I did, enjoyed enough red meat for a lifetime. My doctor prescribed statins, but I ignored it. 5 years later, at 52, I had a heart attack, cardiac arrest, and a 19 minute flatline. You're right, why worry? I don't worry about taking statins anymore. Cheers!

@@tzenophile I told my doctor I thought i had problems. He said i had no risk factors (guess he didn't know my red meat consumption!). Anyway, they ran some tests and two hours later I wasn't allowed to leave the hospital and had a quintuple heart by-pass!!! I was 49.
My family raises and produces meat - breakfast bacon and eggs, lunch and dinner steak. Everything fried in lard. I never saw a vegetable until first day of school and couldn't figurre why rabbit food was on my plate. For those who do not know, LDL is not a kind of cholesterol. It is a lipoprotein sphere that transports cholesterol, fat soluble vitamins, triglycerides, and hormones to the tissues that need them. As Malcolm Kendrick, author of " A Clot Thickens" says, " You wouldn't call a car a person because it contains people". Since the blood is a water-based solution, and fats are not soluble in water, cholesterol and fats are carried in these submarine spheres so our blood vessels don't clog up immediately, starting with our leg veins.
It is time for those who do know, to stop calling it LDL cholesterol and perpetuating the myth.

When I quit smoking, after a couple months I had to quit wearing my glasses. My vision is back to normal. I’ve never heard anyone talk about this but it happened. Very interesting. I have also read somewhere that smoking cause lower back pain. It seems to affect the very small veins in our bodies. The veins in our eyes are also very tiny. So that might explain what you are observed.

@@eastafrica1020It is actually the tiny capillaries that improve the delivery of oxygen to the tissues to all organs in our bodies when one stops smoking. Veins deliver deoxygenated blood back to the lungs where it is reoxygenated through respiration (breathing). The little filters in the kidneys are called nephrons. I suspect that the lower back pain that improved when you stopped smoking was related to the improved function of these nephrons. Often people attribute lower back pain, logically, to back muscles or the spine, but in fact it can be occasionally, kidney pain. Regardless, one can always benefit from quitting smoking! Kudos to you! That is a very hard thing to do for so many...

Dr. Baker, as someone who works closely with the elderly, I've become increasingly concerned about the sheer volume of prescription medications, particularly statins, that seem to be routinely prescribed to them. I am not a doctor so I cannot advise my clients directly, but i am concerned about the future of this country with a broken healthcare system and families affected.
It has been a lot of efforts to convince my parents not to take all medication prescribed to them, because they trust doctors so much.

Let me tell you about some in the profession. My father, who had severe vascular dementia, had a massive heart attack. The doctor was angry at my mother for not allowing him to perform open heart surgery. For what? What improvement in his living condition would have resulted? Nothing, but the doctor would have made a pretty penny as well as the hospital. My dad would likely have died on the operating table. With the elderly having issues with sarcopenia I would ask them if they have any muscle pain or noticeable weakness since they started taking medicines. I would recommend watching Nicholas Norwitz's video on the subject matter. Someone above mentioned about ldl being a lipid protein that carries cholesterol and other nutrients to the tissues that need them. Might it be that those muscles are not getting the nutrients they need?

My father, an ENT surgeon, had cholesterol over 230 for all of is life. Consequently as a family we were all subjected to the low fat diet craze of the 70s and he was placed on statins once they became available (after he was 60). His lives remained elevated regardless. In his early 80s he was recommended to take a stress test. After a few minutes on the treadmill he was told to sit down because he was having an acute dangerous arrhythmia that needed to have PCI as soon as possible. Dutifully he followed recommendations and went to the lab. When he came out of anesthesia, the cardiologist was tapping on his forehead saying “Doc can you tell me why we did this?” It was discovered that the "arrhythmia" was due to a bad lead. That was not the interesting part. The cardiologist a family acquaintance) reported that my dad's heart had absolutely no evidence of any atherosclerosis of any kind. He said that he sees many 40 year old hearts in far worse shape than my father's in his 80s. Whatever the problem is regarding heart disease it isn't cholesterol, unless you have familial dyslipidemia which is a very rare condition.

Raw honey is a combination of Glucose, Fructose, & a small % of Sucrose. Your body & liver likes Glucose the best of these 3 sugars.
If you look for crystallized honey, as that is nearly 100% Glucose, your liver will appreciate that even more.
I am not condoning any firm if sugar consumption, but if your going to injest it, at least try to make it Glucose vs the others.
We will never know in our lifetimes exactly what's healthy and what's bad for us, & even if we did know, it wouldn't apply to everyone equally, I suspect.
What we do know is that sugar & carbohydrates are contributing to the Diabetes & Dimentia epidemic we are seeing in our current lifetimes.
If you really want yo see sick & diseased cultures, just look at those who ate primarily meat for thousands of yrs, & have adopted a Western diet in the last few hundred yrs, or less even.
