The fact that the feminist/women's orgs pulled out last minute while this guy can be so forthright and undaunted speaks volumes to the gender inequities in South Korea: there exists real, deleterious repercussions for women, while men can live unharmed, unbothered, untouched.

Lets be honest, Men and Women are built differently. lets not be blind about that. A woman have to work harder than a man to have a strong built and carry out heavy duties and roles like fire fighter, policeman, soldier, etc. And a man have much more stamina than a woman. There are even experiments where woman and man who are fire fighters compete with each other on who will knock down a door in case a victim is trap inside a room where there is a fire. The woman can't knock down the door at once, she tried so many times but she cant even tho she is built. But the man knocked it down in one blow.
Entering in a workforce like this, where life and death is at stake, do we really need to have a gender issue? The job will be given to the one who is more SUITABLE for the job and not just because of a gender. And a police job is not just about scanning a woman's body, its about protecting the welfare of the citizen in the country.

      @samihindi 2 роки тому +6

I believe they are superior in some ways. But again, in some ways women are also superior to us men. The most important thing probably in our society nowadays for it to function properly, is physical work which generally makes men superior to women. And also, obeying someone doesn't mean that there is no equality. As your statement is suggesting, there should also be no hierarchy in the military e.g. since there are lieutenants, generals etc.
The feminism you perceive as of today is what should be hated, since it completely shits on equality and disregards basic human nature (e.g. the male instinct to protect) with feminists saying things like: "I DONT NEED YOU TO PROTECT ME, JUST DONT HURT ME!!"). Of course there still are feminsts that *truly* aim for equality but this mindset unfortunately has a severe lack of supporters nowadays.

A point he made was that men are often victims of false rape accusations, or that men are less likely to be taken seriously when it comes to incidents of sexual assault. Or even that only men are required to have military service. Why do you think this is? This is a result of the patriarchy’s system, which has taught gender roles that have portrayed men as strong, dominant, and people to want sexual intercourse and as women to be weak, submissive, and obedient. When this image is given to men because women are perceived as weak and submissive they often gain the benefit of the doubt and therefore not able to commit sexual assault or even lie about it since they are so weak according to the image put upon them, and men are seen as wanting sex, therefore not taken seriously in these cases. And because women are seen as weak, even men who know they cannot do the military service are required to do so because they are perceived as strong and dominant which is an issue men face in South Korea a lot. The issue of being likely to be sent to prison, the gender being mandatorily given military enlistment or to be not taken seriously as a sexual assault victim is caused by the patriarchy. It affects men and women as well. Many issues men’s rights say men experience as proof of inequality for men is simply just a byproduct of the patriarchal images set by gender roles.

@@lilac2698 The age old system that has existed till date is patriarchal and they set all the rules. Won't you agree with this? So, gender roles were created by men and followed and supported by women.
I don't think there were any matriarchal societies.
So the society is to be blamed. A society which is patriarchal (it includes men AND women who continue to degrade women and place men on a pedestal.)
Several times a woman is herself another woman's enemy. So many MOTHERS teach their daughters to be submissive and ideal in their behavior. So women are at fault too. But, as a whole men created this system and several women continued to support it.
So, all in all its society's fault.
The men began the oppression. Women were told to mold themselves a certain way, and in doing so they created a mould for the men too. They painted a definitive picture of what a male must be and what a female must be.
They forgot that men and women both have weaknesses which they should be covering on behalf of each other. Men and women must collaborate, not compete.
In any case, currently women are on the lower end. Feminism is required to bring them up to where men are. Women are already strong but there is an issue with the way that society perceives that strength. Feminism is required so that a woman can stand eye to eye with a man and hold his hand in order to collaborate.
This is MY OPINION, don't come onto me.

(**Child bearing is not a crime, it is essential for the survival of the species but not if the woman does not want to bear)
Didn't patriarchy for so long change women (and men) the way it wanted to change them (aka, on its own whims).

Okay so I roughly wrote my opinions down for some things that I found most controversial said by him.
6:28 he said "not a single man thinks we should not correct the wrongs done to women"
This is absolutely wrong. There are many many men and even some women that don't take the victim's side and this leads to victim blaming. This is very common. And everyone knows it. If you ever say that victims of harassment and abuse against women have always received support there wouldn't be cases where the victims were not given justice. It's the complete opposite of it.
7:20 he asked what would citizens benefit from increasing the quota of women representatives in the government. Idk about Korea, but I'm from India. And if we raised the quota of female representatives in our Parliament we would benefit oh so much. Marital rape isn't considered as rape in India. Its fairly legal. If we increase the quota of female representatives, we might get more chances to getting closer to abolishing and amending laws that are against women. We can get closer to legally holding people accountable for their deeds. I'm sure there are many laws in Korea too, that includes utter misogyny and no liberalism for women.
8:30 despite women and men being physically and emotionally different, gender equality narrates that a man or woman regardless of their authenticity and differences should be treated equally. Gender Harmony will only come from that. They are provided the same respect, the same pay for equal work, the same appreciation and recognition based on how they perform. Regardless of their gender. Not based on it.
20:00 again, he's only seeing things from one side. I totally understand no man should be falsely charged for violence, but as he said in 6:28 that no men want women to be harmed which means he thinks that women are always protected. Which is so not true. He's only protesting that men are falsely accused, not focusing on when women are too, not served justice and sometimes their cases not even filed and nobody believes them or asks them to let it go "because men will be men".
23:05 I don't take the woman's side at all, because what she did was wrong. But the man could've called the police and held the woman accountable for property damage. The cops would've taken responsibility following that. It's simple as that.
28:30 I think what the women meant was to encourage young kids to not fall for beauty standards because they are toxic. Some people might like to wear makeup and that's okay. But idk why it's called "self care"? It can mean different things to different people. Makeup is used for various purposes, for looking presentable to toxic beauty standards. What the feminist movement was to drop these toxic beauty standards and like your bare face. What's Wrong With that.
30:06 seriously?? You think this is all imaginary hate towards men?? After what all men do? I can't even. You think you respect women because you love your wife? Let me tell you that respecting women and gender equality extends to more heights and places than just your home. I don't know how you treat your wife, but just loving her is not equal to respecting her. Giving her to make decisions. Letting her handle things in her own too. Which in the first place shouldn't be 'letting her' because she's her own person and can make her own choices. Previous from what you said - men should take leads and women should obey them - you call that equality?? It's gender roles. You're dividing and creating roles for gender to follow.

This is a prime example of simple comments outright lying to decept the public to lazy to watch the full video... hand picked quotes to paint the guy in the wrong light. Here is my repost.
"Looking at some of the comments and unsurprisingly even a few with a large number of thumbs up. You can clearly see how feminism has made people stupid, naive, and willfully ignorant. A lot of the attacks are very general bland attacks that contain no substance that somehow never pinpoint what exactly the guy says wrong. There are also comments that seem to discredit him because he dressed up in certain costumes. EVEN THOUGH he clearly explains why he does that in the interview. Then there are also comments that warp the truth and quote only a portion of what the man says. When the guy mentioned obedience and sacrifice between a man and woman using titanic as an example, the interviewer asked what if the roles were reversed. The man clearly says reversing roles would still be the same, then goes on to give a personal example from his life. Talking about how much his wife suffered and sacrificed when his business failed and how much support he got from his wife. Which did nothing but help revitalize his devotion, love and faith to his wife, true obedience.
Feminism has gone from something genuine and righteous, into this man hating women elitism movement, pure misandry. You can scour the comments and see for yourself what feminism has become. Willful and deliberate ignorance, out of pure spite and hatred. Cutting quotes short to fit "their" narrative, never willing to open up their hearts and minds to actually listen to the opposing side. It has become a illness and disease, a mental sickness. Everyone here knows the truth why no feminist representatives came out for the interview. Its because they know deep inside they are wrong and don't want to be crucified in public. Saying they didn't appear due to harassment or attacks is pure excuses, everyone here knows this is a pre-recorded youtube video. Voice warping and mosaics can be done easily. Everyone who can think for themselves know the obvious. The only reason they didn't appear is because they have no confidence in their movement and beliefs. They have no confidence in their actions and don't want to take responsibility for them.
I wouldn't be surprised if there is a "brigade" of feminists (shoot if we go the conspiracy route, this could all be a charade done by a 3rd party to create a divide and dissent among the people by parties of interest) whose jobs are to make such dumbs comments to change and warp the publics opinion through deception and taking advantage of peoples short attention spans, or their laziness. Reminds me of what people call the pro-communist chinese spammers. The 50c army. Same difference.
Too lazy to watch a 40min video from start to finish but have all the qualifications and judgements to ridicule the man and upvote comments that make you "feel good" or aligns with your ideals/beliefs without listening to the guy? How is that a logical conversation. Its just screaming your ideals at the top of your lungs while you cover your ears.
This is the type of people we are trying to have a conversation with, like talking to a wall. No logic, no sense, only hatred.
I'm not a anti-feminist nor involved with anything of that category be it on the internet/politically or other. I just see a bunch of people hating on the guy and as someone who watched the video. I do not understand at all what he has said wrong. Seriously everything he has said has been logical, no excuses, no cheap shots, comments made on a base of neutral and mutual respect. Even his wife is there to support him while she is behind the camera. Am I the crazy one? Or has everyone else gone crazy? These are some confusing times we live in.
Word of advice, take every comment you see be it reddit or youtube or any social platform with caution and wariness. Much like you guys have heard about fake and/or biased news. The internet, forums and social platforms have also become a battleground of propaganda. Don't think that every comment you see is from an actual individual and always give a thought that there could be a possibility that forces in the background are doing social engineering to change and warp public opinions. Yes, that includes my wall of text as well. Judge it as you will, but make sure its a judgement based on actual self-critical thinking and logic. Not based on emotions, feelings and predisposed prejudice."

In my opinion, you are wrong on several levels:
      1. Concerning education, boys and girls are equally educated in the western world, in my home country even more women statistically get a good A levels result and study at universites than men. There are no laws that exclude women from certain contents regarding education, so women have the same opportunities and chances to have a successful career as men do.
      2. It's true that it's still more expected from women to take care of the kids than from men; however, no one forces you to have children, so that's not an obstacle in your way if you want to make a career. IF you decide to have children, that's your choice and you obviously have the responsibility to take care of them, but I agree that the responsibility should be split up more equally between the father and the mother.
      3. Men are just as affected by stereotypical expectations regarding their gender as women are, they are just different. Being expected to not show feelings, always be the strong and tough guy, that a muscular body is a "must" and that dads are less important than mums are just some of those. Men are equally burdened by that than women are with their expectations.
You talking about "white patriarchy" proves that you are a US American citizen. The idea that people who happen to be male and of European heritage are intentionally oppressing every other group of people to stay at the top is quite ridiculous, to put it mildly.
I'm from a European country and in contrast to the US, we do not have those problems of a "white supremacy" here.
And one last tip: if you REALLY care about women's rights and gender equality, you should campaign for helping women who are really oppressed in their home countries by law AND by culture, like so many Middle Eastern countries with Arabian and Muslim influence. The situation of women there is not comparable with yours as a globally privileged woman living in a first world country. Those women need your help way more than Western women. But that would REALLY require you to see further than the end of your nose, and, let's be honest, that is quite unlikely in your case, considering the fact that you rant so intensively about the oppression of women in first world countries...

The thing is, as hard as it is to understand, in general, social gender norms are derived from sex qualities or to be more exact from the biological side. For example, is expected for a woman to stay with her baby after birth and to be a nurture, because she and the baby have a psychological, emotional, physical and hormonal bound that the man doesn't have with the baby. Is expected that the man goes to work and brings the food to the table, cause psychologically he has a hunting nature, to protect and provide for his family. Like this, there are many gender rules that people think are just "social construct", but their not, there's a reason and a meaning behind human behavior, it's not all about culture, prejudices and stereotypes, the biological part is very deep and rooted inside people's nature.

Gender Harmony sounds really nice and idealistic, but, for me, like he mentioned, we have to find the root causes of this radical feminist movement. What has caused this? How this has been intensified, and why?
For me, underlying this radical movement, there are technological advances along with education. Technological advances have freed many people from labor work itself and education has let people think critically - let people doubt the status quo.
We also need to acknowledge that from the very beginning people have refused to be "status quo" - and that is exactly why people have constantly created something and accelerated technological advances and societal changes.

Here is my repost from a earlier comment. I hope I can convince you to change your mind if possible.
Not based on emotions, feelings and predisposed prejudice."

if you flip that, you have to flip other things, and then stuff about the story makes less sense given the gender roles of the day. As for why the man dies and not the woman in a general sense - I don't know, as there are other romance-tragedy films where the woman dies instead. At the end of the day, Cameron wanted the main character to be a woman, so Jack dies since he is not the main character. if it were actually a trope in those kinds of films, then sure, you could the film as an example, but there isnt really a trope concerning the genders for that type of story AFAIK.

Im honestly not a supporter of radical feminism but have these men ever asked themselves why do women even started these movements? i feel like they didn't dig in enough and that's why this men's movement was created and also that's why I started disagreeing with him 5 minutes after the interview started. He doesn't even know the difference between gender and sex. He doesn't know the difference between what's science and what's society norms. Before starting this movement he should've studied feminism and why it even exists. Actually, if he was smart enough he would've understood that we live in a radicated patriarchal society...but truth is that this society is actually comfortable for him to live in because he's in a position of privilege and doesn't want it to change. He says this right after claiming he would support any push for "true" gender equality "if women were treated unfairly." This is not questioned, and yet the logical response is both effectively apolitical and based upon fairness: is it not unfair if 50% of the population is represented by less than 50% of representatives, where the other 50% is represented by over 50% of representatives?

There is a simple reason why there should be a ratio in politics, it's because of representation. If your country has 51% men and 49% women, the represenation in politics should also be close to the same.
"I don't want someone incompetent represent our country who got their through the ratio". There are plenty of incompetent politicians in your country who only got to their position because they were close to a competent politician. There is also something called "gender bias". If you rarely see a female politician you always unconciously assume that females are worse in that position of work.
This also leads to minor mistakes being always met with the response "I knew she couldn't do it", while the a male counter part with the same mistake would have not even be noticed.
This isn't just something happening against women btw. Maybe you have noticed yourself, that when a waitress makes a mistake like dropping glass on the floor, people are more likely to help the waitress than the male counter part, simply because waitresses usually are more prominent in that job field. Waiters are more often met with laughter, clapping or even ridiculing when dropping something.

He does not see and understand the systemic and deeply-entrenched inequalities towards female. Meritocracy isn‘t always based on merit. A good case in point is the news from Japan about how women who took the exams to get into medical school were systematically and unfairly excluded even though they performed just as well or even better than their male counterparts. Women don‘t have the same starting point as men. That is what feminist are trying to change - that women start on equal footing with men. Even for women that suceeded in surpassing the gender misconceptions and superstitions in the first place, they still need to prove themselves constantly, and struggle to surpass derogative behaviours based in gender only. If issues like these still exists in the supposedly more liberal West where women don't even receive the same salary as men do even if their credentials are equal or even better from men, I can't begin to imagine what's happening in the countries of Asia. It's incredibly irresponsible to give someone a platform whose entire base is built on misogyny and hate, deceitfully disguised as "equality and harmony". The man who says he is all for equality, says less than 5 minutes later that he believes "all women need to be obedient to men".

    • @jsnpark
      @jsnpark 2 роки тому +20

@Winter Wyvern Where does he say men should be obedient to women? Timestamp please.
In regards to men having to sacrifice for women; there's a clear difference here in power and hierarchy here, framed in a way to make it seem like his cause is logical or noble.
His crystal clear agenda is: women have no power and should obey, and women are at held at the mercy of their husband/boyfriend/father/brother's magnanimity or generosity. CLEARLY this isn't gender equality, but rather toxic, traditional forms of masculinity stemming from generations of misogyny and patriarchy.

    • @jsnpark
      @jsnpark 2 роки тому +21

@kodura vivasayi Firstly, see 11:19. He says exactly what I quoted: "women need to be obedient to men".
Please find where he says "men can also be obedient", it's YOUR responsibility to back up your claims.
Misandry is wrong, and fighting against it is a good thing. But I think it's abundantly clear the vast majority of feminists in Korea are NOT misandrists; rather enraged women sick to death of a system of cultural, societal and institutional oppression that has existed since before the dawn of modern society.
With regards to conscription; I agree, I am against conscription, PERIOD. The solution isn't to drag women into mandatory conscription but to remove mandatory conscription for men.
Women meeting quotas in jobs is a far more complex and nuanced discussion. You'd have to agree that fundamentally, barriers have existed (and still do today) that prevent women from reaching the heights of the career ladder that are afforded to men. Sexism, discrimination and toxic masculinity are all factors that influence whether a CEO position would be given to a man or woman, hypothetically assuming both are 100% equal for the job.
EQUALITY is important; but so is EQUITY. We men have to acknowledge that discrimination exists against women in the workplace, and in order to enact long term, systemic change, introducing a system like quotas (not just anyone of course, but women qualified for the job) can be a beneficial thing to ensure we not only make up for the mistakes of the past, but also encourage and foster a long term change in society.

I saw this guy on another interview and let me tell you from my impression, this one's not in it for men's rights, he's in it for the attention. He's actively provoking and creating hate in order to increase the division of both men and women, which ironically is what he thinks he's fighting against. He endorses the stereotype that all women are radical feminists when in fact that is only a an accusation with no basis. Feminist organizations in South Korea tackle down serious issues like hidden cameras, revenge pornography, SA, and continue to fight for higher wages meanwhile his movement only deters the crowd from the main goal by making embarrassing protests in questionable attire and provoking hate while also gaining media attention, so I understand why feminists wouldn't want to sit with him. In his other interview he was more clear about how he directs his movement, he even mentioned that he went to a feminist organization dressed up as a woman (obviously to mock the movement) and claimed he wanted to have a peaceful conversation with them. If you want to know how that ended, he was escorted out of the building empty-handed.

hey asianboss, a sk youtuber woman named Jammi has ended her life because she was accused of being a feminist by another youtuber, a man. how okay it is to keep pushing the insane and malicious narrative of "being a feminist is way too radical" in sk? women are harrased and targeted bc they fight for the dignity and equal rights they deserve and this interview is still up. there are no worlds to describe how disgusted I am this you even considered this man worth having a voice. it is blatant your absolute disrespect towards the situation of not only women in sk but also around the world.

Most of korean woman never care about national defense of south korea. They just wants equality about being an officer or a petty officer due to high salary and its help to their carrier but they totally don’t care about mandatory service because it cannot helps for their carrier and very small salary (less then 400dollar per month).
Look what happening in korea now?
A Police woman run away from a criminal even the scene of murder.
I really proud of US police woman because their physical test of entrance exam is same as male.
But its not working in korea
if you want to become a government officer such as fire fighters, police woman and officer in a base only you need to pass the paper test because physical test can pass everybody even though a dog can pass that one.

Idk if policewomen and firewomen are a thing in South Korea. But if a woman can pass the same fitness test they should definitely be allowed to join, as they’d still be a reliable asset to the cause. It’s about having the ability to learn and develop skills, not which gender is more perfect for that role. Some men are more fit to be policemen, as other men are more fit to be doctors. Predominately the male gender is seen as stronger and better equipped for more vigorous jobs than women are, this is partially due to the way women evolved within unfortunate circumstances. It’s good to remember that someone might have the high ground on you but that doesn’t mean you can’t reach equal strengths. It’s not really fair that women and men weren’t created with the same physical and mental strengths as each other, but that doesn’t mean we can’t work to achieve a harmonious relationship between them.

Very recently, I believe last year, there was a Korean game-show on Netflix named "Siren" that had only female policewomen, firewomen, soldiers and stuntwomen competing against each other for a prize doing various physical tasks. All the women who took part were extremely fit and athletic and I believe would have been able to do well at jobs traditionally considered to be 'for men'.
