still have our rooms reserved for the trip home- just in case.

    • @TheMillsFamilyVlog
      @TheMillsFamilyVlog  5 років тому +1

      It is just a regular TV mount, the trick is just finding a good spot to attach it to the frame of the van. We pulled back some of the plastic panels, drilled a hold and found a lag bolt that fit nice. It works great!

    Have you guys ever thought of investing in a nice RV for long trips? It would really pay off not having to get hotel rooms and such and would be much more comfortable to eating/resting/etc

    • @drxl34
      @drxl34 7 років тому

      if they only travel once a year RV wouldn't really be worth it.. i have one and it's a lot of maintenance. We keep it on our second property and we have to have the AC running on it often so it doesn't get fried in the Florida sun. If we didnt have a second property we would have to store it for a hundred bucks minimum a month.

When we did our 3 month road trip, we stopped at many smaller attractions like the dinosaur museum, which are not marked in larger travel guides.

I know I wouldn't be putting a snack, especially unwrapped fruit, on the grass. More people are too lazy to take the dog to the dog potty.

    Hi I'm new to ur channel. i found ur channel by watching one of ur videos about how to make room for 6 boys

      Hi LoveyDovey9000, We have 8 children. Thomas (14), Asher (12), Judah (11), Justus (9), Eden (6), Solomon (4), Sophia (2) and Claudia (1). Our kids aren't that into social media although Thomas talks to a few of his friends on something. (I'm not even sure what he uses!) We don't watch cable because we haven't had it pretty much since Thomas was born. UA-cam is our tv. We like to watch movies, too.

    Where did you get all your children's name, I'd love to see a video on how you named them, you're family is adorable :) And where is Papa Gary staying?

    • @TheMillsFamilyVlog
      @TheMillsFamilyVlog  8 років тому +1

      All of the kids have Bible names. That's the very short answer. I like your idea of making a video fully sharing about each one, though. Papa Gary is staying here at the same house. I didn't show all of it, but Papa Doug and Donna have a large master suite by our rooms upstairs and there's another bedroom and bathroom on the first floor where Dad is staying.

    If you ever had anymore children would you record the birth or at least the laboring part ? You seem like a very calm woman & I would love to see how you handle labor. I had 2 children all natural, no pitocin, no epidural & it was exhausting!

      Andrea Mills I understand. I was that way, but couldn't get myself to record it. I took plenty of pictures though. Also, the way you all match clothes is amazing. It must be easier to organize everyone's clothes!

      She originally started it so that she could scrapbook easier but then it turned out to be something very convenient. She made a video all about it. She said once her kids get into their teen years and they start to want to dress differently then the family they are completely allowed to. I think in the video she said even her oldest son, who has the option to dress how he likes, still chooses to dress with the family because he likes to.

      It's a sad state that most people always "assume" that the children don't have the freedom to choose what they want to wear, vs considering even for a minute...that the children are given a choice (at a certain age) and they choose to continue to dress the same colour as their siblings.

      I don't know. Why do some guys wear their pants hanging down to their knees? I guess it's how they like it.
