- In this video we refurbish and recoat a pan with a Teflon Non-Stick Coating. #teflon #nonstick coating.
The pan is dismantled, then media blasted to get it back to raw metal. It is then solvent cleaned and a base coat (primer) is sprayed on. The base coat is then baked onto the pan to cure the base coat. Once the pan has cooled down we then spray on the Teflon top coat and it is again baked until cured.
The handle is then refurbished and the pan reassembled - looking brand new!
Beautiful video ❤ excellently explained
Highest respect for craftsmanship and discipline like this. Thank you for taking the time to make such an excellently informative video showing how to restore cookware. I wish I had the infrastructure to do this myself, but at least I know that others have a process.
I have no idea why I'm here, but I love the shape of this pan.
great job... so many pans I had to trash .... this could be a real business
Personally, i wouldn't risk cancer or infertility from C8 exposure and just get a new pan
Yeah the comments are full of idiots using a non damaged teflon pan might be ok but defenitly not doing this should get taken down as this is a health and safety hazard
It seems like the degree of risk would be exceedingly small. As the new non stick coating wears, only a very tiny amount would be ingested with each meal. Perhaps, there is less risk than that found with food additives and other chemicals in the environment, i.e. vehicle exhaust. I think it's great these pans can be recycled this way.
Not a risk, the sun causes cancer, get a life
You just getting older is a risk for cancer as is the sun and natural radiation. This is by far the least of your concerns. You need to stop living in fear of everything.
Very cool, I didn't know it was possible to do this.
What specific type of teflon do you use in a pan that will be for cooking?
More useful with Info on the coatings.
Noted!
What are the prime and what are the Top coat? Any link or more information please.
How are you doing with the mail order coatings. Are they available yet?
Hi @RandomWorkshop....This is excellent work and cost-efficient then buying a new pan. Please let me know when you sell the base coat and teflon basis. (I’m in Indonesia)
what type of primer are you using?
I have a 12" stainless steel farberware millennium frying pan that I'd like done. It's maybe 2" deep. I'd like to keep the exterior as polished. What would that cost? Thanks.
"Randon Workshop" is right! This looks like some backwoods Chinese operation. 😬
Barefoot in the shop. Yikes! 2:06 😬
So what are we going to get a box for sandblasting and you don't explain any of the products😮😮😮
Hi ,tell me please when is possible buy the non stick powder
Teflon spray coating is available at better paint suppliers. It's used on racing boat hulls & various parts as friction mitigation. Also as preservative & corrosion preventer.
and then also cure it at 400°C?
Is that food safe? Also, is it safe during the paint bake-in process or you need special air filter like dupont use?
That is teflon in a liquid carrier. It's just lubricant, not the same thing. It doesn't adhere to anything. Do not use it on food stuff.
"Excellent!!! That was the ticket!!!!
Do you do pyrex pans ? I am in the USA. IF you are in Zaire, Africa then is not economical.
what are the materials you spry as Bess layer and Teflon layer?
Good day - the base and top coat are proprietary solutions developed here
What kind of paint and or brand ??
Does your coat fulfill health safety standards and is it certified for this purpose?
I want to teflon coat some small steel crafting tools. Where do you suggest I could get this done?
Hi Kevin, where are you based?
@@randomworkshop328 Hi, Vancouver BC, thanks
@@kevinwelsh7490 clearly you’re allowed only 1 response from the creator. Too bad he squandered it.
When It comes avaliable to buy this coating, pls let me know. Nice work by te way
Thanks, will do!
I'd be interested in it also. Please post when available.
Will do - thanks for watching!
Hi Kevin,
I’m Green supporter, and I’m thinking to reSpray my rice cooker container. Could undertake this ? How much would it cost? From Vancouver-BC
same here for a bread-robot, my bucket's coating has been eaten away when I forgot I had put in a dow mixture for a month or so ... all molded of course.
How much does it cost per pan? I have several that need recoated.
Good day! It depends on the size of the pot or pan, just measure the diameter of the items and I can give you a better idea of costing.
Is this more cost efficient then buying a new pan? Please let me know when you sell the base coat and teflon basis. (I’m in South Africa as well)
Also dry blasting vs vapour blasting, is dry blasting preferred?
Good evening! Thanks for getting in touch. Recoating is definitely more cost effective when it comes to your higher quality cookware.
Interesting question regarding the vapour versus dry blasting - we have been experimenting with it and the vapour blasting definitely gives a better finish. We will be
Email me you details to hello@randomworkshop.co.za and I will be able to send you some finer details.
@@randomworkshop328
Hi.
I did send a email the same day. Not sure if you got it. 🙂
Hi Nanke, I will check and get back to you!
@@randomworkshop328 any response?
I agree, what the hell is the product you used
Brilliant, so wasteful, to throw away old pans , where can I get the Teflon spray .. is it standard stuff or culinary grade ?
Probably is better to buy a new one.... Iron pan works great too!
Good to know but is this spray coating Teflon usable for cooking pots and pans? Like is it gonna poison someone if he eats food cooked in a 're-teflon',d' cooking vessel!
Good point - you cannot just use any teflon coating - it has to be food grade - which our coating is (FDA approval)
@@randomworkshop328 hey thank you for the reply Mr RW. At the end of the day it's probably more hassle than it's worth so easiest to fork over some green for a new one! But Teflon isn't all that great for cooking, just makes process a bit more burn (idiot)-proof!
Where can I purchase the base coat and final teflon coting please?
Hi Jim, we are based in Pieternaritzburg South Africa - where are you based?
@@randomworkshop328 Hi there! By the way nice presntation. I have the same question that Jim has asked. I live in Belgium and I know that its impossible to buy the tefflon (pouder) in any of the neibouring countries. If you know of a company in SA that would consider selling and mailing the base coat and the teflon to Brussels I would really appreciate knowing the company name (and contact info). Or if you are planning to provide the service you demonstrated also let me know. I would like to recoat larege surfaces like the top of table saws (e.g.; deWalt). Thank you for your reply.
Good morning Nelson, we have had an increasing demand for the products and we will be selling them in the near future. I will keep you informed as to when we do start shipping the product.
@@randomworkshop328 Thank you
Are you pushing through with the selling of the primer and the teflon?
Yes we are- we will keep you updated as to when we will start selling.
As a business yea
I need these items
Quicker to buy one l think if we talking domestic.
Looks nice, but I'm pretty sure it's not safe to use...
Saya sering buat begituan tapi pakai cara sederhana, tapi warna hitam nya cepat ngelupas ,kalo di pakai🙏🙏
Alat yg di butuh kan apa aja ya kak
Lot of work. Is it economical? No indication of what specific Teflon and primer used or sourcing. Not easy to source. I see why people throw out pans. I wish they could all be restored.
I think you can make the video shorter with the same understanding!
If nothing sticks to Teflon , ........how does Teflon stick to the pan base , ??????? , its one of those unanswerable questions , like , why do bus drivers have mirrors ?????
0:41 sigh..
Where can I get it done. I'm from India
Good day, we are based in South Africa - we are still planning to make the product available to customers and will keep you updated.
I don't get it. You removed the Teflon Coating just to put a new one on !? Why you don't leave that cast iron pan blank and clean and healthy ? Don't intoxicate yourself !
Useless if you don't tell which products you sprayed on the pan. I'm just puzzled that you didn't think of that...
Hello Pablo - thanks for pointing that out - the products are actually manufactured locally for us and up until now, we have not been offering the product to the market (although we do plan to),
@@randomworkshop328, Do you have your products on Amazon. We could purchase it that way.
Thanks for contacting us! We are looking at starting direct shipping in July 2022, depending on the demand we will then be looking at something like Amazon, but will keep you posted.
@@randomworkshop328 yeah good luck with pfos!!
It's not a DIY video, it's an Advertisment, disguised as DIY video.
we are interested to import
Josh should paint his nails black, would be really pretty
That's hilarious! I will pass the message on.
Just buy a new one on sale and it's done in a professional factory. Would never eat from that pan .
Are you doing this Teflon coating as job work. Please let me know your contact details
Yes we do and we can be contacted at hello@randomworkshop.co.za
can u sell it to shopee ..thks
Not something one can do at home then😒...
Music is too loud and cannot understand what the guy says
hi sir,im from singapore !im interested to try out your primer and teflon coatings😆
can i message you on other platforms?
Please get rid of that annoying background music. Your own normal voice is enough for this tuition.
Apreciate the video, but 99.99% of us don't have access to most of the tools, sand blasting and commercial oven.
Trust you don't want to be doing this not safe materials used on these pans
not very do it yourself at home
Already not easy to understand you plus you are far not easy to hear!
Very difficult to understaand the accent of the speaker. To add more problem to listening, background music is loud and masking the speech.
Yes. Let me buy all of these niche items to redcoat an old pan I got from the super market 15 years ago.
Or... you can just buy another danm pan!
Very cool, I didn't know it was possible to do this.
Thanks Nick - we will be posting more videos on some of the other stuff we also coat.
