Thank you Katie ❤ I'm a 1st yr homeschool mom of 5 (1 is special needs and my youngest has downs syndrome) I've beening praying and asking God for some guidance with homeschooling, cleaning and do all the mom stuff. I was feeling like I wasn't doing enough and I need to do this and that, trying to make sure I'm covering all the school subjects & extras. Praise God for putting on your heart to sharing your "donts". today. I feel like a burden has been lifted. Thank you for all the encouragement you have given me over the last 6 months 🙂
Thank you for sharing this!! As a single mama of 2 autistic boys, I am often judged by others for the things that we DON’T do, and for things that I don’t want to commit to. It’s so encouraging to hear you say that you don’t have your kids in a bunch of extracurricular activities. Now if I can just get my boys to help more with the chores, lol! 😄 I love your videos!
Thank you so much for this! I have been under so much pressure regarding what I should be doing or what I'm not doing enough with homeschooling. Some days are so discouraging but I see the progress and benefits often enough to keep pushing and remain patient. Videos like this remind me that I am not alone and the energy I give daily is enough. It also reminds me that I don't need to do all the things in the world. Sometimes less is more and as you said, "there is a season for everything." Thanks again ;)
There are definitely some "deep cleaning" items that just don't bother me most of the time--for me, priorities that I'm always on top of are floors, dishes, bathrooms, cooking, and laundry. Those are what matters most to ME stay on top of. Cleaning fans? Well...we cleaned them when we moved into this house and haven't cleaned them since. We'll do it again sometime, maybe on Angel's spring break, but the fans run constantly, so I rarely even see them.
I love your videos! They give me so much inspiration. I love that you talk fast - I'm a fast talker, too. Seriously, the talking fast and getting straight to the point helps me have the time to watch your videos without feeling too guilty for ignoring my kids for 10-15 minutes. Excellent content in half the time! Thank you!! 💛💛💛
I wake up at different times as well!!! My youngest does screen learning at the moment!!! We clean as a team, we don’t assign chores and my youngest joins in where she can!!! We are looking at a co op with my brother’s family when we move as we will be living close to them and my kids want to and his kids want to!!!i outsource as well and use open and go curriculum!!! My kids do their own arts and crafts!!! My oldest daughter loves doing laundry so we let her!!! We spilt the reading up between me and my older kids!!!
I love what you said about co-ops. There is so much pressure of being part of a co-op when you homeschool. We were part of co-op when we lived in NY and it was just so much work even for a few hours. Once we moved to Ohio, our church (we're OPC) has their own co-op for members and regular attenders working toward membership and it's so relaxed and perfect for us. We also don't do many extras either. My youngest son is in Trail Life and that's it. We are so involved in our church and our oldest is getting ready to start Youth Group and I would rather have our kids focus on things that are really important to them.
I just discovered your channel today. So far I enjoy yourvcontent. I can really relate to this video. I think this is the best video I've seen on this topic. Looking forward to a Mom's morning routine one to really free more Mamas ☺☺
THIS was awesome! I've been feeling frustrated because we aren't getting to everything and I can't get everything done at home either...how do you teach responsibility to your kids so they do their chores properly without having to check up on them. Listening and obeying right away I guess is what I'm getting at! Thanks for your videos!
That’s a great question. The easy answer is laying out clear expectations, model, teach, and check back in for quality control. I’ve heard it say don’t “expect anything your not willing to inspect”. That’s the “easy” answer but the reality of living out that process is so much harder. We have to do a reset every few months as I start to notice quality slacking and I just try my best to be patient and retrain.
There needs to be more honesty among homeschool families. This is great and talking about outsourcing and that there are things that just aren't necessary. I love these videos for new and veteran homeschoolers! As always, thank you so much for this honesty and a look onto your homeschool ❤️❤️❤️
This is fantastic!! So good of you to let other homeschool mamas know that it's completely unnecessary to do all the things!! I love me some video-based curriculums and audiobooks! 🙌🏻
@@LifeintheMundane My son does IEW for writing (absolutely LOVE). It has greatly improved his writing as well as his confidence. Next year, we will be adding Nicole the Math Lady with Saxon Math.
@@LifeintheMundane We've done the Ron Paul Curriculum for the last 2 years! Each class is taught by different teachers, so some I can recommend, others I have a few cons for. This year my 2nd grader is doing BJU Press! Again, mostly love it, but there are some cons and some doctrine differences. One we ABSOLUTELY love is Science Shepherd! They're amazing and my 4th grader has learned so much through their Astronomy class and Archeology class!
I so enjoyed watching this. It really helps to know that others don't do things we don't do at the moment either. Also, we share what we do around the house (which is part of our home education - preparing for life with practical life skills). Fantastic, thank you for opening up!
Releasing that guilt! 👏👏👏 Yes! There's only so many hours in a day, and soon we'll enter a different season where we can do more or (key point here) where we do something different. ❤️❤️ Loved your thoughts on this!

Thank you! Great way to manage priorities.
Yes, it all comes down to priorities

This was so freeing! I have been worrying about not having my 7 year old involved in extra things but. . . I can only handle so much!
So true!
I want to get my daughter more involved with our home cleaning and maintenance. Right now, if I don't do it, it doesn't get done.
Great idea

P.S. I love that you're in the OPC! My brother is a pastor in the OPC
You are such a blessing to families who have kids with additional needs and therapy. You "get it."

Thank you for sharing! People always ask, “how do you get it all done” and my answer is, I don’t. 😂😂

Yes! This is me too ☺️🙌
Thanks for being real!
Hope it can be an encouragement
And this is why we're friends LOL I'm right there with you on so many of these! Except, I don't ever wake up at 5 LOL

Happy to be an encouragement. We can’t do it all and that’s ok as long as we are being faithful to do what God has called us too.
I loved this video and I appreciate the honesty.

Thank you! At what age did you introduce your kids to audiobooks?
We start really young like as toddlers but we start with introducing it in the car and at bedtime and then they get hooked early.
❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for watching
