  • In this video I will try to change my chain and sprockets. If you have been following my channel, in my previous trip to Galway the bike started to make a really strange noise and it turned out to be the front sprocket.
    | will have a go and see how difficult it is!

Thanks for the vid. The plate that holds the sprocket is broken so I'm going to install a new one

I have the superpinion front sprocket on mine, super bit of well thought out engineering.

Me, with the help of my friend just did all of this to same Transalp. Took 4 hours, but we took our time figuring things out (having beer meanwhile). I totally smashed the pins on chain and bent the riveting tool, not the pin that pushes into the pin of master link but the tool itself. It took us two huge wrenches to get pin head to smash just a bit. Looks like messy horror but link is not too tight, just the riveting is not beautiful. Minus the tool, but it was a cheap garbage. We followed your video but the problem was, we were not sure how does one tension the chain. Got that sorted out eventually but in the process riveting tool is going to the bin and rivets on master link are not beautiful. I did not have problems removing screws of rear sprocket. Also, we removed the chain and then tried to unbolt front sprocket, that was stupid. We put the chain back and blocked rear sprocket to get bolts out. But all is well that ends well (final damage costs below 50Eur).

Hey sorry to hear you that. I guess first time doing anything is bound to have some misshapen. The pins are much easier to extract if you simply grind the head of them. Glad that at the end all went well. Great job nevertheless. Even though you lost 50 from the tool I bet you would have spent much more if you had a garage doing that for you. Next time will be easier. All the best!

@@44degreesmotorcycleadventures Yeah, I grinded down pin exactly as you showed and it came out easy. As I stated before, I actually follow your instructions word by word, since there is no other content anywhere on YT but yours working on Transalp 700. These bikes are not as common as one might think. The problem was the mushrooming, I do not know how it's in English. When you make pin extruding end larger so it stays in place. My next task is to install K&N air filter, but I'm not looking forward removing those darn front fairings.

@@lauraiss1027 ah I see. Your tool should had have a pin to extract and one to flatten the head. They are bit different. The one that flattens has a hole at the top. Anyway mind those fairings as they are a bit trick to come out. Watch one my latest videos where I show how they are attached to the bike. Also if you are doing the filter I recommend doing the plugs too as you will need to remove it again later one if you decide to change the plugs. Good luck and let me know how you get on.
