In this two part tip, Kyle and Kelly from Cruiser Customizing show you the installation of a Baron Custom Accessories Big Air Kit (BAK). This kit includes a complete jet kit as well as an external air kit.
This week Kelly and Kyle will remove the tank, and give you a step by step installation of a typical jet kit. The Vstar is a bit more involved than most carburated metric cruisers as it has two carburators instead of one. For most carburated metric crusers there will be only one carb to re-jet. This being said, this jet kit installation is virtually the same for most all carburated motorcycles.
Next week, you will see Kelly and Kyle install the Baron Custom Accessories BAK.
Thank you for watching this Cruiser Customizing Tip of the Week.
Until Next Week

ran great with my V&H short shots and LA choppers big air kit.
Awesome video. It helped me a ton. Thanks!!!
hahaha...ironic that just before she says that, she says, "it's okay to just let your choke-knob rest" LOL
Why not spend just 5minutes more and remont whole carb and do it on the table top?
Nice video 👍
U make it look easy!
When you screw that white plastic piece back onto the top of the needle, be careful. When i tried to do it it kept trying to crossthread using a screwdriver. I put that plastic piece inside of a 13mm socket and it screwed on no problem.
Yea one of mine crossed o just screwed it all the way in.... No problems yet fuck
My 2004 Road Star 1700 carb sits differently than the 650 on your video. Will I have to remove the carb to get to the jets?
Where can i buy stage 3 jet kit for my 2011 yamaha vstar 650
I bought the same kit for my same bike. The jets came labeled 100, 115, and 130. I was told 122 to 125 was optimal. I used 130 and it's running rough when I gas it in any gear down the road and won't pick up speed. It revs fine in neutral. Did I use the wrong size?
Hello,
I would like to know if they have a video with the carburacion kit of the V-Star 1100 classic.
Thank you very much.
I've already done this myself when I got my cruzer pipes. If I get an air box do I have to rejet again? thanks!
both carbs are done the same exact way? Does the kit come with two ofeverything?
With rejeting it will not be more hot ? Is posbile to rejet the bike but have pipes with silancer ?
Thanks to this video I rejetted my '06 Vstar 650 Custom this past Veteran's Day! Can you review some of the tuning steps? I think I may be a little rich in my fuel mixture.
pqhouston they never spoke of adjusting fuel air mixture
I'm doing my 02 right now. Close a/f screws on both carbs, then open 3 full turns counter clockwise one each. Start it up and start it see how it runs. Then (with the bike off do half turns or quarter turns depending on how close it is to running 👌.
I did all that stuff but my slides do not slide freely!!! help spring is very close
CAN YOU SHOW HOW TO BRAKE DOWN FRONT FORKS AND REPACK BEARINGS
How can i find part 2
How do we find jet kit?
What would you replace the stock jets to when running straight pipe and stock air cleaner
I was trying to figure out same thing. Think it has to be put on a dyno and tuned/tested
How much more gas does this mod suck up?
I have already done a re-jet on my bike when I added on aftermarket exhaust. Do I have to do another re-jet when I go to add on an air kit?
Depends on the Intake you're looking at. I have a cutout on the stock airbox and I removed the restrictions inside the housing so it now acts like an arlen ness big sucker. I used 115 main jets and tuned idle screw 3 1/2 turns. Has good low end torque. Smooth through mid and screams healthy at high rpm.
i have a 650.and i removed the carbs to clean.put them back on.it starts great idols great.but as soon as i give it gas it dies.
i think i might of got throtle cabels setting off...guesing!
if this is the problem.
how do i readjust them???? thank you!
I have same problem with my bike, please let me know if you find the solution, i replaced gaskets recently. It is as if there is not enough supply of gas coming to carburetor, starts ok but dies immediately if you accelerate.
That little horseshoe clamp on the needle has to start from the top counting all the way down to the number 4th cuts
Can I get the info for the jet kit?? Pls
i have a 2000 vstar 650. i put cobra drag pipes and removed the baffels. backfires on deceleration do. will rejetting stop the backfire?
+Shaun Cahoon It should help, the bike fire is likely caused by a lean condition due to the less restrictive pipes.
+Shaun Cahoon Backfire can be very common on Vstars because of the stock AIS system. If it really bothers you can you delete it. It can be done very very cheaply. Otherwise yes a lean condition or possibly even a exhaust leak will do it.

The jet kit should help a bit, but you may always have a little backfire with little to no back pressure.
what year was that 650 i see you removed an 8mm large round main jet and replaced it with a 6mm small round jet did early 650 use the 8mm and they switched to 6mm in later years, on mikuni jets the dimensions on small round and large round are identical except head diameter, same length, head thickness and thread pitch, they must be interchangeable because you guys put a small head where a big head was removed
You can big or small round. I had small originally on my v star. Bought jets online didnt realize I ordered big round jets and did the install anyways. Bikes runs strong

So if I put on Roadburner aftermarket exhaust pipes does this mean I'm gonna have to re-jet my carbs?!
wow a chick that works oh bikes thats super cute. I'm in love. ;0)
I have to reject my bike if I install a hypercharger ????
yes
Here is part 2: just sap this code out for a video being watched ...
