This is the fourth in a new series of shorter videos in which I give a "quick take" on some matter that I consider important to address, for at least some of my viewers, readers, listeners, followers, or students.
This Quick Take developed out of reflections upon years of seeing many people referencing certain philosophical texts in consistent but also odd manners. They treat these texts as if they are absolutely important for understanding the world, other people, oneself, and other matters. At the same time, they show at best superficial understanding of and engagement with those texts. I call these "texts with auras". All of these texts are important or interesting works of philosophy, to be sure.
Among the texts I mention are Benedict Spinoza's Ethics, Immanuel Kant's Critique of Pure Reason, G.W.F. Hegel's Phenomenology of Spirit, Karl Marx's Capital, Martin Heidegger's Being and Time, Ludwig Wittgenstein's Philosophical Investigations, Jean-Paul Sartre's Being and Nothingness, Jacques Derrida's On Gramatology, Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guitari's Anti-Oedipus, and Nick Land's Fanged Noumena

These include college and university classes, British A-levels preparation, and Indian civil service (IAS) examination preparation
